PROJECT NEED Main St/Maple Ave busiest intersection in Town Level of service (LOS) D in 2005 after near-term improvements 53 accidents reported at intersection and nearby driveways (Jan 02 Sep 04) Lack of sidewalks at intersection, on N. Maple Ave Pedestrian crossings not ADA compliant Lack of bicycle connections to W&OD Numerous driveways create conflicts Annual growth in traffic intersection will fail during peak periods within next few years
PROJECT OBJECTIVES Improve vehicle capacity for the intersection Improve pedestrian and bicycle access Enhance aesthetics along Main Street as a precedent for improving all of Main Street Improve access to adjacent businesses Encourage economic development through enhanced multimodal transportation access
