Lacey Lighted Vehicle Parade Entry Information WHAT: A lighted vehicle parade to celebrate the Holiday Season WHEN: Monday, December 4, 2017, 6:00pm WHERE: Through the streets of Lacey, starting on Lacey Blvd and Sleater-Kinney Rd. and ending at Huntamer Park for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. Help us LIGHT UP LACEY in the Lacey Lighted Vehicle Parade! Businesses, clubs, organizations, and individuals are all invited to light up their vehicle and drive in the parade, showing your support for Lacey. The Lacey Parade of Lights is a motorized vehicle parade only! No walking is allowed. Trailers and floats are encouraged but riders must be secured per rules. Vehicles should have a minimum of 1,000 lights. Businesses, clubs, and organizations can have signage on their vehicle, but lighting and decorations should reflect the holiday season. This parade will not be judged. Each entry is encouraged to go all out in lighting their vehicle and making it fun and exciting. To be considered for participation, your entry form must be received prior to Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 at 5:00 pm. Please read through the attached event rules which have been established for your benefit and the safety of the event. (Applications received after November 17, 2017 will be considered only if space is available.) We are excited and pleased to have your participation in our community's Parade of Lights. Lacey Parade of Lights Rules This is a Lacey community parade. Our goal is to provide a community parade that is safe and enjoyable for both participants and spectators, and we endeavor to maintain that tradition. To that end, we ask the following: All parade entries must be motorized vehicles or pulled by motorized vehicles, no walking entries will be allowed. Parade participants may NOT jump onto or off of any float or moving vehicle. NO STOPPING TO HAND OUT FOOD, CANDY, OR PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS. Also DO NOT throw food, candy, or any other items to the crowd. (This is an insurance requirement.) Riding on the top of or outside of vehicles without belts or harnesses to secure riders is prohibited. THE SANTA CLAUSE Only the official parade Santa is allowed, no other vehicles/floats can have a Santa The Parade goes rain or cold. All motorized vehicles must be operated by a licensed driver, regardless of the vehicle's size or use. All vehicle and float operators are required to include proof of current automobile liability insurance with the parade application. Fire extinguishers rated 2A-10BC are required on all motorized decorated vehicles. Fire or open flame on any entrant is prohibited; all decorative materials must be fire retardant - bales of hay are not fire retardant. Drivers shall have 180º forward vision. Exhaust system shall extend beyond any and all decorations so that drivers or riders are not exposed to carbon monoxide fumes. Compressed gases (such as helium) shall be properly secured and safeguarded. All parade entrants must remain in forward motion (no reverse motion) while on the parade route. Entries that stop along the parade route make the parade less enjoyable for the spectators and create problems for entries behind them. No excessive speeds, burn-outs, tricks, two-wheel driving, or dangerous maneuvers. Maintain an interval of 35 feet behind the preceding entry. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on any float or vehicle or on the person of any participant. All entrants must clean up after their entry (garbage in staging, decorations, etc.) All entrants must conform to the description stated in their application. Any changes must be submitted in writing with a copy of your Entry Application. No changes will be allowed after November 27, 2017. All Amplification systems must be noted on application and approved by the Parade Committee. Entries depicting violence, drugs, and illegal activities or otherwise deemed inappropriate by the Parade Committee, will not be allowed for this family friendly parade. The City of Lacey reserves the right to bar from the parade at any time any entrant not conforming to the rules or refusing to follow the instructions of the police or parade officials. Your signature on the parade entry form is evidence that you agree to all rules and will abide by those rules and the decisions of the Parade Committee. Furthermore, your signature on the entry form indicates that you agree that the Lacey Lighted Vehicle Parade committee, its sponsors, the City of Lacey, and their associates, employees, volunteers, and agents are released from any and all responsibility for loss, damage, or injury to any person or property relating in any way to participation in the parade.
Lacey Lighted Vehicle Parade Day of Parade Instruction Sheet PARADE DATE: Monday, December 4, 2017 PARADE BEGINS: 6:00 pm CHECK-IN/ASSEMBLY: 4:00 5:45 pm DIRECTIONS: From the South (Portland): On I-5 exit 108 to College St SE, right on College St, Right on Pacific Ave. SE, take 3 rd exit on roundabout onto Lacey Blvd. SE. (this is where Lacey Blvd is a 2 way street.) From the North (Seattle): On I-5 exit 109 to Martin Way E. right onto Martin Way E. Left on College St. SE (first left). Right on Pacific Ave SE, take 3 rd exit on roundabout onto Lacey Blvd. SE. (this is where Lacey Blvd is a 2 way street.) CHECK-IN STATION: All entries must stop at the check-in station located at the entry of the staging area. (See Map) There you will receive your Participation Award, your parade entry number, and any other instructions. Important: To reduce congestion, please appoint one member of your group to check in your entire group. PARTICIPATION AWARDS The first 50 entries to register will receive a commemorative participation award. This parade will not be judged. Each entry is encouraged to go all out in lighting their vehicle and making it fun and exciting. STAGING AREA: The main staging area will be on Lacey Blvd. between the roundabout on Golf Club Rd SE & Sleater-Kinney Rd SE. All entries must check in with parade staff at the staging area. PLEASE KEEP THE CENTER OF THE STAGING AREA CLEAR AT ALL TIMES TO ALLOW FOR PASSAGE OF OTHER ENTRANTS. Entries will be lined up in order of arrival. (with possible adjustments due to music, etc. as determined by Parade Staff. Because of limited access to the parade staging area, and for safety reasons, if you wish to drop off participants or equipment needed for your entry, you must do so prior to 5:00 pm. ACCESS TO THE STAGING AREA WILL BE CLOSED FOR SUPPORT VEHICLES AT 5:15 PM. No reverse movement will be allowed within the staging area. All entrants must clean up after their entry (garbage in staging, decorations, etc.) Exit staging at Sleater-Kinney and head North. PARADE ROUTE: Public viewing begins at the intersection of 7 th Ave. SE & Sleater-Kinney Rd SE and will proceed down 7 th Ave SE to Woodland Sq Lp SE, turn right on Woodland Sq Lp SE (at Huntamer Park) and proceed around the loop, left onto 7 th Ave SE back past the park. Vehicles can then park around Huntamer Park for the tree lighting, or exit the viewing area to the right onto Woodland Sq Lp SE.
PARADE REMINDERS: All parade entries must be motorized vehicles or pulled by motorized vehicles, no walking entries will be allowed. All parade entrants must remain in forward motion (no reverse motion) while on the parade route.
