SJCC Swim Lessons SUMMER 2018
Our Inspiration The Talmud tells us that one of the core obligations parents have is to teach their children to swim. Many say this is metaphorical the swim part of the sink or swim adage but it s also a practical skill that helps children gain confidence and independence. We live and work in a region surrounded by water, with many opportunities for fun water activities, but there s also a greater possibility of injury and drowning. Kids who learn to swim reduce their risk of drowning by 88%. We re pleased to announce new and more progressive swimming levels for our SJCC swim participants. Our classes are based on the most updated research on learning and water safety. Here at the J, we offer group, private, and semi-private swim lessons for all ages and skill levels. Group Lessons In our group lessons, young swimmers will develop competency in swimming, along with confidence and endurance. Group lessons are based on age and ability. Kids advance to the next level only when they can proficiently and safely perform the skills in that level. If you aren t sure what level is best for your child, contact the SJCC Aquatics Department for an assessment. Private Lessons By pairing you with a certified instructor, we help you achieve your goals with individualized lesson plans. Buy a package of lessons or individual 30-minute lessons, perfect for those who want a few pointers or grandparents who have their grandkids in town on vacation. Private lessons are ideal for participants looking for a customized schedule, those who aren t ready for a group setting, participants with special needs, advanced swimmers, and adults. Semi-Private Lessons Semi-private lessons give you the same flexibility as our private lessons, but at a lower cost per participant. SUMMER 2018 JULY 2-AUGUST 23 Sign up siblings or a group of friends for your child (or for yourself!); a minimum of two swimmers is required. We recommend that swimmers in semi-private lessons are similar in age and swimming ability to maximize every participant s experience. To register for private or semi-private lessons, contact the SJCC Aquatics Department. We ll arrange days, times, and payment.
