About 2018 marks the 11th year of Kites in the Park, a spring tradition in Fort Collins when families gather at Spring Canyon Park to color the skies with kites. Kites in the Park invites more than 8,000 individuals to engage in concessions, giveaways, arts and crafts activities, and of course, kite flying. Kite fliers from around the world travel to Colorado s largest kite festival to perform kite demonstrations such as kite ballet, and to compete in Rokkaku kite fighting. Spring Canyon Park is divided into different field zones for kite performances and for free flying of your own kite. Youth and families have fun decorating their own kites and visiting the food and promotional vendors stationed throughout the park. The City of Fort Collins will retain 25% of the sponsorship contribution for services rendered prior to the event, including but not limited to sponsor recognition and promotion. Sponsors also have the option to donate 100% of their contribution to the City of Fort Collins Recreation Department.
