Code of Conduct for Educational Visits Naturally, we expect a very high standard of behaviour at all times and the usual school rules that apply on all visits must be adhered to. Rules are few but must be obeyed at all times: CONDUCT AND SAFETY ON THE TOUR Smoking will not be allowed. Neither will the purchasing of cigarettes or lighters. Students must not buy, attempt to buy or consume alcohol. Unapproved mixing with other individuals or groups will not be tolerated. Students must meet at the exact times and places arranged. GENERAL SAFETY IN ACCOMODATION Caution must be taken when using lifts only use when necessary. Extreme caution must be taken when using electrical appliances in the student s rooms. (Make sure to turn off electrical items before leaving the hotel). Students should only open their room door to a member of school staff. TRANSPORT BY COACH Students must use seatbelts at all times this is now law. All rubbish must be placed in the litter bags provided. Take care when leaving the coach, especially in big cities or at motorway service stations.
Essential Information HEALTH AND SAFETY / EMERGENCY SITUATIONS The group leader will, on entry to the hotel and other public places, give thorough verbal instructions on what to do in case of fire or other emergencies. Students must listen clearly to instructions & advice given by any member of staff. MEDICAL CONDITIONS Students suffering from asthma should take care to carry their inhalers with them at all times. A spare inhaler must be given to the group leader prior to travel and must be labelled clearly. Any other medical conditions should be brought to our attention as soon as possible. Any extra medication that may be required in the unlikely event of any delays should also be handed to the group leader and labelled with name and dosage instructions prior to travel. MOBILE PHONES Students will not be allowed to use the hotel phones, as there is a high charge for these, therefore if your child has their own mobile phone it is advised that they bring it with them. Your child will be issued with a staff mobile number upon arrival to be used in cases of emergency during the trip. SPENDING MONEY Students may bring as much or as little spending money as they wish. (They only need enough money to buy their outbound lunch and evening meal on the return journey everything else is included in the trip). Students attending the London trip usually bring money to spend on programmes, ice creams and souvenirs.
Essential Information HOTEL DISTURBANCE POLICY All school groups have to pay a deposit of 50 per student upon arrival at the hotel. It is hotel policy that students are not out of their rooms after 11pm. Any reports of students out of their rooms after 11pm or excessive noise will result in your child losing their deposit. This will be payable by parents upon our return. DIRECT SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS For most of the trip, the whole group will remain together. However, at times, it may be more appropriate to allow your child some time to visit areas without the direct supervision of staff. Safety measures for time spent un-supervised: Students must always stay within their agreed groups of no less than four. Students must stay in specified areas. Group leaders will remain in close proximity to their group. Regular headcounts and registers will be taken. Students must meet in agreed locations on time.

Emergency Contacts If we need to contact any individual parents we will do so using staff mobile phones or from the hotel. To up-date you on arrival times we will ask students to contact you via their own mobile phones (they may borrow staff phones if they do not have their own). If there is a larger emergency and we need to contact all parents we will do so via our emergency contact at the school: Sheila Kennedy, Educational Visits Co-ordinator. IF YOU NEED TO CONTACT A MEMBER OF STAFF IN AN EMERGENCY PLEASE CALL THE SCHOOL ON 01723 366451 AND THEY WILL CONTACT ME ON OUR EMERGENCY MOBILE PHONE. OUT OF SCHOOL HOURS YOU MAY CONTACT THE HOTEL AND THEY WILL MAKE CONTACT WITH ME ASAP. THE HOTEL NUMBER IS: 0871 984 6245
Please feel safe in the knowledge that your child will be enjoying themselves and the best possible care is being taken of them. If you have any concerns about this information or any other matters, please do not hesitate to speak to any members of accompanying staff at school.
