McDowell made a good plan, but things did not go well. panic, & ran Realized that the war would be long. Beauregard South defended Bull Run Creek near the & J.E. Manassas rail junction. Out planned, the Johnston Southern army fought well and was Almost as exhausted as North, they failed to move against Wash. reinforced at the last minute by rail (Stonewall Jackson). 7
