The Game Both the Liberty Lady Flames (6-7, 0-0 Big South) and the American Eagles (5-9, 0-0 Patriot) enter 2007 looking for improved results during the new year. Liberty has dropped its last four contests and seven of its last eight outings, while the Eagles enter tonight s game on a two-game losing streak. The Last Time Out Liberty led UNC Greensboro, 36-33, at halftime of the Terrapin Classic consolation game on Dec. 30 before the Spartans came back to record a 67-59 victory. Jasmine Byrd tossed in a game-high 21 points for UNCG, who outrebounded the Lady Flames by a 52-40 count. Moriah Frazee paced Liberty with a season-high 17 points and Jamie Feagin tied a career high with nine rebounds. Lady Flames On The Air All Lady Flames basketball games can be heard LIVE on WWMC 90.9 FM "The Light." Jamie Hall, who is celebrating his 13th year of broadcasting Lady Flames basketball, will once again be handling the courtside play-by-play duties for all road games and selected home contests. Jerod Brooks and Nick Pierce will serve as the primary commentators for home games. Green has accumulated a 172-59 record in his seven-plus years on the Liberty bench, good for a winning percentage of.745. He ranked ninth among active NCAA Division I women s basketball coaches in that category, entering the season. Liberty has won the Big South Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each of Green s seven seasons as the Lady Flames head coach. Liberty has totaled 23 or more victories in six of those years, including the 2004-05 season that saw the Lady Flames reach the Sweet 16 for the first time in the program s history. Green has actually been to the postseason in each of his last 19 seasons as a women s basketball coach, a span which includes a dozen years as an assistant coach at Clemson. In all but one of those 19 appearances, he has experienced the NCAA Tournament. The 2005-06 season represented one of the best coaching jobs of Green s career. The Lady Flames had lost the top four scorers from the Sweet 16 squad to graduation. Moreover, freshman Megan Frazee averaged 18.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game through the first 14 games of her collegiate career, but was lost for the remainder of the season due to injury. Yet, Liberty was still able to win 25 games, its 10th-straight Big South title and its 10th-consecutive NCAA Tournament berth. Green s efforts were recognized by both the Big South Conference and the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID). Both groups named Green as their women s basketball coach of the year at season s end. It was the third time that he has won each of those honors and is the second-straight time Green was selected as the VaSID Coach of the Year. A key late-season conference victory over High Point made Green the winningest coach in Big South Conference history. The previous season, Green had passed Rick Reeves as Liberty s career wins leader. That was just one of the many reasons that the 2004-05 year was a special one on Liberty Mountain. A senior-laden Lady Flames team recorded upset wins over No. 4 seed Penn State (78-70) and No. 5 seed DePaul (88-79) in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, becoming just the second team ever to advance to the Sweet 16 as a No. 13 seed. The Lady Flames ended the season with their highest national ranking to date, 21st (USA Today/ESPN). Even with all his accolades, Green is not yet satisfied. The native of Louisville, Tenn., located just outside of Knoxville, knows there s work yet to be done with the Lady Flames. We have some tremendous challenges ahead of us and I believe the team will be up to those challenges, Green says. I am pleased with the direction and progress of our program but of course, I, as well as the team, have higher aspirations, goals and expectations. Green s track record shows that he has the ability to meet those challenges. The Lady Flames have recorded two wins over Virginia and West Virginia and victories over No. 19 DePaul, No. 17 Kansas State, No. 25 Penn State, Wake Forest and UNLV during Green s tenure. The upset victory over the 25th-ranked Cavaliers in 2003 marked Liberty s first win over a Top 25 team. His record against conference foes is equally impressive, as he led the Lady Flames to a Big South record 46-game winning streak and currently has a.941 (112-7) winning percentage against conference teams. Green has marched through conference play with one or fewer setbacks five times in his seven years, while guiding the Lady Flames to two undefeated conference seasons.

