Age limit is 20 not yet reached 21 st birthday 1. Prizes for 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd. Trophies or plaques for each event only. NO CASH 2. A whistle or other audible device will b used for starting races. A flag system will be used for starting races when necessary. 3. All contestants in any / all events shall wear athletic type sneakers, NO oversized Footwear shall be allowed. EXCEPTION: During pushball fire boots are required. 4. All teams will race with equipment provided 5. All hose lines will be one and one! (1-3/4) except supply lines. 6. A team that does not have sufficient personal may borrow additional persons from another group if the other group will agree to the loan. 7.On any protest ONLY the team captain and ONE advisor will make the protest. 8. In ALL hose races, all couplings, adaptors, nozzles, etc. Will be on the course of the Of the appropriate starting line, touching but not on the line. 9. In ALL races, all participants will line up with their hands and feet behind and not the touching the starting line. 1. EQUIPMENT RACE---- This event requires five (5) participants. All contestants shall start one-hundred fifty (150) feet from the finish line wearing athletic type sneakers (no oversized footwear shall be allowed) with both sneakers laced through the 2 bottom holes and the 2 top holes and bow tied at the top. At the starting signal the contestants shall run 44 to the fire helmet (no rescue-type helmets shall be allowed), Fire type hip boots or bunker pants /bunker boots and fire coat (either rubber or canvas, liner required)( liners must be in both coat and bunker pants). After untying both sneakers and removing same, the contestants shall then don both fire type hip boots or bunker pants/bunker boots, and pull them up full length, and in case of bunkers, pull the suspender straps over the shoulders, don the fire coat and buckle the top 4 buckles and don the fire type helmet. ALL before leaving the 50 foot mark on the race course. (NOTE: equipment may be donned in any order) The contestants shall then run 100 to the finish line. Failure to untie completely both sneakers or the loss of either boot or not having both suspenders on the proper shoulder, or failure to buckle the top 4 buckles of the fire coat or the loss of the fire helmet before reaching the finish line, shall all be grounds for the addition of five seconds penalty time for each infraction, (loss of boot or helmet means: boot not on body, helmet hits the ground). Also, all contestants equipment shall be subject to examination by the judges upon completion of each heat. No gimmicks allowed. This event shall be run in heats of 5 contestants per heat. (NOTE: Contestants shall be allowed to touch shoelaces at the starting line before the start of each heat). 1

2. 7 MAN HOSE RACE: This event requires three (3) participants MINIMUM, and 7 MAXIMUM. Up to 7 team members allowed. Prior to start, nozzle and 3 lengths of 1-3/4 hose will be laid uncoupled and end to end on the course between a hydrant, which is 25 ft in front of the starting line and target line which is 200 ft. in front of the starting line. At signal,l participants will run from the starting line, couple the 3 lengths of hose, attach to the hydrant and nozzle and trip target with water stream from the nozzle. All requirements must be met to stop the clock. (hose may be laid in any manner as long as it is end to end and between hydrant and target line) 3. WYE RACE: This event requires five ( 5 ) participants MAXIMUM A. Equipment shall consist of 150 ft of 1-3/4 hose, 2 each 1-3/4 straight tip nozzles, one 1-3/4 wye and 2 targets. B. Race objective shall be to uncouple 1 length of hose, couple this hose to the hydrant and connect to the wye to the other end of this same hose. Then uncouple the other 2 lengths of hose and attach each length to the butt of the wye, connect a nozzle to each hose line and use a water stream from each nozzle to trip a target. C. Race Proceedure: The starting line shall be located 100 before the hydrant line. The targets shall be located 125 beyond the hydrant line. 3 fifty-foot lengths of 1-1/2 hose shall be coupled hand tight and placed in a straight flat line in the center of the course and be inspected by a judge. This hose will be placed beginning at a line located 25 feet before the hydrant line, extending down the race course 150 feet. The wye and the 2 nozzles and all contestants shall start from the starting line. At the starting signal, all contestants shall start from the starting line with the wye and nozzles. They shall connect 1 length of hose to the hydrant and connect the wye to opposite end of the same length of hose. The remaining 2 lengths of hose shall then be uncoupled from each other and 1 length of hose connected to the each butt of the wye. The nozzles shall then be connected to each length of hose and the water stream from each nozzle shall be used to trip the respective target on each side of the race course. The race procedure may be carried out in any sequence. All teams shall be responsible for setting up their own hose. The hose may be kinked by hand. No equipment shall be touched until the starting signal is given. The official time shall be taken from the starting signal and shall continue until the second target is tripped by its respective hose line. 4. MIDNIGHT ALARM / BUCKET BRIGADE------Written 1992 for Explorer Competition A. Requires 5 participants MINIMUM and 12 participants MAXIMUM. Exact number to be determined the day of the event. B. Participants are to wear sneakers or other suitable footwear. C. Equipment shall consist of not more than 12 canvas buckets, one large cow tank or other water reservoir, one fifty-five gallon or thirty gallon drum, and a target building.with eve trough attached. D. Race objective shall be to fill the drum, located at the finish line, with water, using the canvas buckets provided. 2

