Dear Layton High School Football Student/Athlete and Parents On behalf of the Layton High School Football Coaching Staff and Administration we would like to welcome you into our Football Program. As a staff, we are extremely excited to start a new season and a new era of success in the Layton High Football Program. Parent support during the process is vital to our success. Every single decision that we make regarding our players is taken seriously and made for the better of Layton High School and the Football Program. A main component of reaching our potential and accomplishing our goals is a definite outline of our priorities. Family, school, friends and then football. In that order, we encourage our players to focus and be the best that they can be in those four areas. Our focus is to win football games, but we also understand that there is more than winning and losing. Being part of something bigger than the individual and creating a high standard in everything that we do is what we aim to achieve. Our team focus is to represent Layton High School by working hard with each given opportunity. We will compete in all phases by giving fanatical effort, knowing our assignments, and making plays. As members of the Football Program we will be committed in the classroom, make great decisions on and off the field, respect others, accept responsibility, trust and support our teammates and coaches, and compete in EVERYTHING WE DO! Once again, let me welcome you into our Football Program. Together we will put a product on the football field that has our student-athletes playing hard, smart, and together. Thank You, Tyler Gladwell Layton High School Head Football Coach

Summer Training Days During the months of June and July we will have 15 training days that will be held in the Layton High School weight room and football field. Our training program is essential in getting our players ready to participate in the upcoming football season. Our athletes need to be in the best physical shape they can be in when we start in pads to help us avoid injury and give our team an edge over our opponents. We understand that there are family vacations and emergencies that sometimes conflict with training. However, if you are in town, you need to be at every training session. Please do not schedule appointments or other activities during our training times. It takes time, effort, and dedication to make a winning football team. We want you to be part of that. This time in the summer is valuable in helping our players build strength, endurance, speed, agility, and come together as a team. When you work together as a team, you come to rely on and trust your teammates. As a team member, you know that when things get tough, your team is there for you. It becomes easier to work hard and not let your team down and push through the tough times when you know that your teammates are working hard to not let you down. Date/Time: Starting June 11 th through July 27 th. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday the Varsity and JV teams will train from 7-9am and the sophomore team will train from 9-11am. (See Calendar) Attendance: Players must attend 12 of the 15 training days during these two months. There will be two Saturday morning make-up days in June and two more in July. If a player has to miss a workout, please notify Coach Gladwell or another coach before that workout session. $30 Fee: This fee pays for the 15 training days, facility rental, coaches instruction and pay. Please pay in the main office, make checks payable to Layton High Football, and bring your receipt to coach Gladwell. Money is due Monday June 11 th.

Team Football Camp Our Team Camp is held every summer to help our players and program prepare for the upcoming season. This gives us extra practice time in pads that helps prepare us for our season and provides an excellent opportunity to improve team fundamentals, technique, and concepts. It also provides our team valuable time to install and practice defense, offense, and special team schemes. Each player will receive instruction in all phases: blocking, tackling, running, catching, passing and we will continue to build upon teamwork and execution. Date/Time: The week of Monday July 16 th through Friday July 20 th. This week will be a two practice a day week. Our first practice will be held from 7-9:30am and our second practice will be held from 7-8:30pm. (See Calendar) Attendance: All players that plan to play football at Layton High in the upcoming season must attend our Team Camp. It is vital for the development as a football player, learning our defense, offense, special teams, and competing for positions and playing time. $140 Fee: This fee covers player pack (T-shirt, shorts, practice jersey and pants, pads, and equipment) facility rental, 9 practice sessions, coaches instruction and pay, referee pay, transportation for scrimmages, team activities, and meals. Please pay in the main office, make checks payable to Layton High Football, and bring your receipt to Coach Gladwell. Money and waiver form is due Monday July 9 th. 2018 Football Season Date/Time: The 2018 Football Season officially begins Monday July 30 th. Practice will be every day until the end of the season. (See Calendar) Attendance: Mandatory attendance is required for every practice and game until the season ends. Missed Practice = Missed Playing Time.