Three starters from that team are back and those key returnees have been joined by 5-7 junior guard Liz Hayes, a transfer from Delaware. The Eagles have recorded five wins in their first 14 games this year, including a trio of road victories. Hayes has stepped right in as the team s leading scorer, pacing American with 16.7 ppg. She poured in 30 points against Monmouth and has picked up a pair of Patriot League Player of the Week awards. Nicole Ryan, a 5-8 sophomore guard, gives the Eagles a second double-digit scorer, averaging 11.0 ppg. The Coaching Matchup Liberty Head Coach Carey Green is in his eighth season with the Lady Flames. He owns a 172-59 career record and is the all-time wins leader at Liberty and among Big South women s basketball coaches. His career winning percentage (.745) ranked ninth among active NCAA Division I women s basketball coaches at the season s outset. Melissa McFerrin enters tonight s game with a 24-46 record during two-plus seasons at American. Prior to joining the Eagles, she was an assistant coach for the 2004 Minnesota team that reached the Final Four and on the 1993 Ohio State squad that did the same. Series Record American owns a 4-3 lead in the all-time head-to-head series between the Lady Flames and the Eagles, but Liberty has won three-straight meetings between the two squads. The Lady Flames are 4-8 all-time versus the current Patriot League members, including a 3-4 mark versus American and a 1-4 ledger against Navy. Consecutive Free Throw Streak Molly Frazee made 20-consecutive free throws between Nov. 14 and Dec. 10 before misfiring at George Washington. That marks the longest string of consecutive made free throws by a Liberty women s basketball player since Kristal Tharp also sank 20-straight charity tosses during the 2003-04 season. Big South Player of the Week x 3 Megan Frazee has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Player of the Week on three occasions this season. The sophomore, who has now captured this award five times in her career, garnered her most recent honor on Dec. 11 after averaging 21.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg in the Lady Flames contests against Virginia Tech and No. 19 George Washington. Frazee led all players with 28 points and 10 rebounds against the nationally-ranked Colonials. Home Sweet Home In recent years, the Furnace has been anything but warm to opponents. Under Head Coach Carey Green, the Lady Flames are 87-11 (.888) at home. Liberty went 15-0 at the Vines Center last season, marking the fourth time in school history that the Lady Flames have enjoyed a perfect home record. Last season, Liberty was 6-1 during the initial month of 2006. Under Head Coach Carey Green, the Lady Flames have recorded a 50-7 mark in January outings. The 2002-03 Liberty team went 9-0 in January. This season, Liberty has seven games scheduled during January, including a quartet of home contests. The Lady Flames only played four total home games during November and December. Rewriting the Record Book Liberty set a Vines Center record for field goal percentage defense on Nov. 16 when it limited Columbia Union to 13.3 percent (8-60) shooting from the floor. The Lady Flames 97 points represented the team s largest scoring output since the team defeated Cedarville, 103-61, on Dec. 13, 1997 and are the most points Liberty has scored under Carey Green s direction. A Rare Occurrence Liberty s 58-54 loss to Texas-Arlington on Dec. 19 at the Caribbean Classic represented the Lady Flames first setback to a team with a losing record since Wisconsin- Milwaukee knocked off Liberty, 65-56, on Nov. 30, 2003. The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same With zero seniors graduating from last year s Liberty team and no freshmen joining this year s squad, Lady Flames Head Coach Carey Green has the rare luxury of suiting up the exact same 14 players for two-consecutive seasons. He also returns his entire coaching staff from the 2005-06 campaign. Championship Streaks Continue The Lady Flames current streak of dominance in the Big South Conference puts them among the nation s longest conference championship runs. Liberty hoisted the Big South Championship trophy for the 10th-straight year a season ago, keeping alive the second-longest active string of conference tournament titles in the nation. Only Old Dominion, among NCAA Division I teams, currently owns a longer streak, having won 15-consecutive CAA conference crowns. Liberty has also earned nine-straight Big South regular season titles. Only UC Santa Barbara, who has claimed 11-consecutive Big West regular season championships, owns a lengthier string of success. Lady Flames Set to Battle Wide Range of Non-Conference Foes This season, Liberty will battle teams from 10 different Division I conferences during its non-conference slate. These include the ACC (Virginia and Virginia Tech), the America East (Binghamton), the