Fishing Reports/Photos Sunday, January 29, 2006 Spanish Fly shatters boat record!!! The Couples Group from South Carolina was back on the water today and with unbelievable results. The fishing this year has been spectacular, but today was epic. You can bet that I'll be on the water tomorrow. Bob and ConnieMcGee Martha McGee Joe Mancuso Phyliss and Chuck Carter 42 sailfish in one day The good part is that Daniel took the day off and David, from the Bob Cat, was running the boat. I think that Daniel is going to be looking to get the record back from his own boat. Simply spectacular fishing. Wish you were here? Daniel Espinoza and designated anglers Coco, the first mate, and Richard Lebo, the owner, won a big tournament at Los Suenos this weekend. There were over 50 boats competing for over $100,000 of the first place prize money. On Day 1, the guys were in 4th place with 2000 points, 1 blue marlin and 15 sails. On Day 2, they began to walk away with it, landing 26 sails. On Day 3, Daniel found out who is friends were. The Quepos fleet was on a very good bite about 50 miles to the south. Danny is from Quepos and when he arrived, the local boys cleared out, leaving him to pick at awesome baitball action. The crew set the boat record of 29 sailfish and won the tourney, beating out Bubba Carter who was a close second. The Dream Maker and Dino on The Sweat Dreams were in the running throughout the tournament, finishing up in the top 10. Fishing has been good on all 3 boats that we've been fishing this week, The Bite, Dream 2 and Dream Catcher. The Bite has been averaging 12 sails/day and caught a 250 pound yellowfin this week. The Dream 2 and the Dream Catcher have been catching 6-8 sails/day and they have caught several marlin. Reporting from the tropics... George Beckwith posted by Capt. George Beckwith at 9:39 AM

of 8 5/8/2009 4:37 PM Saturday, January 21, 2006 Costa Rica fishing report Thursday and Friday OOPs. I missed the report from Thurday, business as usual, plenty of sailfish. Marvin on The Bite did get into a school of tuna and caught a couple of 30 pounders. On Friday he went looking for and found another school of tuna, but this time he had live bait and caught 1 tuna that weighed over 250 pounds. 2 1/2 hours. Danny on The Spanish Fly is fishing in a tournament for a couple of days, so we aren't on the boat. Right now they are in 4th place with 12 sailfish releases on the first day. The guys on the Dream Catcher are really doing well, yesterday they caught a nice blue marlin and 4 sails and dolphin for dinner. All is going well, things are running smoothly. Purra vida, George posted by Capt. George Beckwith at 8:16 AM Wednesday, January 18, 2006 Jan. 18 Things are evening out The Spanish Fly 10 sailfish, 2 dorado Dream Maker 3 sailfish, 2 dorado AND...1 blue marlin Dream Catcher 6 sailfish AND The Bite...Today was the first day that I actually got to fish and I was on The Bite for the first time, The Spanish Fly's sister boat. We caught 12 sailfish (I hooked two of them) and the boys gave me an opportunity to hook a blue marlin...at least I got a couple of jumps out of him before things went slack. posted by Capt. George Beckwith at 8:50 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2006 Jan. 17 another big day for The Bite The Heiden Group from SC is continuing to kick butt. The Spanish Fly caught 8 sails today, but Marvin did it again on the Bite. He caught 16 sails and 3 nice dolphin.

of 8 5/8/2009 4:37 PM The boats that didn't do so great yesterday got things together and caught 6 sails each today, 2/angler/boat. I may actually get to fish tomorrow and hopefully will have some pics. posted by Capt. George Beckwith at 7:10 PM Monday, January 16, 2006 Starting off with a bang in Costa Rica I know that a lot of you are waiting for the big report. Here it is. Day 1 The Spanish Fly 8 sailfish, 3 dorado The Bite 13 sailfish, 4 dorado AND 1 blue marlin The other two boats didn't do so hot, one boat caught 5 sails and the other caught only 1. It's all about averages, things may balance out tomorrow, you never know. Another good reason to book your days early!!! We have already reserved The Spanish Fly and The Bite for 2007. Sign up now. If you have questions, contact me at info@pamlicoguide.com posted by Capt. George Beckwith at 7:02 PM Wednesday, January 11, 2006 Weekly update, off to Costa Rica... The following fishing reports should get much more interesting and hopefully with pics, I'm heading to Costa Rica on Friday. I had two groups in Costa Rica this past week and fishing was really good. Karl Wagner, from Ga, fished 3 days. Sunday he and his buddy split 12 sailfish, Monday they went inshore fishing and caught 2 big roosterfish and a handful of big cubera snapper. Tuesday they ended up their trip with a pair of 400 pound blue marlin, jumping a third off. A better fishing trip could not have been scripted. I hunted last Friday and it was pretty good, we got our bluebills. Saturday was slower, we shot 5 bluebills before I left for the Saltwater Sportsman Seminar in New Bern. I was amazed at the attendance. If any of you were there, let me know your thoughts, I'm curious about your feedback. Hopefully next post will be reported from the tropics... Tight lines, calm seas and God Bless, George H. Beckwith Jr. Oh, I almost forgot our uneventful striper trip to the shoals today. Saw a bunch of gannets on cormorants. No bites. I hear Phil Ambler rode along with Cayto this week and caught over 100.

of 8 5/8/2009 4:37 PM I'll get mine...just going south to get them. posted by Capt. George Beckwith at 9:06 PM Thursday, January 05, 2006 We finally caught a striper......until we got it to the boat and we saw that it was actually a really nice...foul-hooked dog shark. A severe case of cabin fever forced me out of the house and on the water today. Charged out to the shoals at Cape Lookout, no birds on the shoals, so without hesitation we jumped across to the other side. We saw a handful of pounding gannets and one decent patch of bait and plenty of dog sharks. That's pretty much the extent of it. Pretty dead towards the light and the fish camps so we retuned to the dog shark bite. I think Capt. Rick Cayton up in Oregon Inlet isn't letting any stripers get by. Every year is different, apparantly, this one is too warm... Somehow I thought these fishing reports would be more fun to post. Going ducking the next couple of days and off to CR on 1/13. I can be reached at info@pamlicoguide.com anytime. Tight lines, calm seas and God Bless, George Beckwith Jr. posted by Capt. George Beckwith at 10:55 PM Monday, January 02, 2006 A slow day with great ducks December 29, 2005 I hunted in what is arguably one of the finest private waterfowl impoundments on the Atlantic Flyway. It was a fairly slow day, we hunted til about 10 am, total birds: 1 drake pintail, 1 drake widgeon, 1 hen black duck and 1 drake BW teal. The next day we shot a coot and that's it. It looks like this wave of birds is heading south, another cold front and they will get replaced. Once again, even in great places, with great guides, there are slow days. posted by Capt. George Beckwith at 8:55 AM Be Careful when Playing in the Shoals December 28, 2005 I may have a picture to accompany this report, at the time, there wasn't a lot of time for

of 8 5/8/2009 4:37 PM taking pictures. Wednesday was perfect conditions for looking for the stripers, still late to show this year. We made it to the shoals for a quick look, but didn't see any bait, birds or fish. A 24' Bay Boat was about a hundred yards away doing the same thing. One second it was there, the next second it was upside down with both anglers in the water. We made a couple of attempts at towing the turtled boat to deeper water, it was getting beat up pretty bad in the waves. Both anglers were picked up and dropped off at Sea Tow. It can happen to anyone under any conditions. Please Be Careful. posted by Capt.
