Friend SUPPLEMENTARY STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORT Coffs Harbour Racing Cub, COFFS HARBOUR RACECOURSE, Tuesday 13 March 2018 RACE 7: Class 2 Handicap 800m: Go Joyce Go Trainer Mr G. McFarlane was advised that the gelding is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards after its poor performance in the event. RACE 1: Maiden Plate 1006m: Acclaimed First (GB) Bumped on jumping. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Belmond Express Bumped on jumping. Inclined to lay in down the straight. Dashaspring Bumped on jumping. Find the Treasure - Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages. Flim Flan Man Passing the 100m was obliged to ease out around heels to continue to improve. Bumped another runner approaching the 50m. Protested against dismissed. Hashtag Hero Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards considered an objection by C. Franklin, rider of second placegetter Hashtag Hero, against Flim Flan Man being declared the winner of the event alleging interference approaching the 50m. After taking evidence from all relevant parties and viewing official video footage stewards established that approaching the 50m Flim Flan Man improved to the inside of Hastag Hero, made contact with the hindquarter of that runner resulting in its becoming momentarily unbalanced before continuing past it. Appreciating the margin of a head the stewards were not comfortably satisfied that had the incident not occurred Hashtag
2 Hero would have beaten Flim Flan Man to the finish line, the objection was dismissed and correct weight declared. Rock the House Bumped on jumping. Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages. Quisical Times Buffeted shortly after the start. Eased from heels near the 800m. RACE 2: Benchmark 64 Handicap 2360m: Dominant Storm Began awkwardly and bumped another runner. Polemic Slow to begin. Skytastic Slow to begin. Hampered passing the 200m. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding jockey B. Looker stated that his mount settled at the rear of the field and he was required continually encourage it along to maintain its position. B. Looker stated his mount did not respond strongly to pressure passing the 600m and felt reluctant to stretch out down the straight. When questioned, trainer Ms D. Murphy stated she does not believe the gelding appreciated the dry track conditions as its form suggests it appreciates give in the ground. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have an injury to its off fore tendon. Ms Murphy was advised that the gelding is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start and before such trial requires a veterinary clearance including the results of a ultrasound on the tendon. Stella s Chance Inclined to pull in the early stages. Laid out under pressure approaching the 100m. Towkash A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr J. Shelton advised the gelding would be retired. On this assurance no further action was taken. Winkler (NZ) Bumped on jumping. Overraced approaching and rounding the first turn. Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. RACE 3: Maiden Handicap 1206m: Aimalac Bulsa Blundered on jumping and bumped another runner. Laid out under pressure down the straight. Deubank Ran out abruptly at the entrance to the straight. Shifted out under pressure to the 200m. Apprentice Ms L. Kilner was advised that she must make greater effort to straighten her mounts in similar circumstances.
3 Moshe Lass Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Overraced in the middle stages. Shifted out abruptly under pressure passing the 250m. Mr Shultz Eased when awkwardly placed on heels passing the 600m. Hampered approaching the 200m. My Cousin Steve Eased from heels near the 800m. Overraced in the middle stages. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the straight. Our Red Jet Overraced rounding the first turn and shifted out when awkwardly placed on heels. Raced wide in the middle stages. Rocks On Ice Raced greenly down the straight. Vertex Began awkwardly. Passing the 600m was eased when racing in restricted room. Wasm Bumped on jumping. Overraced in the early stages. Hampered at the entrance to the straight. RACE 4: Maiden Plate 1710m Bravo Uncle Billy Became unbalanced approaching the 200m. Approaching the 100m was checked severely to avoid heels and again shortly after in an effort to avoid a fallen horse and rider. Ferrara Blundered shortly after the start. Eased from heels shorty after. Grande Casadora Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Legal Loophole An inquiry into the reason the gelding fell and dislodged its rider K. Matheson approaching the 100m was opened and adjourned to a date to be fixed. K. Matheson was transported to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital where he was found to have injured his liver and ribs. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have sustained a number of superficial skin lacerations. Lord Morpheus Laid in away from another runner shortly after the start. Overraced approaching and passing the 1400m. Lunar Lustre Unable to be fully tested rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Military Express Near the 150m was steadied for a number of strides when racing in restricted room.
4 Mystic Skies Slow to begin and hampered shortly after. Approaching the 200m was eased after improving onto heels. Primal Touch Steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start. Terrorfilo Checked from heels shortly after the start. Passing the 1000m was checked and shifted out abruptly after improving onto heels. Overraced from this point to the 700m. RACE 5: Class 1 Handicap 1006m Bearly Thinking Eased when buffeted between runners approaching the 900m. Dubawi Sniper Laid in under pressure down the straight. Hollydeen Inclined to lay out between the 600m and 400m. Jameslea World As Ms C. Dougherty was injured stewards permitted Ms O. Pickering to replace her as the rider of the gelding. Blundered near the 800m. Myambla Approaching the 200m was eased and shifted in when awkwardly placed on heels. P artie Town Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. Passing the 200m was obliged to ease out around heels to continue to improve. Near the 150m was obliged to ease in around heels to continue to improve. Sergeant Sam Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Carried wider passing the 600m. Vivid Image Eased when buffeted between runners approaching the 900m. Yankee Express Bumped and unbalanced shortly after the start. Eased when awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 900m. RACE 6: Class 3 Handicap 1206m: Call Me Brad Eased after improving onto heels near the 700m. Rounding the home turn became held up on heels and was unable to be fully tested until near the 250m. Not tested over the final 100m when awkwardly placed inside heels. Devil s Fire Slow to begin. More Patasi Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. Rounding the home turn became held up on heels and was unable to be fully tested until shifting out into clear running approaching the 200m.
5 Soft Top Not tested over the final 100m when held up for clear running. Spinning Quarters Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground (~10L). Trainer Mr J. Shelton was advised that the mare is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. RACE 7: Benchmark 56 Handicap 1410m: Kijito Shortly after straightening eased out across heels to continue to improve. Lakshme Began awkwardly. Lauderdale Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 200m was eased after laying out onto heels. Shortly after was obliged to shift out around heels to continue to improve. Laid out for the remainder of the event. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have mild heat stress. My Cousin Rhett Raced wide in the early stages. Myboycellito Trainer Mr S. Hendry reported the following day that the gelding had an elevated temperature and was showing symptoms of a respiratory infection and it would be treated accordingly. Onslow Steadied when buffeted between runners shortly after the start. Ramatuelle Bumped and unbalanced shortly after the start. Near the 1300m was steadied from the heels of Kijito which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey M. McGuren (Kijito) was reprimanded (AR137(a)). Overraced approaching and rounding the first turn. Solar Lady A post race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. Yeppoon Slow to begin. Summary of whip use: Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii).
