Girls Inc. of Meriden Spring Program Brochure All program participants are required to have a 2017/2018 Girls Incorporated membership. The membership fee is $30 (non-refundable) and is valid through May 2018. Class fees and membership fees are due at the time of registration. If there is an outstanding balance it must be paid in full before registering for a new class. After School Programs Monday Drama Mamas Time: 5:00-6:00pm Ages 6 & Up Fee: $50 If you like the stage and the spotlight, then this exciting class is for you! Girls will take this exciting class is for you! Girls will take command of the stage and be a true Broadway star! The girls will learn about all the aspects of a stage production through writing a short play, designing the costumes and a small set, and ending with a small performance for parents and friends! They will be learning a lot and having fun doing it! The class will be taught by a very experienced drama instructor, Miss Jean. Cooking Time: 6:00-7:00pm Ages 6 & Up Fee: $60 Are you a total foodie that loves to create and try all different kinds of things in the kitchen? Then this is the class for you! In this class girls will learn how to prepare ingredients, measure, clean-up, and other useful cooking tips. They will also create their own cookbook to take home at the end of the session with all of their recipes! Tuesday Memory Maker Ages 7 & Up Time: 5:00-6:00pm Fee: $50 Are you a girl who loves keepsakes and mementos of special times and occasions? Then this new class is for you! Girls will make memory boxes, mini scrapbooks, shadow boxes, and so much more, all of which they will keep and enjoy for a long time to come! Mother Daughter Fun Time: 5:00-6:00pm Ages 4-8 Fee: $25 per Mother/Daughter pair Calling all Mothers and Daughters this class is for you! In this fun class, Mothers and Daughters will come together for story time, crafts, no needle sewing, and so much more! In the end they will have some awesome craft projects and memories that they made together and can share forever! This class promotes Mother/Daughter bonding, reading, creativity, and a lot more. Super Sculpting Time: 5:00-6:00pm Ages 8 & Up Fee: $60 In this new art class, girls will sculpt with more than just clay! They will step out of the box and use mediums like cardboard, paper mache, foam, wire, plastic, things in nature, and so much more to create unique one of a kind art pieces they can cherish forever!

After School Programs continued..tuesday Animal Extravaganza Time: 6:00-7:00pm Ages 4-8 Fee: $50 Are you a girl that loves all things animal related? Then this art class is for you! Join us as we jump on a safari, go under the sea, or take a walk through the jungle and meet all kinds of cute animals along the way! Each week girls will learn some fun facts about the animal of the day and then make an awesome craft they can take home and play with! Bath and Body Ages 8 & Up Fee: $50 Time: 6:00-7:00pm There is nothing quite like the relaxed feeling you get after a day of pampering yourself. In this exciting class girls will learn ways to do just that! They will be creating soaps, facial scrubs, bath bombs, lip balms, and so much more! Wednesday Art for Beginners Time: 5:00-6:00pm Ages 6 & Up Fee: $50 In this art class, girls will learn some basic art techniques from a trained artist and someone our girls know and love- Miss Jean! They will work with water colors and learn basic brush strokes, how to mix different colors, and so much more! After they master all of the techniques they will create a masterpiece on canvas at the end of the session and possibly uncover the budding Picasso or Renoir inside of them! Girl Power Hour Time: 7:00-8:00pm Ages 8 & Up Fee: Free Now, more than ever, we need girls to feel empowered and confident. Here at Girls Inc., it is our mission to inspire all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold, and Girl Power this class will do just that! Girls will learn all about women empowerment, hear about positive role models, self-esteem, positive feelings towards themselves and others and so much more all while doing fun crafts and projects! There's No I In Team Ages 7 & Up Time: 6:30-7:30pm Fee: Free Often in sports, girls feel like they have to outshine everyone else to be noticed and appreciated for their talents. But in this super fun and free program, girls learn to work together and cheer each other on through a wide variety of team sports. They will make great friends, build confidence in themselves, and learn how to be an awesome teammate! This class is sure to put the team spirit spark in all of them! Tech Savvy Time: 7:00-8:00pm Ages 9 & Up Fee: $25 Calling all tech girls-this class is for you! In this new and exciting class, girls will work on ipads and chromebooks to create media, short movies, comic strips and more! This class will also focus on internet and social media safety to make sure the girls know how to use technology responsibly and safely.