Atlantic 10 (George Washington), the BIG EAST (Pittsburgh), the CAA (George Mason and James Madison), the MAAC (Marist), the MEAC (Norfolk State), the Patriot (American), the Southern (UNC Greensboro) and the Southland (Texas-Arlington). Difficult Road Ahead The Lady Flames are set to face one of the most ambitious non-conference schedules in program history this season. Liberty is slated to play three teams (George Washington, Marist and Virginia Tech) which qualified for the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Green Tops in Big South Liberty Head Coach Carey Green currently ranks as the winningest coach in Big South Conference history with a.745 winning percentage. Liberty s best non-conference season came in 1997-98 when the Lady Flames went 14-1 outside the Big South. The Lady Flames only non-conference loss that season came to eventual national champion Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Lehigh Susan Troyan 3.338 Big South Conference 2006 Preseason Rankings & All-Conference Team Liberty has been picked to win the Big South Conference title for the 11th-straight season, sophomore guard/forward Megan Frazee was tabbed as the Big South Preseason Player of the Year and junior guard Allyson Fasnacht was named to the Big South All-Conference Team for the second straight year. These distinctions were the result of a poll taken by the conference head coaches, sports information directors and selected media. The Lady Flames, who return their entire 14-player roster from last season, received 21 of a possible 26 first-place votes and 202 total points to easily outdistance High Point. Liberty was 13-1 in conference play a season ago and captured the Big South Championship for the 10th-consecutive time. High Point, which dealt Liberty its only regular season loss and was the runner-up of the conference tournament, took four first-place votes and racked up 178 total points, finishing second in the balloting. Winthrop, the most improved team in the conference a season ago, got 136 points to rank third. Coastal Carolina was tabbed to finish fourth with 117 points. Radford picked up the last remaining first-place vote and was selected fifth with a total of 115 points. UNC Asheville, the host of the 2007 Big South Championship, was picked sixth with 100 points. Birmingham-Southern and Charleston Southern shared seventh place with 44 points apiece. Frazee, who was averaging 18.5 ppg and 9.8 rpg as a freshman before an ACL injury during game 14 ended her season, is the first Liberty player to be selected Big South Preseason Player of the Year since Katie Feenstra in 2004. Fasnacht is coming off of a season that saw her be named to the Big South All-Conference first-team roster and take home Big South Championship MVP honors. Her 31 points is believed to equal a school record for points in one half. Elena Kisseleva tallied 31 points in the second half of a 96-90 win over Akron on Dec. 7, 1996. Frazee s 37 points represents the third-highest single-game scoring output in program history. Katie Feenstra holds the record with 40 points, a standard she established on Feb. 3, 2004 against Winthrop. Triple the Trouble The Nov. 11 season opener against Norfolk State marked the first time that all three Frazee triplets (Megan, Molly and Moriah) scored in double figures in the same contest since arriving at Liberty. Megan led the way with 19 points, Moriah added 14 and Molly matched her then-career high with 10 markers. The trio pulled off the same feat in a Nov. 14 game at George Mason, as Megan totaled 25 points, Moriah had 15 and Molly again scored 10. Megan, Molly and Moriah were all included in the Liberty starting lineup on Nov. 29 at James Madison, marking the first time that all three triplets have started together at Liberty. The Frazees have now started together eight-straight times. The triplets currently account for 33.4 ppg and 18.2 rpg. That represents 51.9 percent of the Lady Flames total scoring output and 43.3 percent of the team s total rebounds. The Frazees, the only set of triplets currently playing Division I women s basketball, were featured on ESPN.com earlier this season, as columnist Beth Mowins wrote a piece entitled, Liberty has three times the fun in Frazee triplets. Lack of Losing Streaks Liberty s current four-game losing skein is the team s lengthiest losing streak since the 2000-01 Lady Flames dropped seven-straight contests during the month of December. The Lady Flames have only lost as many as three games in succession four times under Head Coach Carey Green s tutelage. Sparkling Seniors Four seniors (Jamie Feagin, Leslie Jones, Michelle Parker and Karolina Piotrkiewicz) are included on the Liberty roster this season. If the Lady Flames