The Route The 40K is a beautiful, slightly undulating route in outstanding Derbyshire countryside. The route will be signposted throughout. Signs are unique to this event so look out for the yellow signs with Cycle Derby Sportive logo on them. Other events maybe running at the same time so only follow signs with our logo on them. While the main roads are mostly in good condition please be careful whilst riding through some of the villages where road conditions may vary. This is not a closed road event so beware on narrow lanes which will still be open to traffic. KoM/QoM Section The KoM/QoM challenge section is on Long Lane, approx. 13.5km into the ride and just before the feed station at Ostrich Inn Pub. The section will be marked with yellow correx signs so you will know where it starts and where it ends. Please note this is a personal challenge section and riders must cycle responsibly on the left hand side of the road. There will be marshals along this section to ensure cyclists are riding safely. Any rider deemed to be riding inconsiderately or riding in a manner that could cause harm to themselves or others will be disqualified from the timed section. The marshal s decision is final. Please observe the Highway Code at all times.

40k Feed Station The feed station will carry sweet and savoury food, bananas, cake, sports drink, jelly babies and water. Please ensure you show your wristband at the feed station, else you won t get any food! There will be a track pump and appropriate cycling tools but please make sure you are carrying spare inner tubes in case of a puncture. Photography There are two official event photographers - one will be taking pictures at the start line and at Radbourne area to capture people returning back to the park. The other photographer will be at the KoM/QoM section so smile whilst riding up that hill!! We also hope to take some unofficial photos at the feed stations. Obviously if anyone has any good photos to share, we hope you will do so on our Facebook page after the event! Finish The finish and start are located at the same place. Timing mats will be switched off at 18:00. You may keep the timing chip/rider number. On finishing the ride you will receive your Sportive Medal and Food Voucher for the Orangery Cafe to get some wellearned refreshment! If, for any reason, you decide not to return to the finish at Markeaton Park can you please make us aware by calling us on 07841001020. Results/Timing Once you have crossed the finish line you will be able to get a print out of your times from the timing van. Times will also be displayed on the HUUB Events website www.huubevents.com at the end of the day (i.e. after 6pm once the cut off time has been reached!) Recommended equipment: Water bottles for your bike, sun screen, waterproofs, additional nutritional snacks, mobile phone, extra clothing, money or cash card, any personal medication and any appropriate tools and spares.

What to do in case of an emergency: If an emergency occurs dial 999 immediately; inform them of your location and the nature of the incident. Then phone the Hotline Contact Number 07841 001020 to let the organisers know so that they can co-ordinate with the emergency services. First Aid: There will be a motorbike outrider who can act as first aider and mechanic. Should you have any problems please call the Hotline Contact Number 07841 001020 so we can alert him and send him your way. EMMS first aid will also be attending in the Craft Village for the duration of the event. Rules of Participation: This is a challenge NOT a race; dangerous riding will not be tolerated. Helmets are compulsory. Riders are reminded that it is an offence to urinate in a public area. Toilets are available at the start/finish and at all feed stations. All entrants' bikes must be in good working condition for the event. Ride with care and attention to all other road users. Take special care around horses. Do not litter. It jeopardises the future of the event and ruins the beautiful countryside you have been cycling through. Do not ride more than two abreast and take care when overtaking other riders. Take care on the descents, some are steep and contain sharp bends. Clearly signal your intention to turn left or right to other road users. If you need to stop and you are in a group then raise your arm and shout stopping. The judgement of event officials is final. Thanks to our Event Sponsors and Partners
