Levi comes to us from Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was a PGA Assistant Golf Professional since 2013. Levi was born and raised in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he earned his Bachelor of Science in PGA Golf Management. In addition to Levi s work experience at Southern Hills, he has also held PGA internships at The Kansas City County Club, Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, Vail Golf Club and Pronghorn Club & Resort Levi & Maddy Lambing in Bend, Oregon. Levi is a Certified US Kids Golf instructor, Golf Business Network member, Association of Golf Merchandisers member and UNL PGA Golf Management Club member. Topeka Country Club! Thank you for the opportunity to be your next Hello golf professional. I am honored to be a part of The Topeka Country Club team and cannot wait to serve you! My wife, Maddy, and I are very excited to join the Topeka community. I will be working hard to get to know each of you and becoming educated about our operation. Again, thank you for the opportunity to be here. We look forward to delivering a great year and delivering a world class experience to you and your guests! If you have not already met Levi, please stop by and give him a big tcc welcome!

Message from the President Clay Meininger, PGA, TCC President & COO Now that construction is in full swing, and the building is coming out of the ground, one of the new amenities TCC will boast is its Health & Wellness Center. According to The McMahon Report I receive monthly, Health and Wellness facilities are often the most active recreational component of a modern Club. They boost the perceived value of membership and greatly increase member engagement, said Frank Vain of The McMahon Group. Members eat at their club because their friends are there and it is a personal, comfortable, home-away-from-home-setting. This is also why members work out there. He states, If a Club is reluctant to add or expand fitness facilities because of competition from fitness clubs in your area, these competitors actually increase the importance of adding fitness. Commercial fitness providers report a high membership turnover due to the users inability to establish social connections. Club Managers report that the biggest benefit of adding a fitness facility is increased member engagement and socialization. He went on to say, Members who work out enjoy the Club more often and meet a whole new group of members, ones that are not in their spheres of engagement like their golf game or social circle. Health & Wellness Center will be located. We are excited for the Health & Wellness Center to open, offer another healthy option for the membership and a way to meet new friends. With our state of the art equipment and unparalleled service and view it will be the place to be. Message from the Chef Shawn Hartwig, Executive Chef April is for Artichokes? I thought it was for showers? Maybe I m confused, but let s roll with it anyway. I often have people ask me where I come up with my ideas for the features, special party menu, or for 1905 because I won t repeat any menu item twice. I m inspired by all sorts of things from a quick conversation with a member at a table, to a movie I watched, or for this month, my wife, Hayley. Artichokes are something we cook at home all the time, but just like the Club, I don t like to repeat things twice. So even if I m steaming or grilling an Artichoke, the sauce or the seasoning will have to change. I tell myself if I keep trying something enough, I will eventually make it perfect and then I can repeat. I repeat very few things, and I m now in my 19th year of cooking professionally. Back to Artichokes. This month we will be preparing them seven different ways. Soup with Chicken and Fresh Egg Noodles, to the coolest Grilled Cheese with Sundried Tomatoes and Grilled Marinated Artichokes. Spring Rolls that will remind you of your favorite Spinach Artichoke Dip, but all wrapped up in a crunchy and delicate wrapper. Grilled with a fun Sauce Trio, Chicken Scallopini that is like a Chicken Parmesan but with Artichokes instead of Red Sauce and Smoked Mozzarella filled Ravioli with Artichoke Chips. The thinnest layered Lasagna with Artichokes and Cheese with Artichoke Pesto and a Blue Crab Cake. And last but of course not least, Braised Bone-In Short Rib with Artichoke Hearts and Artichoke Puree. Can you tell I ve been cooking a lot of Artichokes at home? If you missed the last Steakhouse Night, maybe think about joining us this month on Friday, April 13, when we turn our restaurant into the best steakhouse in Kansas (I would say Midwest, but I ll let you decide). We will have Kobe London Broil and Prime Bone-In Rib Roast cut tableside, Prime Filets, KC Strips, Colorado Lamb Lollypops, and huge Sea Scallops. There are so many different sauces, starches, vegetables, and add ons I can t list them all on here, so I m just giving you the highlights. If you enjoy a steakhouse experience, we are the place for you on the 13th! Our Cooking Classes seem to keep getting bigger and bigger, so I hope to not disappoint here. My theme this month is Georgia on My Mind. Featuring the best southern fare around. On the 25th, we will put on quite the spread for Administrative Professionals Day, so if you need to thank someone in your office, or like me, someone who just makes life easier, please bring them out for our wonderful buffet. If you re reading this and wondering about Easter, please put down your newsletter or your smart phone you re reading this on and call the Club and make a reservation for our Easter Brunch. I pulled out all the stops this year and would like to spend the holiday with you! I just need you to call first! I know we are going to have a great April. Thank you. 2 Preparations continue on the east side of the Clubhouse where the NEW

News Kent Morgison, GCSAA, Superintendent Pickleball, pickleball and more pickleball! Just another Wednesday afternoon with some of our 10 and under kids. April showers bring May flowers. We ve all heard that saying, but here at TCC, we will have May flowers regardless if we get abundant rain in April. That is because our own Steve Sidebottom has been busy throughout the winter and the early spring days growing flowers and other ornamentals in the TCC greenhouse. The amount of meticulous work that goes into this time-consuming task may go unnoticed throughout the winter, but when spring arrives and things are beginning to wake up for another golf season, the colors and scenery these plantings provide are welcome and we all thank Steve for his dedication to this part of the Club. Greens aerification along with the subsequent cleanup and recovery is ongoing, and with good weather and fertility, we expect the greens to be rolling smoothly very soon. We all know this process is not an ideal practice as it pertains to your golf game, but the minimal time for disruption is well worth it as the season wears on. Thanks, as always, for your patience. Also, if you have been out, you may have noticed that some work has been performed on #9 fairway. The long time nose on the right side of the fairway has been removed and sodded to fairway height zoysia. With the right-to-left slope that is natural to that particular fairway, the effective landing zone was so small in that area we decided to remove the rough and make it fairway, which also matches up to the fairway contours on the majority of the course. Once good zoysia growing conditions arrive, this area will blend in nicely and hopefully raise your fairways hit percentage. That is what is happening in the maintenance department. If you should have any questions or concerns, please don t hesitate to flag me down. See you on the course soon. 5 The greenhouse plantings are beginning to show their colors... just in time for Spring!