accumulate 25 or more wins this season, that quartet will graduate as the winningest class in program history. Lack of Overtime For the second-straight season, Liberty did not play a single overtime contest in 2005-06. The last time that the Lady Flames had to play more than 40 minutes came on Jan. 6, 2004, when Liberty defeated American, 76-72, on the road in double overtime. Since that game, the Lady Flames have played 96-straight non-overtime games. The Lady Flames most recent overtime loss came on Dec. 6, 2004 against No. 24 Boston College at the Brown Classic. BC took a 74-70 decision in that contest. Liberty s last overtime contest at the Vines Center was a memorable one. The Lady Flames defeated Virginia, 77-69, in overtime on Nov. 26, 2002, to claim their first-ever win over the Cavaliers. Controlling the Commonwealth Liberty fared well against in-state opponents a season ago, going 6-1 against fellow Virginia institutions. The Lady Flames went 1-0 vs. Longwood, 1-0 vs. Norfolk State, 2-0 vs. Radford, 1-0 vs. Virginia Union and 1-0 vs. William & Mary. Liberty s lone loss against a Virginia school came at Virginia Tech (Dec. 10). The Lady Flames are 4-2 against in-state opponents this season, owning victories over George Mason, Norfolk State, Virginia and Virginia Union and dropping games against James Madison and Virginia Tech. A Fast Start for Frazee Megan Frazee has played only 27 games in a Liberty uniform, yet she has scored more career points (486) than any of her teammates, an average of 18.0 ppg. Elena Kisseleva, Liberty s all-time leading scorer with 2,154 points, posted 18.1 ppg during her four years with the Lady Flames. Frazee is currently 45th on Liberty s all-time scoring list and needs 14 more markers to become the 43rd Lady Flame to reach the 500-point mark for her career. 15th Year in the Furnace The 2006-07 season is the 15th season that the Liberty University women s basketball team has called the Vines Center its full-time home. Liberty s bench performers have outscored their opponent s non-starters in 10 of 13 games thus far, by an average of 11.0 ppg. Opponents reserves have been limited to 10 points or fewer six times. Long Distance Connection The Lady Flames have made at least one three-pointer in 53-straight games, a streak which began on Jan. 26, 2005. This is Liberty s longest such streak since the Lady Flames went 82-consecutive games with a three-pointer between Jan. 24, 1998 and Dec. 20, 2000. Ripping Down the Rebounds In eight out of 13 games this season, Liberty has won the rebounding battle. Stingy Defense The Lady Flames have made it very difficult for opponents to score this season. Liberty foes are shooting just 34.7 percent from the field, a statistic which ranked 10th in the nation in the most recent NCAA report. Liberty has held opponents field goal percentages to 30 percent or lower in eight of 26 halves this season. Excellence at the Charity Stripe Sophomore Molly Frazee has reversed her fortunes at the foul line from last season. As a freshman, Frazee connected on just 41.4 percent of her free throws. This year, she is shooting foul shots at a 80.4 percent rate, ranking third in the Big South in that category. Junior guard Allyson Fasnacht is a 79.4 percent free throw shooter for her career. If she can continue sinking foul shots at that rate, she will break Kristi Mercer s career program record of 79.2 percent. Fasnacht is making a career-best 83.3 percent of her charity tosses this season. Megan Frazee is also proficient from the charity stripe. She is the fifth-leading free throw shooter in the conference at 75.5 percent and shoots at a 73.9 percent clip for her career. Game 1 Lynchburg, Va. Sophomore Megan Frazee excelled in her return from a knee injury, leading all players with 19 points and 13 rebounds in Liberty s season opener and home opener, a 91-53 win over the Norfolk State Spartans. Consecutive three-pointers by the Spartans Tiffany Jenkins highlighted a 13-1 run which gave the visitors a 14-7 lead with 14:20 showing on the first-half clock. Norfolk State s lead stood at 25-23 before Molly Frazee ignited a 20-0 Liberty run with a three-pointer. Much of the surge came with the Lady Flames second unit on the floor. Liberty sophomore Rebecca Lightfoot notched five points during the run and the Lady Flames forced 15-consecutive missed shots by Norfolk State. Liberty took a 47-27 advantage into the locker room. Early in the second half, the Spartans trimmed the lead to 18 (55-37) on a Toia Johnson three-pointer at the 15:43 mark. The Lady Flames then put the game away with an 18-3 burst which included eight free throws. Moriah Frazee s layup at 8:10 of the second half made the score 73-40, Liberty. From that point on, the Lady Flames