Page 2 TCBA News Women s Rule Change Proposal 2012 Women have a proposed rule change this year. Bold denotes changes RULE 7 Entering Averages (Current Rule) Individuals will use the same average maintained in the TCBA from the prior season, providing they finished with 21 or more games. All others shall use their highest league average of 21 games or more from the pervious year (highest USBC or YABA book average). If a bowler has no average from a winter league, then use the highest USBC or YABA summer league average of 21 games or more. A bowler who has none of the above may use their last current book average going back no more than 2 years (USBC or YABA book average). If a bowler has none of the above, she may enter the league with a 150 average. Rewrite as follows Individuals will use the same average maintained in the TCBA from the prior season, providing they finished with 21 or more games. All others shall use their highest USBC average of 21 games or more from the previous year (highest USBC or YABA book average). If a bowler has no USBC or YABA average from previous year, then a verifiable winter league average of 21 games or more can be used. A bowler who has none of the above may use their last current book average going back no more than 2 years (USBC or YABA book average). If a bowler has none of the above, she may enter the league with a 165 average. * *If the bowler only has a Sports league average they must add 15 pins to their average if bowled 21 or more games. ** Submitted by: Yolanda Garrett, Dallas Women Reason: It will address those bowlers not committed to a bowling league for more than 21 games and those bowlers who haven t bowled in more than 3 years. The proposal will also address bowlers who only have a Sport League average. Visionary makes Ball exclusively for TCBA Bowlers The Visionary ball proposal presented to the delegates at the 2011 Delegates meeting became a reality this year. Several of our bowlers embraced the idea and ordered one at their first stop. One bowler said, Get a ball for $108.00 and have added money for the TCBA tournament. It s a no brainer. Somewhere between the presentation at the Delegates meeting and the start of our league, the idea became vague for some reason. Bowlers said they didn t understand the concept. The ball orders were slow at first in some regions. Some regions told the bowlers that we were not doing the deal at all! Of the 1800 plus bowlers in the TCBA approximately 500 participated in the Visionary ball deal. Jason agreed to continue with the proposal at that number. Granted the amount to be added to the prize fund will not be any where near what it would have been if more bowlers had participated. In any event the TCBA will be graced with a ball that only TCBA bowlers can have. The ball will be called the The CLASSIC, it will be red with pearl blue swirls. The TCBA and the Visionary logos will be in silver sparkle. In honor of Joe Cramer the serial number on every ball will start with JHC09. This will be a ball that you can use in any league or tournament, as it will be certified by the USBC. The balls will have a delivery date sometime in April. We are going to send the balls to a bowling center selected by your league secretary for distribution. For those of you that participated in the ball deal, we thank you. For those that did not, maybe next year. Willie Wells, the TCBA rep we ve seen at our national tournaments, won the Silver Division in the Mini in Las Vegas with the Mixed Breed Pearl, taking the $10,000.00 first prize money. These Visionary balls must be pretty good.

Houston, TX 77062 281-488-1331 News From TCBA Headquarters by Keith Savoie This is some important information for all bowlers!! Your secretary has received the Wildcard entry forms, Playoff forms and next year s franchise forms. The wildcard entry form must be filled out completely, including the second page or the form will be returned to you. A copy of the bowlers USBC membership cards should be attached to the form also. Having a copy of the membership cards didl shorten the check in time before the squads last year. The wildcard entry form must include a $100 money order and must be received by TCBA postmarked no later than April 1, 2012. Personal checks will not be accepted. Your secretary must check the form and sign it. The Playoff forms have basically the same information to be filled out except the secretary will verify and record final averages. This form along with $50 is to be received by TCBA headquarters within 7 days after last bowling date. I hope to see most of you at the tournament. I hope you all bowl well. As Jason Wonders said about Visionary bowling balls, each one has a 300 game in it you just have to bring it out. Please note that there was a district omitted in the last newsletter. Dallas Women district 9 has been added to the lane assignments in this issue as well as on our web site tcba1.com. Keith Savoie TCBA President

Page 8 TCBA News Continued from page 4 Submitted by Brandon Luper, Mid Cities Men Reason for Men s Rule change proposal: My proposal is for TCBA to go from 5 member teams to 4 member teams, I propose that the team average cap be at 860 maximum entering. That's a move from a 210 average per member to 215. Reasons for my proposal is that there are many teams that have between 6 and 8 roster members in which some of those members would like to bowl full time but can't get 5 people together. I believe that those who want to bowl full time would have more opportunity in bowling full time if the rule was 4 member teams because it is easier to get 4 people on a team than it is 5. Drop the legal line-up to 2 members if the original proposal is accepted. Some teams find it hard to get 3 members to bowl when an emergency arises This will also lower the amount of time spent at bowling centers by up to an hour and a half increasing the amount of family time on the weekends., possibly making it easier for some to bowl as to decrease home conflict as well as taking up almost all day at the bowling center.
