Sacramento Valley Shooting Center Range 4 100 Yard Rifle/50 Yard Pistol/22 Steel Rimfire Policy Procedures In order to promote the safest environment possible for the use and enjoyment of Range 4, the following policy and procedures have been adopted. The FSC/SVSC RSO charged with the operation of Range 4, shall strictly follow the policy and procedures set herein and any deviation from said policy and procedures must have the prior approval of management. Use of Range 4 1. There shall be a FSC/SVSC Range Safety Officer in charge of the firing line, at all times during which Range 4 is open. 2. Range 4 is open to members and the public. Days Open Range 4 is a members/public range and is open as follows: 1. Range 4 is open to members 7 days a week. 2. Range 4 is closed to the public Wednesday and Thursdays. Reservation of Range 4 Range 4 may not be reserved. Number of Guests On Wednesday and Thursdays which are members only days, the number of guests shall be limited to four (4), in addition to immediate family members. Hours Open 8:00 AM to 4:40pm. Last Shooter is accepted at 4:00pm.
Fees, Waivers and Wristbands 1. The fee for voting members is $3.00 for the day. 2. The Fee for Non-Voting members is $5.00 per day. 3. Junior members shoot for free. 4. The fee for a non-member shall be $14.00 per day. 5. The fee for a non-member junior shall be $7.00 per day. 6. The fee for an active duty military personnel shall be $7.00 per day. 7. All persons using range 4 and spectators shall sign the release waiver. 8. All shooters using range 4 shall be issued a wrist band in the color of the day. 9. All non-shooters/spectators shall be issued a white wristband. Safety Procedures for Moving Firearms 1. All firearms shall be cased and uncased at a shooting bench with the muzzled pointing down range. All uncased firearms shall be moved muzzle up, action open and magazine removed until placed on a shooting bench. All rifles must be in a rifle rack, on a shooting bench or in a case. No uncased firearms shall be placed on a table behind the firing line. This applicable for ALL firearms. Safety Procedures for Cease Fires 1. All firearms must be open and safe, all ammunition and magazines removed. 2. It is mandatory for all shooters and spectators to wear eye and ear protection at all times. 3. An empty chamber indicator flag shall be inserted into the open chamber. 4. All shooters must stay back behind the yellow line and shall not approach the benches during the cease fire. 5. There shall be no handling of firearms during the cease fire period. 100 Yard Rifle Range 1. All shooters and spectators shall at all times obey the commands/instructions from the Range Safety Officer. 2. No Rapid Fire is allowed, there must be at least one second between shots.
3. Firearms shall not be handled during a cease fire, while the red lights are 4. Shooting from a standing, sitting and prone position are permitted. When shooting prone must use short prone target stands. 5. Handguns are allowed, but must be shot from a sitting position and rested. 6. The use of bayonets is strictly prohibited. Bayonets which are folded under the barrel are permitted. 7. Air rifles are permitted. 8. Only paper targets which are of the same dimensions of the FSC/SVSC target stands are permitted. All others larger than the FSC/SVSC target stands are not permitted. 9. Target stands shall not be placed closer than 25 yards. 10. Target stands must be kept behind the yellow line, until a cease fire has been called, the red lights are turned on and permission is granted by the Range Safety Officer to proceed down range. 50 Yard Pistol Range 1. All shooters and spectators shall at all times obey commands/instructions from the Range Safety Officer. 2. No rapid fire is allowed, there must be at least one second between shots. 3. Rifles are not permitted. 4. Firearms shall not be handled during a cease fire, while the red lights are 5. Shooting from a standing and sitting position is permitted. 6. Shooting from a prone position is not permitted. 7. Only paper targets, which are attached to FSC/SVSC target stands are permitted, all other targets, are not permitted. 8. Target stands shall not be placed closer than 3 yards. 9. Target stands must be kept behind the yellow line, until a cease fire has been called, the red lights are on and permission is granted by the Range Safety Officer to proceed down range. 22 Steel Rimfire 1. All shooters and spectators shall at all times obey commands/instructions 2. No rapid fire is allowed, there must be at least one second between shots.
3. Shotguns are not permitted. 4. Firearms shall not be handled during a cease fire, while the red lights are 5. Shooting from a standing, sitting and prone positions are permitted. 6. Steel targets shall not be placed closer than 25 yards. 7. Paper targets are not permitted. 8..22 Long Rifle and.22 short ammunition shall be the only ammunition approved for the 22 Rimfire range..22 Magnum and.17 caliber ammunition are not permitted. 9. Air Rifles and air guns are permitted on the 22 Rimfire Range..17 caliber air rifles and air handguns are permitted. 10. Center fire ammunition is not permitted. Shotguns 1. Shotguns with slugs shall be used only on the 100 yard rifle range. 2. Shotguns with shot shells and/or buck shot shall only be fired from the plastic table at the east end of the 100 yard rifle range. Shotguns shall be fired at the red metal target stands or at the 50 yard pistol berm. Unruly and/or Unsportsman-like Behavior. 1. Unruly and/or Un-Sportsman like behavior shall not be tolerated on Range 4 or anywhere else on the facility. 2. Unruly and/or Un-Sportsman like behavior shall be reported to the Operations manager and/or Assistant Operations manager immediately. 3. Unruly and/or Un-Sportsman like behavior shall be cause for removal from the facility. 4. Unruly and/or Un-Sportsman like behavior includes but is not limited to: A. The use and/or threats of violence towards anyone B. The use of offensive language. C. The use of loud and/or boisterous language and/or behavior. D. Failure to obey commands/instructions from the Range Safety Officer. E. Violation of any of these policies and procedures. F. Unsafe firearm handling. G. Being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
H. Whenever in the opinion of any FSC/SVSC range staff the safety of any other person is being compromised. Reservation of Range 4 Range 4 may not be reserved. Ammunition Restrictions FSC/SVSC maintains that all ammunition must be serviceable and safe. No Tracer or Incendiary ammunition is permitted. In addition Barrett and 50 BMG / Euro are banned facility wide.