E. Race Procedure: The water reservoir will be placed 50 feet from the barrel. A means shall be provided so that the water level in the reservoir remains constant (ie: hydrant or pumper) Contestants start by laying on a blanket or tarp. Sneakers off. ALARM SOUNDS, each contestant gets up, puts on sneakers, ties them, runs 75 feet to the water source, picks up a bucket, fills it with water and runs 50 feet to the target stop line located 5 feet in front of the target building, and throws the water onto the roof of the target building. (The water must enter the barrel by means of an eave trough), returning to the water reservoir and back to the drum, target as many times as needed until water flows from the overflow spout or port, in a constant stream. When the water flows from the full mark, the race shall be declared over. Best overall time determines the winner.if en event a building is not available the buckets will beemptyed in to the barrell. 5. WATER BALL ACCURACY CONTEST (PUSHBALL) A. General rules--- Water ball Accuracy. 1. Turn out gear of coat, boots, and hard helmet. No cutoff boots Cutoff coats will be allowed only if! length, sewn hem and full sleeves. Bunker boots will be allowed only if worn with bunker pants. Hard helmet is a fire helmet, non rescue type B. Two team limit: eight (8) participants needed. All team captains have to sign in for their department. Entries can be added up until the beginning of the last heat of the first round. The last team signed up at the time of the draw will draw the bye into the second round.. C. Contest will be decided by best two (2) out of three (3) pushes. Times will be recorded in event of a 3 team round robin, thusly in the event of a tie, the best times will be used to break the tie. 2. All contests will be run using Sports Equipment provided. Judges will be decided before the contests begin. ONE AND THREE QUARTER INCH HOSE WATER BALL ACCURACY EVENT 1. Nozzle Pressures Operating nozzle pressure for water-ball accuracy event shall be set at eighty (80) PSI at the tip of the nozzle. 2. During any water-ball accuracy contest, one (1) contestant may hold or play the nozzle position. The remaining three (3) contestants shall be used to handle the hose and be prepared to advance it forward or move it back so as not to hinder the nozzle operator. 3. During all water-ball accuracy events all four (4) contestants on each team shall have at least one ( 1) hand on the hose or nozzle at all times. In case of any contestant falling, the center judge shall be responsible for determining whether or not contact or control of the hose is lost. Failure to hold hose or nozzle or loss of control shall result in a disqualification of that team for that heat, and credit for the win of that heat will be awarded to the opposing team. 4. In all water-ball accuracy contests, each team, at he completion of each heat, shall return water-stream to pavement, SET (NOT DROP) nozzle on ground after the line is shut down and exchange ends of the wire. 3

5. In all water-ball accuracy contests, any team intentionally turning their water stream on an opposing team shall automatically forfeit that heat. 6. During all water-ball accuracy events, the nozzle and caller persons of any team can NOT reverse positions or play on any other team. 7. In the event of injury or illness, substitutions will be allowed, but NO nozzle man or caller that has played that day can be used as a substitute. 4
