THE CURIOUS SAVAGE Written by John Patrick Directed by Mark Torreso This warm-hearted comedy revolves around Mrs. Ethel Savage, a slightly eccentric window who has been left ten million dollars by her late husband. She wants to use the money to establish a fund which would help others realize their hopes and dreams, in spite of the efforts of her grown-up stepchildren to get their hands on it. Fearful that she will squander the money before they can get hold of it, the greedy siblings have the widow committed to a sanatorium where she meets a most interesting group of social outcasts. With the help of her new-found friends, Mrs. Savage leads her stepchildren on a merry chase and along the way learns the true meaning of family. This is the first of collaborative art efforts between Mira Costa High School Art Department and the Manhattan Beach Older Adults Program, under the leadership of the Senior Advisory Committee. *Eligibility: Open to artist ages 55+ who are residents of Manhattan beach or enrolled in Manhattan Beach parks and Recreation art classes. *Entry Requirements: Participants will submit original self-portraits. Two dimensional (painting or drawing) or three dimensional (sculpture) accepted. *Exhibition Dates: May 19th 28th *Location: Mira Costa Gallery, Mira Costa High School (Room 60) 1401 Artesia Boulevard, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 *Delivery and Collection: Artwork may be delivered to the Joslyn Community Center on Thursday, May 14th and Friday, May 15th. After the exhibition ends, artwork may be picked up from the on Saturday, May 29th or Sunday, May 30th. *Note: This not a juried show. We will display art work as the space allows. MONDAY ACTING OUT AGAIN Acting Out Again begins with a half hour of acting instruction followed by 90 minutes of reading 10-minute plays aloud. Time permitting, all get an opportunity to read.
