For our teams in the Pacific-Asia zone, that have already qualified for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, in PyeongChang, Republic of Korea, and those who are looking to qualify through the Olympic Qualification Event, in Pilsen, Czech Republic, this will be the final chance to prepare for those events. The teams will also be battling hard to qualify for the Ford World Women s Curling Championship 2018 in North Bay, Ontario, Canada and the World Men s Curling Championship 2018 in Las Vegas, United States. Following a vote at our recent Annual General Assembly, three teams rather than the traditional two teams, will qualify for our World Curling Championships this season. This change offers a great opportunity for the Member Associations competing in this region and highlights the growth of our sport in an area where the next two Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held. I know that for each team playing here, it will be an unforgettable experience and I know the organisers will do their utmost to put on an outstanding event, whilst also embracing the true Spirit of Curling for which our sport is renowned. I m sure that everyone in Erina is looking forward to welcoming the teams and supporters to the city, with a warm curling welcome. It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2017, in Erina, Australia.
