Spring/Summer 2015 Program support individuals of all abilities in leading active, healthy lives through participation in adaptive sports and recreational activities. The programs are delivered under the supervision of Spaulding clinicians and adaptive sports professionals, and are open to children and adults. Staff members help each participant find the most appropriate activities to meet their capabilities and help them Find Their Strength. BOSTON Adaptive Sports and Recreation The Dr. Charles H. Weingarten Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program provides individuals with disabilities an opportunity to participate in a wide range of therapeutic sport and recreation activities. All levels and abilities welcome. PROGRAM STARTS TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2015 Activities offered: Windsurfing Stand Up Paddling Cycling Outrigger Canoeing Glide Cycling Kayaking Rowing Tennis Program runs from May through October at the Spaulding Adaptive Sports Pier located at 300 First Avenue in Charlestown, MA. May: Tuesday and Thursday June: Monday through Thursday July: Monday through Friday August: Monday through Friday September: Monday through Thursday October: Tuesday and Thursday Sessions run for 90 minutes at $20 per session. Private lessons can also be arranged at the course of your choice with an additional fee for travel. Cost: $75 per hour Veteran Adaptive Golf Series Golf requires complex mental and physical concentration; it builds strength, range of motion, and balance. For wounded veterans, golf offers a doorway to hope and a path to strength physical, emotional, and spiritual. Spaulding Adaptive Sport s Veteran Adaptive Golf Series offers a weekly opportunity to work with adaptive golf pro, Rick Johnson (see above), on adaptive golf skill development and strategic play. Massachusetts Sled Hockey Initiative sessions are open to friends and siblings who do not have disabilities to play on ice as well. Coaching and equipment are provided to participants in all sled hockey sessions. Massachusetts Adaptive Hockey Initiative: The Dr. Bernard R. and Edna M. Sears Adaptive Hockey Program at Spaulding Adaptive Sports Centers is dedicated to the growth of adaptive hockey in the Boston Metro area and Eastern Massachusetts for individuals of all abilities. Cost: No cost to participants in 2015 thanks to a generous gift from Dr. Bernard R. and Edna M. Sears.
