Incorporated by an act of the Massachusetts Legislature on 11 March 1864, the Athenaeum opened its doors on 19 January 1868, and remains to this day a vibrant library. This collection of papers, for the period 1867 to 1905, consists primarily of bills for the purchase and of and, and other sundry items (e.g., coal, insurance, decorations, flowers). There is also a letter from the Department of the Interior, U.S. Patent Office regarding the regulations of the patent reports [folder two], as well as sundry receipts and checks. 24 June 2004
