NVTBL General Season Information 2018 The Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League (NVTBL) is a Washington, D.C. metropolitan area youth baseball league for players age 8U thru 19U. NVTBL offers an improved level of competition for teams and a positive baseball experience for players and their parents. We provide game schedules, umpires, fields, and insurance, as well as administrative support so that registered teams can concentrate on the development of their players. Teams have flexibility to determine their availability, number of games, competitive level, tournament participation, roster selection & team philosophy. NEW WEBSITE Sports Engine (SE) Game information and parent/player logins will all be located on our new site www.nvtblbaseball.org. We will continue to operate our old website for team registration and all scheduling information. All Head Coaches need to register in SE in order to get access to all of the information that they will need. Here is a link that Head Coaches can use to register for SE if they are a new coach or having issues with the e mail link. https://nvtbl.sportngin.com/register/form/390384202 Background Checks Fairfax County requires all coaches or anyone who has contact with the players to get an independent background check. All coaches who have any Fairfax County players on their roster must get and be able to produce an independent background check anytime after 1/1/16. Division Designations: Youth League (Youth): Teams from 8U thru 12U Middle School (Mid): Teams from 13U thru 14U Junior Varsity (JV): Teams from 14U thru 16U Varsity (VAR): Teams from 16U to 19U Premier Showcase League Futures (PSLF) Teams from 15U to 16U Premier Showcase League (PSL): Teams from 16U to 19U, Pre College & Showcase Teams Conference Designations: NVTBL will divide teams within each Division into conferences such as American, National, East, West, Central, Red, White, or Blue. The conferences will be organized around Level of Play Designation made by your team during registration. NVTBL reserves the right to move any team to a lower/higher Level of play if it determines the teams within the conference are better served. Any team wishing to register for the Metro/Elite Conference must qualify for that level. NVTBL will create the conference designations once we begin the scheduling process.

Level of Play Elite/Metro AAA AA 8U thru 14U Level of Play Designation Explanation Highest level of competitive play. Top competitive teams in the region, state & country. Requires league approval. Competitive teams organized around an existing league or school geography with traditional strong talent pool. Teams should feel they can be competitive with Metro teams but lack pitching depth or based upon affiliated league rules will have limited pitching available for a Sunday double header format. Competitive/developmental teams that have restricted rosters, drafted players, or play with limited pitching depth. In some case affiliated leagues will have two teams where the talent pool is spread evenly. Level of Play PSL PSLF Metro AAA AA Registration Dates & Seasons: JV, Varsity, PSLF & PSL Level of Play Designations Explanation The PSL Division is reserved for our Premier Showcase Teams that are dedicated to showcasing the area s best baseball talent and creating opportunities for College bound players to be seen by Colligate recruiters. This division is week day only games. If you are interested in registering for this division, you MUST contact NVTBL. The PSLF Division is reserved for our Premier Showcase Teams that are dedicated to showcasing the area s best baseball. If you are interested in registering for this division, you MUST contact NVTBL. Highest level of competitive play for Large High School Teams. Teams should be comprised of the area's best High School Players and those schools that have perennial strong programs and finish at the top of their respective conferences in most seasons. Further, Metro teams can be a regionally based team comprised of players from more than one High School and feel they can compete at the highest level, but may have limited pitching depth required for Tournament play. Highly Competitive Small High School Teams organized around an existing leagues or school geography with traditional strong talent pool. Teams should feel they can be competitive with Elite/Metro/Majors but lack pitching depth or based upon affiliated league rules will have limited pitching available for a Sunday double header format. Competitive teams that have restricted rosters, drafted players, or play with limited pitching depth. In some case affiliated leagues will have two teams where the talent pool is spread evenly. Spring:(8U thru 12U) o January 14th and ends Feb. 20th o Feb. 1 st Late Fees of an additional $125 o Feb. 15 th Late Fees of an additional $225 o Games will run from April 8 (depending on field allocations) June 10 Spring:(13U thru 14U) o January 14th and ends Feb. 20th o Feb. 1 st Late Fees of an additional $125 o Feb. 15 th Late Fees of an additional $225 o Games will run from April 2 May 31 Summer:(13U, 14U, JV, Varsity, PSLF & PSL) Note: Spring Teams do not need to register for Summer

