Presentation Night 2015 Twilight bowls for the Dengate-Waters Trophy was played in ideal weather conditions on a beautifully manicured green. Our number 2 green had only been back in use for two days and it ran superbly. The winners of the Trophy this year were Pam Bishop and Chris Smith. ACT Singles 2015 It was great to see so many of our members enter the ACT Singles Championship. There were 8 ladies and 7 men representing Canberra Bowling Club this year. One of the largest number of entries in any given year, thanks to the influx of new members. By all reports, everyone acquitted themselves well with Mina Bannerman making it through to the Women s Quarter-Final and Mark Dulihanty winning through to the Semi-Final and just being beaten by the eventual champion, Jamie Freeman. The Women s Final was won by Sharon Steele, Weston Creek. Well done everyone. Congratulations to Heather Leonard on qualifying as an official bowl Club Coach. Heather will be available to assist and coach all members and prospective members. ACT EVENTS Weekend Pennants after 4 rounds Men s Grade 1 Men s Grade 2
Men s Grade 4 Men s Grade 6 Women s Grade 1 Shades and more on offer: A big thank you to all the members who put in a tremendous effort to retrieve equipment, accessories, and other paraphernalia from the West Deakin Bowling Club site prior to the final closing of the club. If you haven t noticed, there are now shades available across the rear of the greens to help keep you a bit cooler during the summer games. Thanks to Ian O Brien and volunteers Geoff McKay, Mike Jensen, Ken Derbyshire, Cliff Bishop, and Bill Stevenson on the big effort you put in to ensure that the shades not only were erected but in such a way that they don t impede the players movement along the bank. Great work guys. As promised: Just letting everybody know that Marie Baldwin put down two terrible bowls on one End during the Pennants game against Belconnen. I was going to put it into the Canberra Times but thought it better to place the information here as I promised. Mind you, Marie played lovely on most of the other Ends. Coaching - Pauline Trounson or Gayle Young are official bowls coaches, they are very happy to take groups or single bowlers. Please contact Pauline on 6296 1733 or Gayle on 6295 9566 to arrange a suitable date and time.
Reminders "On behalf of members from West Deakin Hellenic Club a big THANK YOU to Canberra Bowling Club for the welcome they have given our people".