After School Programs Thursday Green Thumb Gardening Club Time: 5:00-6:00pm Ages 8 & Up Fee: $50 Spring is finally here and it brings flowers, showers, and all things green! Join us for this new and fun class where girls will learn how to indoor garden! They will plant veggies, herbs and flowers all while learning the science behind plant life and doing some cool crafts along the way! Little Chef's Snacks Time: 6:00-6:45pm Ages 4-6 Fee: $50 In this exciting class the little chef s get their chance to shine! Girls will learn the basics of the kitchen such as measuring, stirring, cleaning up and much more! They will also be filling their cookbooks up with some delicious snack recipes they will make and eat in class but then can also try at home! Savvy Sewing Time: 6:00-7:00pm Ages 7 & Up Fee: $50 Whether you want to be a fashion designer or you just want to sew a rip in your clothes, sewing is such a wonderful skill to have! In this class girls will be learning how to sew from an experienced instructor- both by hand and by machine! They will be making beautiful and one of a kind pieces that are both decorative and functional! Sweet Treats Time: 6:45-8:00pm Ages 7 & Up Fee: $50 If you have a sweet tooth and love to bake, then this is the class for you! Girls will make delicious and unique desserts using new techniques in baking and decorating. They will work with chocolate, cakes, and so much more to learn how to make decadent desserts they will love. They will even create their own cookbook to take home at the end of the session with all their recipes! National Identity Programs Girls Inc. National Identity Programs are designed to enable young women to learn new information, acquire and develop new skills, build self-confidence, and most importantly have fun! These classes are offered FREE of charge to any member who signs up for any other After School Program Operation SMART Ages 6 & Up Mondays from 7:00-8:00pm Fee: Free Explore the world of science in a fun, all girl program that encourages girls to get messy and learn new things using hands-on activities. We will conduct experiments, play games, and discover cool careers for women with activities you won t see in the average classroom. 10 Week Program Mindy+Body 2.0 Ages 7 & Up Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00pm Fee: Free Here at Girls Inc., we believe that girls have the right to accept and appreciate their bodies and that they are entitled to thrive in communities that invest in their total physical, mental, and emotional wellness. Participating in this program will help ensure that girls have the support that they need to take charge of their own health and well-being. They will take a look at their self-esteem, body image, nutrition, physical well-being and much more through fun and interactive activities! This program is sure to help develop your loved one to be Strong, Smart and Bold both inside and out! Strong, Smart, and Bold Fun Ages 8 & Up Fee: Free Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00pm At a certain age, girls interest in STEM classes starts to fall. Here at Girls Inc., we believe in the importance of STEM learning for our girls and their futures. In this class, girls will have fun learning about science experiments, economic literacy, media literacy, games, and more! Each week will be hands on and different so that nothing gets too stale or boring for them. Forensic Science Ages 8 & Up Fee: Free Thursdays from 6:00-7:00pm Girls Inc. is all about making science and STEM programming fun and accessible for girls. In this exciting class, girls will learn all about the world of forensics- which is when you use science to collect information and to solve crimes. Girls will become mini forensic detectives as they learn how to collect fingerprints, decode secret messages, follow clues and so much more!

Strong, Smart, and Bold Girls Summer Camp 2018 Weekly Camp Themes Registration begins Sat.Feb.24th 9:00-11:00AM Week 1: Anything Goes Week June 11-June 15 **Please Note: This week may not run depending on the number of snow days the Meriden public school system has. If it does not run, we will start camp with Week 2. ** Welcome back to another year of camp! This year we are starting off camp a little different. Instead of having a set theme this week, anything goes! Everyday and every craft, project, and activity will be different. On Friday, we will have a camp-wide party for us to celebrate summer finally being here. So join us as we kick off summer 2018 Strong, Smart, and Bold style! Week 2: Outer Space Week June 18-June 22 A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, was a week all about space! Join us as we learn all about moons and stars, comets and planets, jedis and aliens. All this and more will be discovered this week as we take a trip in the Girls Inc. rocket ship around the galaxies! On Friday, we will have a camp-wide space party to celebrate all we discovered this week! *Week 3: Glamour Girls Week June 25-June 29 There is nothing quite like the relaxed feeling you get after a day of pampering yourself, so imagine how good you will feel after a whole week of it! This week girls will sit back, relax, and learn new and fun ways to pamper themselves through manicures, facials, and more! Then on Friday, we will have our first camp-wide show for families and friends to show them just how glamorous we all are! Week 4: Happenin Holiday Week July 2-July 6 **Please Note: We will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day.