o Opens in late March/early April o Games will run from June 1 July 31 st. o Note 13U 14U that play in the Spring season DO NOT have to register to continue playing in June & July. Fall (8U thru Varsity) o Registration will open around August 3 rd August 10 th ; o 8u 12u Cost will be $415. 2 dozen FREE NVTBL balls for individual coaches who attend meeting. o 13U PSL Cost will be $805. 3 dozen FREE NVTBL balls for individual coaches who attend meeting. o Games will run from Sept. 9 th November 4 th. Payments: Teams are required to be registered by a single individual that is personally liable for all charges and fees incurred. Payment can be made by Credit Card or an Online Bank Check using EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer directly from your Team s checking Account). NEW Teams & Coaches Training: Registration will take place over the Internet via GoToMeeting and several dates will be available, as well as time options. Spring & Fall Coaches Meetings: Spring Coaches Meeting & Clinic: TBD at Westfield High School 4700 Stonecroft Blvd, Chantilly, VA 20151). 30 45 minute training sessions will be throughout the clinic timeframe. Spring NEW Coaches Training will be during the first two weeks of February over the internet. Watch for emails with specific dates and times. Summer Coaches Meeting: TBD at Location TBD FOR FALL: NEW Coaches training will be in early August at 7 pm or 8:30 pm over the Internet. A coaches meeting for ALL Fall coaches 8U 12U will be held on TBD. A coaches meeting for ALL Fall coaches 13U 18U will be held on TBD. New coaches are required to be at BOTH meetings. Rosters: There is no restriction as to the number of players on a roster. Players can be added/deleted at any time during the season just remember that players are not covered by NVTBL insurance if their complete information is not entered into your team roster on the website. For 8u 12u, rosters must be capped at 16 players and each player must register via the NVTBLBaseball.org web site. Rosters can be amended; however, no changes may take place after October 10th (fall season) and May 10th (spring season) unless approved by NVTBL Board. Age(s), Grade Levels & Teams Playing Up/Down: In short, we believe in doing what is best for the competitive development of players and to this extent we provide waivers for teams that would like to play up in age divisions or even individual players who may need to play DOWN in age division. You must discuss your specific circumstances with a league administrator for more information. NOTE: For 8U 14U, players need to be their age level in order to participate in any tournament games.

YOUTH 8U thru 12U Leagues Registration Fees: The registration fee is $415. Teams that attend the summer coaches meeting will receive 2 dozen NVTBL baseballs FREE. There must be an individual coach for each team to receive the FREE baseballs. You are NOT required to register with other organizations such as ECTB, USSSA, etc. This does NOT include: Team Insurance Your registration must purchase insurance separately and is available thru NVTBL during the registration process. Insurance is billed by the season Spring/Summer and/or Fall. County player participation fees for Fairfax residents. Umpire Fees: See web document for additional Fees & Charges Umpire Game fees are $65.00 per game for 1 Umpire, paid cash at the game site for Double Header games. For single games, the Umpire Game fees are $75 per game for 1 Umpire, paid cash at the game site. Rain Out, game change/cancellation fees and other applicable game related charges will be charged to your team. Fields: FAIRFAX COUNTY NVTBL currently obtains field permits from Fairfax County for the benefit of all Fairfax based teams that are not affiliated with another league. For any non Fairfax residents, your team will be charged $35.50 per player. LOUDOUN COUNTY Your rosters need to be 95% Loudoun residents (league total) to avoid additional charges such as rental fees or supervision fees. Teams will pay athlete participation fees ($12.50 per rostered player) to Loudoun County. Loudoun County will assign practice fields, as well as game fields which can be used for NVTBL home games. OTHER JURISDICTIONS Teams located in DC, MD, Loudoun & Prince William must obtain Field permits from your applicable Parks & Recreation Departments and remit appropriate fees directly. Teams must provide adequate field space to support game schedules when located outside of Fairfax County. Teams affiliated with an existing league can register field slots via the NVTBL website and designate them for use by their team as well as other teams they may be directly affiliated with. Team Availability: 8U 12U is a Sunday Only league. Most teams play Double Header games on Sundays. We will offer an option to play SINGLE games on Sundays. Teams can block off any Sundays you do not want games. Most teams can expect to play at least one 3 way game (with one team sitting out the middle game). Each team completes an availability calendar, indicating the start and end dates of their season, plus blackout dates (days on which they cannot play). Each team can blackout about 25% of the days in their season. Teams are asked (during the registration process) to provide the league schedulers with "SCHEDULING PREFERENCES" such as: o Prefer Listing of 5 Fields Located in Proximity to your Team. o Listing of up to 5 teams you would like to play. o Any additional info to help us with scheduling your season such as preferred travel proximity for games, preference for game times, etc. Tournaments: NVTBL will provide a playoff tournament for each Youth age division. Mid, JV, Varsity, PSLF & PSL 13U thru 19U Leagues Registration Fees: The registration fee is $805. Teams that attend the spring/summer coaches meeting will receive 3 dozen NVTBL baseballs FREE. There must be an individual coach for each team to receive the FREE baseballs. This fee includes the following:

Team Insurance Your registration fee covers coaches & players during practices, games, clinics, tournaments, and team activities. The coverage is supplemental to a family s primary insurance and is billed by the season Spring/Summer and/or Fall. Umpire Fees: These are paid to NVTBL who in turn will pay the umpire association. Umpire fees will be collected from the team s account in arears on the 30th of each month. Mid $84.00 per game per team JV $89.00 per game per team Varsity $94.00 per game per team Fields: PSL $94.00 per game per team FAIRFAX COUNTY NVTBL currently obtains field permits from Fairfax County for the benefit of all Fairfax based teams that are not affiliated with another league. For any non Fairfax residents, your team will be charged $35.50 per player. Teams are asked (during the registration process) to provide the league schedulers with "SCHEDULING PREFERENCES" such as: o Prefer Saturday, Sunday, Either o Prefer Weekday game times 5:30, 8:00, Either o Prefer Double Headers, Single Games, Either o Prefer Listing of 5 Fields Located in Proximity to your Team o Listing of up to 5 teams you would like to play o Any additional info to help us with scheduling your season Tournaments: NVTBL will not host an end of season tournament for 13U and older teams.
