Some important events coming up - Presentation Night 2013 Presentation Night will take place on Friday, 9th August, 2013 at The Caulfield Glasshouse. Details are included in the newsletter. Would be good to see everyone in attendance. We appreciate this is the same night as the Dairy Farmers School Girls competition, but unfortunately we weren't advised that this was being held until well after the booking had been made. Apologies to those who won t be able to attend. Annual General Meeting Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday, 18th August, 2013 at 5:00pm. This year the meeting will be held at the Thomas Street courts in between training sessions. We ask that you come along and support the future of our Club. We would love to see some new faces on the Committee. Notification of the Meeting, together with Committee Nomination forms have been sent out and are also available on our website, so please take some time to consider joining. Spring Season 2013 Invoices will be sent out within the next week or two for the Spring, 2013 season. Unless advised otherwise, teams will remain the same. Favourite TV Shows: Scrubs, Boston Legal, Homeland Favourite Food: Anything my wife cooks Most admired Sportsperson: Steve Waugh Bayside Debut: 2008 First Bayside Team: Div 4 coach Position: Coach Favourite Bayside story/memory: Bayside s 3 senior premierships in 2012. Our Div 3 team had played in 3 Grand finals in a row and had lost the first 2. Best thing about Bayside: The positive role models that the senior girls are for my daughter
BAYSIDE NEWS Page 3 Grand Final Results Congratulations to our Under 17 Division 2 team. The girls defeated Geelong Central Sunshiners 34 to 23. This was the first time the girls defeated them this season - a fantastic effort. BAYSIDE NEWS Page 5 News London Marathon When I was given the chance to take part in The London Marathon running for TACT - the UK's biggest Children's charity fostering homeless teenagers - in April this year, I jumped at it. I had previously run The Melbourne marathon, with very little training and paid the price, so this time, determined to do it properly, I trained seriously for about 4 months. What a difference it made! The sun shone, and despite being just a week after the Boston bombing, the whole of London came out to watch. 700,000 people in 50 pubs and 5 fire stations cheered on the 67,000 competitors, many in fancy dress - rhino's and Darth Vader included, and loads of celebrities (mostly East Enders and footballers). My biggest decision of the day was who to receive my medal from - David Beckham or Prince Harry (Royalty won!). It was one of the best days of my life and with 3,000 pounds raised for charity and a totally respectable time - 403 in my age group - a day I will never forget. What a dilemma for you though - Prince Harry or David Beckham! 2014 Trials Trials for 2014 will be held on Sunday, 8th & 15th September, 2013. Venue and times are still being finalised, however we will notify all current players as soon as details become available.