cruised to a 91-53 victory. Eleven of the Liberty players who saw action reached the scoring column, helping the Lady Flames score their most points since totaling 94 in a Dec. 4, 1999 game at Richmond. Liberty outrebounded the visitors, 62-37, and dished out 25 assists. Five Lady Flames, includnig all three Frazee triplets, reached double figures. The Frazee triplets combined to score 50 of Liberty s 61 points, helping the Lady Flames overcome a 10-point halftime deficit and take a 61-56 victory at George Mason. The win was the Lady Flames first in 12 tries against the Patriots. Liberty took advantage of four-straight George Mason turnovers to jump out to a 7-0 lead. The Patriots nailed threestraight three-pointers during an 11-0 run that gave the home team a 33-25 lead 3:25 before halftime. George Mason s C Vette Henson then banked in a shot from long range just before the halftime buzzer, giving the Patriots a 39-29 advantage at the break. The home team took an 11-point lead, 43-32, early in the second half, before Liberty commenced its comeback. An 11-2 run, capped by a Michelle Parker jumper, lifted the Lady Flames to their first lead of the second half, 53-52, with 5:20 remaining in the contest. George Mason would not lead again, going the last 9:20 of the game without a field goal and tallying just four free throws during that period. The Patriots still had a chance to tie the game, as they were down by three points in the final 30 seconds before Megan Frazee rebounded a missed three-pointer and sealed the win with a pair of charity tosses. Game 3 Lynchburg, Va. Liberty jumped out to a 16-0 lead and never looked back, cruising to its thirdconsecutive win to start the year and its 21st-straight victory at the Vines Center, a 97-27 triumph over Columbia Union. Courtney Watkins tallied five points during the game-opening 16-0 run as the Lady Flames kept the Pioneers off the scoreboard for the first 6:15 of play. Megan Frazee s shot in the paint capped a 19-0 surge later in the opening half, giving Liberty a 45-6 advantage 2:20 before halftime. The home team s lead stood at 47-8 at intermission. Columbia Union s Lisa Brewer tossed in all of her team-high 10 points after the half, but Liberty was able to go on to claim a 97-27 win. The point total was the Lady Flames highest singlegame output during Head Coach Carey Green s tenure and was the team s most since a 103-61 win over Cedarville on Dec. 13, 1997. The 70-point margin of victory represented Liberty s most lopsided score since a 104-15 victory over Valley Forge on Jan. 14, 1995. Liberty limited Columbia Union to 13.3 percent (8-60) shooting from the field, establishing a Vines Center record for field goal percentage defense. Karolina Piotrkiewicz led all players in points (14) and rebounds (12). Megan Frazee added 13 points and eight boards in only 15 minutes of action. All 13 players who saw playing time for Liberty reached the scoring column. Game 4 Charlottesville, Va. Liberty sophomore Megan Frazee scored 31 of her career-high 37 points after halftime, enabling the Lady Flames to erase a nine-point second-half deficit and claim a 75-71 win at Virginia. The victory was Liberty s second-ever triumph against its in-state rival and was the Cavaliers firstever loss in the new John Paul Jones Arena. The home team got off to a fast start, taking a 14-1 lead at the 13:17 mark of the first half. Liberty chipped away at the Virginia advantage and took its first lead, 32-30, at 2:44, when Michelle Parker scored the third of three-consecutive transition baskets for the Lady Flames. The Cavaliers owned a 34-32 lead at the intermission. Liberty s bench helped the team remain within striking distance during the initial 20 minutes, tallying 23 of the Lady Flames 32 points. Virginia used a 9-0 surge to take a 57-48 lead with 10:03 left in the game. Sharnee Zoll, who led the Cavaliers with 20 points, had the last two hoops of that run. Liberty responded with an 18-3 burst. Moriah Frazee s two free throws at 2:34 gave the Lady Flames a 66-60 lead, one they would not relinquish. A Monica Wright four-point play and a three-point play by Zoll allowed Virginia to cut the lead to one point (72-71), but the Lady Flames hit five-of-six free throws in the final minute to seal the win. Megan Frazee s point total was the third-highest single-game output in program history and she also grabbed a game-high 15 boards. Molly Frazee added a career-best 11 markers. Game 5 Binghamton, N.Y. Liberty used separate runs of 15-2 and 12-1 to break open a close game and record its 10th-consecutive road triumph, a 62-45 victory at Binghamton. Molly Frazee s lay-up at the 8:00 mark of the first half gave the Lady Flames a 16-5 lead. Binghamton used the three-point