Commitment
Cheerleader commitment Attend all practices and performances on time Follow the student code of conduct Be respectful of peers, adults, and the school you represent. To be prepared in all aspects of school including class, practice, performances ect. Follow the guidelines laid out in the cheerleading handbook (see demerits)
Parent Commitment To drop of/pick up your child at all practices and performances on time. To assist your child in all fundraising/team building activities To pay for the cost of participation. ($350.00 uniform + $135.00 camp fee=
Time commitment 8 th grade : 1-2 practices per week and 1 performance 7 th grade : 1 practice per week and 1 performance Limit of one evening performance/week. This is a district rule. Location of evening performance varies weekly For performances not at Tidwell, a bus will transport to the game, and parents are required to pick up from performance location (BNHS or NHS). Participation in athletics and other sports is not an issue. We try to plan our calendar accordingly. *all times and days of practice and performance are subject to change at sponsors discretion.

FAQ About Cost Do I have to pay for anything throughout the year? No, we will not ask you for money throughout the year unless the decision is made by the squad and agreed on by you. Can I set up a payment plan? No, all payment should be ready to pay the day of the fitting. When is the uniform money due? The fitting is April 6th. You will be sent a link to pay the next day and will be expected to pay by the given deadline.
Tryout Information
Eligibility List FRIDAY 3/3 the eligibility list will be posted on the cheer website. Eligibility requirements: -Parent meeting attendance/notice -All forms submitted by March 11th All candidates posted are approved to tryout.
Tryout Video Video of dance and cheer posted to the website March 6 th following the first day of the workshop. Mondays workshop will be used in its entirety for learning tryout material.
Cheer WORKSHOP March 6-8th All cheer candidates must attend workshop from 4:15 6:15. This will provide girls an opportunity to go over the dance, cheer, jumps, and ask any last minute questions. Pick up at 6:15 is MANDATORY. Late pick up can result in forfeit of tryout.

Tryout FAQ Can I watch? No, tryouts are closed to the public. Parents will not be allowed in the building. Who will be judging? What does the score sheet look like? Please see handbook When will I know if my child made it? List will be posted on the cheer website the same day within 2 hours of completion. How are the girls chosen? Top 18 Scores from each grade level without a large break will determine the squad.
What happens if I make the squad?
Physical Please schedule a physical as soon as the Made It list is posted. Cheerleaders will not be allowed to participate in practice until your coach receives a completed physical! Practices will begin ~ early May.
Uniform Fitting April 6 th at 4:15 in the gym Varsity rep will be here to size the girls and custom fit their uniform A parent must be present (preferably female) All uniform money due, computers available for online payment if not already completed.

Captain Tryouts Captains will be selected at the end of camp. 7 th grade will have 1/2 captains 8 th grade will have 1/2 captains
Camp When : TBA (June 9-11) Where: TBA (Eaton) How Much: $135.00~ Camp is mandatory. This is where we learn all of our cheers, chants, stunts, dances ect. We use what we learn at camp all year long and it is a bonding experience for the squad. Please make vacation arrangements accordingly.
STUNTING All 7 th and 8 th Graders will be trained in basic stunting. The rigor of the stunting skills required will be based on the comfort level of the coaches and THEN the comfort level of the participants.

TUMBLING All 7 th and 8 th Graders will be allowed to perform learned stunting skills. No NEW tumbling skills will be taught through the Tidwell Cheer Program. Coaches will only be spotting tumbling skills of their combined comfort level.
