Keep this page fr yur recrds JUNETEENTHKC 2018 PARADE RULES AND GUIDELINES 1. A representative f the participating rganizatin must attend the MANDATORY PARADE MEETING at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center, Saturday, May 26, 2018, 3:00-5:00 p.m. 2. MARCHING MUSICAL UNITS: Marching musical units are requested t perfrm the entire parade rute. Unit members are required t be in unifrm. 3. EQUESTRIAN/ANIMAL UNITS: Participants must have cntrl f their animals at all times. Equestrian riders must be at least 12 years f age, able t cntrl the hrse in crwded situatins and have adult supervisin. Any animal deemed t be unsafe in the parade must be remved. All animal units must prvide their wn cleanup crew and equipment t fllw their unit in the parade. 4. FLOATS: Flats must be a fully decrated trailer that is self-prpelled r pulled by a tw vehicle. It is strngly encuraged that the tw vehicle als be cvered, decrated and incrprated int the flat theme. Flats shuld nt exceed 55 feet in length, including the tw vehicle, r mre than 14 feet in height and width. Tractr trailer trucks are nt accepted t be used as a flat. 5. SPECIALITY UNITS: Drill, Dance r Batn teams must cnsist f 10 members r mre. Walking participants must be at least nine years ld r lder. There must be at least ne adult escrt fr every six children under the age f 13 years. Entries requiring vehicles t carry sund systems must ntify parade rganizers n the applicatin. The type f vehicle must be listed fr apprval by parade rganizers. Decrated carts r vehicles are required. 6. VEHICLES/MOTORCYCLES: Drivers f mtr vehicles must remain with the vehicle at all times. Vehicles must be insured as required by Missuri law. 7. IDENTIFICATION SIGNAGE: Identificatin banners are encuraged fr entries in the parade. Participants must prvide their wn signage. Signs must be in gd taste, r they will be remved. 8. PUBLC SAFETY: Because f the ptential danger t spectatrs, thrwing bjects, candy, etc. alng the parade rute is prhibited. 9. POLITICAL CANDIDATE SIGNS: Plitical candidate signs are prhibited. Vter registratin infrmatin may be passed ut by walkers alng the parade rute. 10. FORWARD MOTION PARADE: All entries are required t maintain a cntinuus frward mtin during the parade. Parade fficials may change pace r stp frward mtin t maintain suitable space between entries. Prper unit spacing and parade pace is critical. Vluntary stpping fr drill frmatin, reverse marching by bands and drill teams cannt exceed 60 secnds.
