HOCKEY CANADA NATIONAL COACH CERTIFICATION PROGRAM HIGH PERFORMANCE 2 SEMINAR Calgary, AB July 10 - July 15 2016 EVENT: High Performance 2 Seminar Calgary, AB Hockey Canada will be offering a NCCP HP 2 Seminar in Calgary, AB. Capacity for the seminar is a 24 delegates. DELEGATES: Up to 24 High Performance 2 delegates will be accepted for this seminar. High Performance 2 delegates will be selected by Hockey Canada s Athlete Development Committee based on a prioritized listing submitted by each Member (see application procedures and timelines for more information) and by applications submitted directly to the Manager of Coaching Development. SELECTION CRITERIA: NCCP High Performance 2 delegates: Applicants to the HP Seminar must meet the following requirements: Presently fully certified at NCCP High Performance 1 () Currently coaching at the high performance level (Male - AAA Midget or above, Female - University or above). A member in good standing with the Member (Branch), Canadian Hockey League, Canadian Interuniversity Sport or the Canadian College Athletic Association. 2016 NCCP HP 2 Application Guidelines page... 1
SELECTION GUIDELINES: The Member should consider the following guidelines when finalizing the Member delegate list: 1. The quality of the applicant s coaching experiences, 2. The applicant s reasons for applying to attend the seminar, 3. The potential and ability of the applicant to complete each evaluation component necessary for certification within a 2 year timeframe, 4. The applicant must be coaching a team that meets the criteria 5. The potential of the applicant for future involvement as a coach in high performance programs at the Member and National levels. The time commitment for Hockey Canada s High Performance 2 program is substantial. Successful candidates will require two to three years to complete all of the course components. We encourage you to stress this to potential candidates when going through the application procedure. Member Expectation The Branch should expect to perform the following tasks to ensure the success of the program. 1. Ensure the applicant is aware of the High Performance 2 seminar costs, selection criteria and process, and evaluation requirements. 2. Ensure the applicant is screened and evaluated prior to submission of the prioritized list to Hockey Canada. 3. When requested, assist with post-seminar evaluations (logistics). 4. DELEGATE EVALUATION PROCEDURE: All High Performance 2 delegates will be evaluated in the following areas: Group Leader Evaluation: During the course of the seminar all delegates will participate in a series of group tasks, develop and conduct on-ice practices and participate in other group and individual tasks. Completion of these tasks in accordance with the expectations clearly outlined at the seminar will permit the delegate to move to the second stage of the evaluation - the written take home examination. Written Evaluation: Each delegate who successfully completes the group leader evaluation will be given the opportunity to write a take-home assignment. Successful completion of the assignment in accordance with the expectations outlined at the seminar will permit the delegate to move to the third stage of the evaluation the field assessment. Field Evaluation: Each delegate will be evaluated in the field by a qualified evaluator appointed by Hockey Canada. The field evaluation includes three components: 1. The evaluation of a practice 2. The evaluation of a game 3. An oral examination (Review of yearly plan, objective demonstration of coaching) These three field evaluation components will take place within a relatively short period of time. The game to be supervised will follow a practice and the oral examination will conclude the field evaluation. Other requirements: Each participating delegate must also satisfy the following requirements: 1. Attendance at all sessions of the seminar, 2. REGISTRATION DETAILS High Performance 2 delegates The registration fee of $1500.00 (payable to Hockey Canada) covers all costs associated with the High Performance 2 seminar including meals, accommodation, on-site ground transportation, program materials and post seminar field evaluations. The following travel subsidies are in effect for all delegates. Hockey Canada recommends that all travel arrangements be made as soon as the delegates receive confirmation. This will ensure delegates are able to secure the most economical airfares (where applicable).
