Welcome Welcome to the Outdoor Learning and Adventure Programme for 2018 from South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture (SLLC). This booklet is packed with outdoor activities from kayaking at the James Hamilton Heritage Park, mountain biking at Glentress to family activity and adventure days. If you are looking for a more fun filled day we can deliver activities at chosen venues throughout central Scotland; there is something to suit everyone throughout the year. Outdoor Learning and Adventure would like to invite you to come and try our activities and see for yourself how much fun you can pack in. 3

Our facilities James Hamilton Heritage Park (JHHP) 01355 276611 email: outdoor_recreation@southlanarkshireleisure.co.uk Our dedicated water sports centre, based in East Kilbride, provides an exciting opportunity to experience sailing, windsurfing, paddle sports, power boating and outdoor fitness classes within the safe surrounds of the purpose built loch. The centre has shower and changing facilities along with an on-site café situated upstairs in the main building. Online booking Courses and classes which are available to be booked online are identified by the activity programme. icon within the Prior to booking online you will need to provide us with a valid email address which will be used to confirm your booking and payment. To book online please follow the steps below: 1. Please phone Hamilton Palace Sports Ground reception (01698 424101) to receive the participants booking I.D. number or to have an I.D created. You will be asked to provide a current email address which will be recorded against the member I.D. 2. Log on to www.slleisureandculture.co.uk 3. Click Do it online from the quick link menu 4. Click the JHHP course bookings icon 5. Enter member ID and click Forgotten your PIN? 6. Enter ID number again and click Request PIN 7. Follow instructions which will allow you to create your own 4 digit PIN. (Your PIN cannot start with a zero) 8. Input start date of desired activity in 'Advanced search' menu 9. Select the course or session required using the course reference from within the activity programme (e.g. DJ1) 10. Click book to confirm correct course or class. (All courses which have multiply dates only require first session to be booked) 11. Click pay to make payment for the selected course or class. 12. You will receive acknowledgment of your completed transaction by email. You will also need to follow the instruction within the email to print the activity booking form which will contain the terms and conditions of your booking. Refunds can only be made by telephone or in person at Hamilton Palace Sports Ground or James Hamilton Heritage Park. 5

Group sessions and corporate events Outdoor Learning and Adventure can provide corporate and group events right on your door step or at a venue handpicked to cater for your needs. Corporate events We can design a full or half day corporate event tailored to suit your particular requirements. The programme of activities would challenge and encourage individual and team participation, regardless of experience or aspiration. Our corporate outdoor activities will inspire delegates of all abilities and ages. A bundle of events can be organised to accommodate groups of all sizes and at a price that will surprise you. Activities on offer: Duckie days Multi activity programmes Sailing Raft building Paddlesports Archery Orienteering Survival skills day bushcraft/campcraft It s a Knock Out teams compete against each other in a day filled with challenges and puzzles. Challenges will be based around the loch to create the perfect corporate event for any group big or small. These challenges will allow work colleagues to see each other in a different way. It will give them an understanding of individual strengths which will ultimately improve their performance and motivation. Organised and uniformed groups such as Scouts, Guides and football clubs, or groups of friends. Our two hour group activity sessions based at the JHHP are an excellent opportunity to bond with your group members. Based on groups of six or eight, participants can have a session on one of the following activities. Big splash birthday parties For costs please call: 01355 276611 James Hamilton Heritage Park offers the ultimate fun packed two hour, water sport themed birthday party for children of 8 years or older. Choose from one of the following action packed fun activities as your theme: Dingy sailing Stand up paddling Kayaking Raft building Windsurfing (6 participants per group) New - Power boating (3 participants per group) As well as having your own qualified instructor who will ensure your party is full of the fun factor, your party package also includes the following: Party invitations Power boat ride Bumper boats Wet suits All safety equipment Use of our tented area Bring along your party food and beverages or if you would prefer, catering can be provided at additional cost from our on-site café. Family activity and adventure days Outdoor Learning and Adventure are delighted to offer our new range of family activities. Our activities can include all the family from ages 8 upwards and have been designed to be fun and exciting, full of activities and exercise. The activities will put a new slant on enjoying the outdoors and also give families quality time to spend together. It also allows families to see that going out for the day and having a great time doesn t have to cost a lot of money. Here is just a sample of some of the activities we can provide for a family day out: Gorge walking at Alva Let our qualifi ed instructors take you on a day trip for all the family to enjoy. You can walk, jump, swim and plunge your way through the gorge. This is a fantastic day for all the family to enjoy! Family sailing course Why not learn to sail with your family or friends; we can tailor RYA certifi ed sailing courses to suit your availability. This is a great opportunity to learn a sport with your family which you can then continue to enjoy as a family after the course. Or why not try a Ducky Day at the River Tay, Going for Gold archery sessions or mountain biking at various locations throughout Central Scotland. Active after schools clubs Outdoor Learning and Adventure offer our Active After School Club for young people to enjoy. The water based club launches at the James Hamilton Heritage Park from April to September. Our Active After School Club is the perfect activity for Primary 6 and 7 pupils which will not break the bank. Saturday clubs Rainbow Club is aimed at young people who wish to have the opportunity to try kayaking and canoeing in a fun environment with loads of games. Multi activity sessions Wet n Wild The Wet n Wild sessions run during the school summer holidays and are targeted at our young customers. Each session is full of thrills, skills and spills with participants taking part in windsurfing, canoeing, dinghy sailing and other adventure activities, depending on weather conditions. Adult dinghy sailing All dinghy sailing courses follow a fun, safe syllabus set out by the Royal Yachting Association. Level 1 courses will teach beginners how to rig a sailing dinghy and learn all the basics on the water. The Level 2 course allows you to master the skills required to go on to become an experienced sailor in double handed boats. Level 3 gives the participants the opportunity to develop their skills in large double handed dinghies. Junior dinghy sailing (teaching ratio 1 instructor to 6 craft / 8 pupils) All dinghy sailing courses follow a fun and safe syllabus set out by the Royal Yachting Association. Stage 1/2 course will teach beginners how to rig our sailing dinghies and learn all the basics on the water. The Stage 3 course will arm the participants with the skills required to become experienced sailors in double handed boats. Stage 4 gives sailors the opportunity to develop their skill in large double handed dinghies. Outdoor fitness classes Open water swimming Open water swimming sessions give participants the opportunity to receive swimming coaching at the loch. These sessions are ideal for both junior and adult competitors of triathlon events looking for a safe environment to train or for keen swimmers who are looking for a challenge in a new environment. All participants receive a free tea or coffee after the session and a chance to chat about their session with other swimmers and coaches. All participants must be able to swim 400m without rest. Frequently asked questions How do I book and pay? Bookings for all our programmes can be made in person at both facilities or by calling James Hamilton Heritage Park on: 01355 276611 or Outdoor Resource Base on: 01698 307095. Full payment is required at the time of booking for all activities. Organised group bookings can be invoiced on receipt of company/organisation details. Can I cancel my course or session? Yes a minimum of 7 days prior to the course start date. What happens if the weather is poor? Bookings may be cancelled at short notice due to severe weather, alternative activities / venues may be offered or bookings can be rescheduled. Customers will be entitled to a full refund if rescheduling does not suit. Do sessions and courses require a minimum number of participants? Yes, all sessions and courses must have a minimum number of participants before the start date to run. Minimum participant numbers are as follows: Junior courses/sessions 4 participants Adult courses/sessions 2 participants Participants booked onto courses / sessions which do not have the minimum number of participants required will be cancelled. Participants can be transferred on to the next available course/session or be given a full refund.