arc to close the gap, sinking a pair of shots from long distance during a 12-2 run. Laura Sario s bank shot at 1:50 closed the burst and cut the visitors advantage to 18-17. Courtney Watkins nailed a three-pointer for the Lady Flames 32 seconds before halftime, making the score 23-19, Liberty at the intermission. Binghamton came out and scored six of the eight points of the second half, knotting the score at 25 on Shea Kenny s jumper with 18:57 showing on the clock. The Lady Flames then put together a 15-2 surge, getting five points apiece from Watkins and Allyson Fasnacht. Watkins shot from the paint at 13:46 pushed Liberty s lead back up to 13, 40-27. The Bearcats tallied the game s next eight points, including two Kenny three-pointers. Her second connection from behind the arc made the score, 40-35, at the 12:31 mark. Senior center Meredith Alexis totaled 28 points and 11 rebounds, helping James Madison hand Liberty its first loss of the 2006-07 season, 74-64, at the JMU Convocation Center. The victory was the Dukes 15th-consecutive home triumph and snapped a 10-game road winning streak for the Lady Flames. James Madison used a 9-0 run to take an early 17-9 lead on Tamera Young s long threepointer at 14:01 of the first half. The Dukes advantage was eight points before Liberty closed the opening half with a 7-0 run. Molly Frazee, making her first career start, nailed a three-pointer 39 seconds before the intermission, shaving JMU s edge to 31-30. Molly Frazee led Liberty with 10 points and a career-best six rebounds in the opening half. The home team tallied seven of the second half s first eight points. Alexis made a shot from the paint to cap the run and make the score 38-31 with 18:14 left. Game 7 Lynchburg, Va. Virginia Tech, on the strength of a careerhigh 19 points by Britney Anderson, erased a 10-point deficit late in the opening half to claim a hard-fought, 55-52 victory at Liberty. The victory improved the Hokies all-time record against the Lady Flames to 13-0 and snapped Liberty s 21- game home winning streak. The visitors jumped out to an early, 6-2 lead. Roli-Ann Nikagbatse s fast break lay-up at 15:27 gave the Lady Flames their first lead, 10-9, and was part of an 8-0 run. Liberty led by as many as 10 points, 26-16, before Virginia Tech closed the half on a 7-3 run, featuring back-to-back Kirby Copeland lay-ups. Liberty s advantage at the intermission stood at 29-23. The Hokies scored seven of the first nine second-half points, trimming its deficit to 31-30 on Brittany Cook s jumper with 17:41 left. The teams went back and forth until Nare Diawara sank a baseline jumper at 11:29, lifting Virginia Tech to a 42-41 lead, its first edge since 9-8. Liberty never regained the lead, although the Lady Flames tied the score on three occasions. Megan Frazee s tip-in with 2:18 left made the score, 49-49. All five George Washington starters reached double figures, helping the No. 19 Colonials erase a 12-point first-half deficit and record a 74-66 victory over Liberty at the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. The Lady Flames lost despite a game-high, 28-point, 10-rebound effort by Megan Frazee. Kimberly Beck capped a 10-0 George Washington run with a threepointer 13:08 before halftime, lifting the Colonials to an early, 12-6 lead. Separate runs of 12-3 and 10-1 by the visitors lifted the Lady Flames to a 10-point lead. Megan Frazee made the last three baskets of the 10-1 burst, pushing Liberty s advantage to 28-18 at 6:49. The Lady Flames led by as many as 12 points on two separate occasions late in the first half before taking a 37-29 advantage into the locker room. Megan Frazee made eight-of-nine field goals in the first half and paced all players with 18 markers. Whitney Allen s three-pointer from the top of the key with 13:49 left in the game wrapped up a 12-3 run by the Colonials and knotted the score at 44. Game 9 Lynchburg, Va. All 11 players who saw action for Liberty found the scoring column, helping the Lady Flames snap a three-game losing skid with a comfortable, 66-49 win over visiting Virginia Union. The Panthers led by as many as three points in the game s early stages. Virginia Union owned an 18-17 advantage after Ashley Hill s third three-pointer of the opening half at 6:27. Liberty then turned up its defensive pressure, holding the visitors without a point for the next 6:05 of play. Meanwhile, the Lady Flames closed the half on a 16-2 run, featuring seven Moriah Frazee markers. Liberty took a 33-20 lead into the locker room. Roli-Ann Nikagbatse tallied five points during a 13-3 run halfway through the second half. Her jumper with 12:52 showing on the game clock lifted the Lady Flames to their largest lead of the game, 52-27. Virginia Union used separate