** Everyone loves to celebrate the holidays, throughout the year, and this week we will bring them all to you! Camp will be all about Holiday fun as we celebrate Halloween, Christmas and 4th of July. Then on Friday, we will a camp-wide birthday party celebrating all of us! *Week 5: Moving and Grooving Week July 9-July 13 This week is all about letting loose and getting active! Girls will learn traditional and non-traditional ways of getting up and getting moving from sports, yoga, silly games, dance and so much more. At the end of the week, we will have our second camp-wide show for families to come see the girls perform to some of their favorite dance inspired songs! Week 6: Winter Wonderland Week July 16-July 20 The weather outside may be delightful, but here at Girls Inc., it sure is frightful! Join us for a week of winter fun where there will be snowflakes, ice, and so much more! This week is sure to cool us down and forget how hot it is outside. We will end the week with a winter wonderland party for our campers that is sure to have us reaching for the mittens and hot cocoa..or cold cocoa! *Week 7: Girl Power Week July 23-July 27 Here at Girls Inc. we believe that every girl should feel empowered, confident, Strong, Smart and Bold. This week of camp will do just that for all of our campers! Girls will learn about female empowerment, hear about positive role models, self-esteem, and so much more all while doing fun crafts and projects. Then on Friday, we will have our third camp-wide show for families and friends to show them just how powerful we all are! Week 8: Mighty Jungle Week July 30-August 3 In the jungle, the mighty jungle, our campers play tonight. Join us for a week all about the animals of the jungle and rainforest! Each unit will be designated an animal and they will learn fun facts, play games, arts and crafts, and so much more! On Friday, we will have a camp-wide jungle party where we can really let our spots and stripes shine! Week 9: Fairest of them all Week August 6-August 10 Calling all princesses...this magical fairy tale fun filled week is for you! This week girls will learn all about their favorite fairy tales, princesses and maybe even some villains too! Then on Friday, you are all cordially invited to our annual princess ball where everyone will wear their prettiest dresses and dance the day away! *Week 10: Water, Water Everywhere Week August 13-August 17 **Please Note: Camp Hours for the last day of regular camp on August 17th are 1pm - 7pm. (with no AM or PM extended care that day).** It's all about water for the last week of camp! Campers will be getting wet and having lots of fun with many water games and activities. Campers will also be getting ready for our all-camp water show, a tradition here at Girls Inc. to wrap up the regular camp season. *Indicates that there is a camp show for families this week. Hours of Operation Camp: Monday-Friday 9:00AM - 3:00PM Morning Extended : Monday-Friday 7:30AM - 9:00AM Afternoon Extended: Monday-Friday 3:00PM - 5:30PM See which Unit your child will be in: Camp Fees Camp Weekly Fee: $130.00 Morning Extended Weekly Fee: $20.00 Afternoon Extended Weekly Fee: $35.00 *Please be advised that depending on the number of registrations received, it may be necessary to combine the Units of campers. This decision will be made at the Camp Director's discretion.

Gymnastics and Cheer Programs For the spring session, all gymnasts and cheerleaders must re-register for the same class that they were taking during the winter session. Our annual spring gymnastics and cheer show is just around the corner. This year our show is titled "Peace, Love and Motion". All of our gymnasts and cheerleaders have been working very hard in preparation for this special night and they're very excited to demonstrate all the skills they've learned. Please save the following dates: Dress Rehearsal: Wednesday, May 30th, 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Girls Inc. Gym Show: Thursday, May 31st, 6:00 p.m. at Girls Inc. Additional details about the gym show and ticket information will be distributed to all gymnast and cheerleaders in the near future during class. Dance Programs For the spring session, all dancers must re-register for the same class that they were taking during the winter session. "Strong, Smart, and Bold 2018"... Our annual dance recital is just around the corner. All of our dancers have been working very hard in preparation for this special night and they're very excited to demonstrate all that they've learned this past year. Please save the following dates: Dress Rehearsal: Thursday, May 24th, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Thomas Edison Middle School Dance Recital: Friday, May 25th, 6:00 p.m. at Thomas Edison Middle School Additional details about the performance and ticket information will be distributed to all dancers in the near future during class. 19th Annual Strong, Smart, and Bold Benefit Celebration 2018 Strong, Smart, and Bold Recipient In her spare time she is very involved with the Meriden Rotary Club, chairs the Nites in the City Brewfest, former Chairperson for the Midstate Chamber of Commerce, a member of the MEDCO board and was President of the Maloney Props and Paints Parent Organization to name a few of her accomplishments. It is the policy of Girls Incorporated of Meriden to follow the Meriden School Systems calendar for classes. If a class is canceled due to the school calendar the organization does not make the class up. As well, if a class is canceled due to weather related issues the policy of Girls Inc. is that we do not make up the class as it is considered an act of nature. However, if a class is canceled due to an instructor cancelation the class will be made up at the discretion of Girls Inc., the instructor, and available space in the building. At least one week's notice will be provided to announce the make up class.
