Information & Communications Technologies One of the strategic directions for Middle School for 2018-2022 is the concept that we need to Actively integrate ICT that builds innovative creators and discerning consumers of content This is because we understand the need to use technology in school and work in this modern age. We also know that there are pitfalls in technology. This is the reason that we want to proceed carefully, thoughtfully and prayerfully in this area. Last week we held a helpful information night and WAVES Camp volunteers meeting. There was some useful discussion about how to manage the access of students to technology both at school and at home. The School has made a significant investment in technology in Middle School. This involves three significant developments; allowing students much greater access to technology through a set of ipads in a trolley that lives in H-Block permanently refurbishment of G1 as the G1 STEAM lab featuring 3-D printers, Sphero programmable robots and much more. Extension of the availability of school email to year 5 and up. School Managed Apple ID with cloud storage. Addition of Apple TV devices an all classrooms in the middle school building. This is an extract from the document sent home detailing Managed Apple.Id Managed Apple.Id Each student will have a Managed Apple ID to access their ipad, email and cloud storage. These are different to the retail Apple ID for ipad or iphone. They are controlled and administered by the school. Students cannot purchase / download apps, songs, movies etc. the following links contains more detailed information about Managed Apple.Id https://support.apple.com/en-au/ HT205918 Managed Apple IDs have a slightly different account name to the student email address. Using the above example again, a student named Joe Bloggs in Year 5 who will graduate in 2025 will have the Apple ID s25bloggsjo@appleid.ocs.nsw.edu.au