runs of 6-1 and 10-1 to claw back into the contest. Hill s three-point play at 2:18 trimmed Liberty s lead to 13 points, 59-46. The Lady Flames then put the game out of reach by scoring the next five points. Megan Frazee paced Liberty s balanced scoring attack with 12 points and also matched a career high with six assists. Moriah Frazee chipped in with 11 points and a team-best seven rebounds. Game 10 Cancun, Mexico Senior guard Terra Wallace scored nine of her game-high 26 points during a 12-0 run that enabled Texas-Arlington to overcome an eight-point deficit and capture a 58-54 win over Liberty in the opening game of the Caribbean Classic in Cancun, Mexico. The lead changed hands several times during the contest s early stages, before the Lady Flames limited the Mavericks to just three points during a 9:17 stretch of the first half. While Texas-Arlilngton struggled at the offensive end, Liberty ran off a 15-3 run, including five Megan Frazee tallies. Rebecca Lightfoot capped the run with a lay-up off of a nice pass by Courtney Watkins, lifting Liberty to a 25-17 advantage. The Mavericks bounced back with a 10-3 surge of their own, closing the gap to 28-27 on a perimeter jumper by Ashley Bobb 1:38 before halftime. The Lady Flames took a 30-27 lead into the locker room. The score was knotted at 38 when Liberty ripped off a quick, 5-0 run. A left-handed floater by Michelle Parker as the shot clock buzzer sounded gave the Lady Flames a 43-38 edge with 9:25 showing on the second-half clock. After Texas-Arlington narrowed the deficit to one point, Liberty went on an 8-1 run. Megan Frazee s free throw at 3:38 made the score 51-43, Liberty. The Mavericks then crafted their aforementioned 12-0 spurt, taking the lead for good on a Wallace steal and jumper with 1:15 left. Her basket left the count at 53-51 in favor of Texas-Arlington. Game 11 Cancun, Mexico Shavonte Zellous tossed in 17 of her 23 points after halftime, enabling No. 22 Pittsburgh to remain undefeated with a 54-47, come-from-behind triumph over Liberty on day two of the Caribbean Classic in Cancun, Mexico. After Liberty scored the game s first five points during the opening minute of play, the Panthers recorded the next 12 markers. Pitt s lead stood at 12-5 at 14:29 after a bucket by Marcedes Walker. The Panthers owned an eight-point advantage, 21-13, before the Lady Flames closed the opening half with a 13-3 surge. Rebecca Lightfoot s three-point play at the 1:22 mark gave Liberty a 26-24 halftime advantage. Courtney Watkins wrapped up an 8-2 run early in the second half with a three-pointer. Her long-distance connection lifted Liberty to a 38-30 lead with 11:42 remaining. The Lady Flames also led by eight at 40-32 but scored just one field goal during the final 10:24 of play. Pittsburgh scored the next 10 points and reclaimed a 42-40 lead with 5:41 showing on the game clock on a Zellous hoop. Liberty trimmed the deficit to 10-5 after all three Frazee triplets scored during a 5-2 burst. Marist then took control of the game with an ensuing 14-2 run. Rachele Fitz s basket at the 7:26 mark lifted her team to a 24-7 lead. Kristin Hein became the fifth different Red Fox to make a three-pointer during the opening half, capping an 8-0 Marist run and giving the Red Foxes their largest first-half lead, 34-12, 2:20 before the intermission. Game 13 College Park, Md. UNC Greensboro outrebounded Liberty by a 52-40 count and handed the Lady Flames their fourth-straight defeat, 67-59, in the consolation game of the Terrapin Classic at the Comcast Center. Jasmine Byrd, who led all scorers with 21 points, made two three-pointers in the game s early stages, helping her team claim an 11-2 edge. Liberty battled back and took its first lead of the tournament, 26-25, at the 5:16 mark when Moriah Frazee made a pair of free throws to cap an 8-0 run. Byrd tallied the game s next six markers, allowing the Spartans to reclaim the advantage, 31-26. Moriah Frazee recorded eight points during a half-ending, 10-2 run for the Lady Flames. Liberty took a 36-33 lead into the locker room after Frazee s three-point play with 28 seconds left on the first-half clock. UNC Greensboro opened the second half with a 19-4 run. Byrd s steal and lay-up with 12:38 remaining in the game gave UNCG its largest lead, 52-40. The Lady Flames shaved the lead to two points twice, including 61-59 after Jamie Feagin made two free throws at the 2:54 mark. Those would be Liberty s last points, as the Lady Flames went without a field goal for the final 7:41 of play. Byrd sealed UNC Greensboro s win with a three-pointer at 1:48, lifting the Spartan advantage to 64-59. Kaleah Latham had 14 points and 14 rebounds, helping UNCG Head Coach Lynne Agee win her 500th game with the Spartans.
