May 1, 2017 Camps Camp Clover Point-Applications are due today. Those attending will receive a packet in the mail by the end of the month with details and theme nights. Goats-There will be a goat camp offered in Bloomfield, Iowa on May 26 & 27. See flyer for details. Clinics/Sales/Shows Horses-There will be a local horsemanship and trail clinic offered by the Mid-MO Saddle Club and Big Spring Busy Beaver on May 6, 2017. See flyer in April 10 newsletter. Cass County will be hosting an open fun show on May 13th. See attached flyer for details. Cass County will be hosting a 4-H/FFA horse show on June 24th. See attached flyer for details. Marion County will be hosting a 4-H/FFA horse show on August 1st. See attached flyer for details. Schulyer County will be hosting a 4-H/FFA horse show on July 16th. See attached flyer for details. A trick riding clinic will be offered on May 6 in Centerville, IA. See flyer in April 18 newsletter. Swine-Callaway County Jackpot Show will be Saturday, May 27th at the CYE fairgrounds. Flyer with more information can be found in the April 18 newsletter. The Henry County Livestock Preview Show will be Saturday June, 10th in Clinton, MO. See attached flyer for details. Randolph County will be hosting a livestock judging clinic on June 16, 2017. Information is attached at the end of the newsletter. Franklin County will be hosting a livestock show on Saturday, May 13 at the Sullivan Fairgrounds. Contact the extension office for more details. Teen Leaders-The Teen Leaders will be holding a car wash on May 20 from 11-4 at the Magic Car wash in Kingdom City. Jackpot Swine Show-We will be hosting the jackpot swine show on May 27 at the CYE. If you can help, please let your club leader know. This is our last county wide fundraiser for the year. Page 2

Andrew County 4-H will be hosting at shooting sports event on June 3.See flyer in the April 18 newsletter for details. Grundy County will be hosting a shooting sports contest on Saturday, June 17 at 9:00am in Trenton, MO. See attached flyer for details. Lewis County will be hosting a 4-H invitational shoot on Sat. July 29. See attached flyer for details. Clover Classic Golf Tournament-A charity golf tournament will be held on Tuesday June 6, starting at 10:00am at A.L. Gustin Golf Course in Columbia. This is a four person scramble, 18 holes, shotgun start to benefit the Missouri 4-H Foundation. $90 per person fee. Contact Rachel at augustinere@missouri.edu or 573-882-2680 to register. CYE Youth Board Are you over 14 and would like to help make decisions for themes, shirts, plan events and work with the CYE expo board? If your answer is yes, yes, and yes. Then come join us. We meet at 6pm on the 4th Thursday of every month at the Extension Office. Our goal is to increase involvement at the CYE and have more fun for the kids. Report your minutes from May 1-15 in 4-H online. State Happenings Public Speaking-The 4-H Public Speaking Academy is preparing for its sixth year! The camp is open to all youth 11-13 years of age interested in learning more about public speaking. The Academy will be June 21-22, 2017 and registration is due May 16. Lodging will be provided on the campus of Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. The cost is $100.For more information, contact Patty Fisher at fisherp@missouri.edu or 573-324-5464 and be sure to download the brochure on the Missouri 4-H page at http://4h.missouri.edu/public-speaking-academy/main. Horse Public Speaking and Demo Contest-This event will be at the 4-H Center in Columbia on Sept. 9, 2017. Please register through 4-H online from July 15-Aug. 15. Sportfishing-Missouri 4-H State Sportfishing event will be Sat. June 3, 2017 in Mid Missouri. The event is open to all 4-H members enrolled in the sportfishing project. Enroll for the event through 4-H online from April 1-May15. Cost of the event is $20 per member. Additional information can be found at http://4h.missouri.edu/go/projects/sportfishing/ State Poultry Day-State Poultry Day will be held on June 17 at the Animal Science Building at MU campus. Shooting Sports-Attached are the state match rules for August and Sept. Please read, there are a few rules that have changed since last year. Move Across Missouri 4-H Film Fest-Registration is now open at http://filmfest4h.org for those interested in this national film camp located in Independence, MO on July 23-26. Meet and greet with actors, producers, make artists and more.

State Fair State Fair Registration-State Fair cards for barrows must be postmarked by May 15. (See flyer in March 20 newsletter.) Lamb and meat goat nose print cards must be postmarked by June 15. The livestock entry deadline is June 30, 2017. Robotics-The State 4-H Robotics Contest will be on Sun. Aug. 13 at the Show Me Robots exhibit in Lowell Mohler Hall. Games will be announced by April 15. This is an open competition for 4-H Robotics members. Callaway Youth Expo Buyers Contact Sheets These can be found on the extension website. The deadline to turn these to the extension office is Friday, June 9th. Swine Intent to Participate-These forms and the swine rules can be found on the extension website. These need to be turned in by Friday, May 12th to the extension office. Goat & Sheep-These forms and rules can be found on the extension site. These need to be turned in by Friday, May 12th to the extension office. Beef-Forms can be found on the extension web site. Home Arts-Entry forms and fair tags will be coming to your club leaders this month. Entry forms are due back to the extension office by June 23 so we can have the correct number of judges for conference judging. Food Booth-If you have fresh vegetables or meat that you would like to donate to the food booth please contact Soni Jones 573-353-5698. Opportunities Offered Outside of 4-H Missouri Agriculture Photo Contest Captures Best of Farm, Rural Life- The Missouri Department of Agriculture has announced it s 8th annual Focus on Missouri Agriculture contest, asking Missourians to share the unique stories and images of agriculture through photographs. Winners will be announced in mid July and winning images will be displayed during the Missouri State Fair in the Agriculture Building. To submit your photos, go to agriculture.mo.gov/focus and complete the online form by June 15. Build a Business Camp for Youth-Do you want to learn how to start a microbusiness, earn your own income and do something you love, or take a social cause that makes a difference then this camp is for you. Camp will be held July 16-20 on MU s campus for ages 12-18. Cost is $495. Flyer is attached at the end of the newsletter. 4-H Mall Check out this website: 4hsupply@fourhcouncil.edu They are offering a photography contest for those using 4-H mall products. (Sarah has many in her office.) Might be fun to enter for those taking the photography project. Also, this site offers 4-H signs and fair stuff including new 4-H jamberry nails.
