Nipah virus kills 3 in Kerala Deaths of three people in Perambra in Kozhikode district of Kerala have been confirmed as a result of Nipah virus, a source close to health minister KK Shylaja confirmed on 20 th May. Nipah virus infection gets its name from the village in Malaysia where the person from whom the virus was first isolated succumbed to the disease in 1998. The disease spreads through fruit bats or flying foxes, of the genus Pteropus, who are natural reservoir hosts of the Nipah and Hendra viruses. There is no specific treatment for Nipah Virus. CRPF raises 'Bastariya Battalion' to combat Naxals activities In a bid to enhance combat capabilities in Naxal-hit area of Bastar district in Chhattisgarh, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), for the first time, has decided to include local representation in a special unit. The special unit has been numbered as 241 and named as 'Bastariya Battalion', as all the candidates are selected from four highly Naxal infested district in Chhattisgarh, i.e Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur and Sukma. Mumbai man becomes first to be on 'No-fly list' A senior official of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has confirmed that a Mumbaibased jeweller, Birju Kishore Salla, who created a hijack scare onboard a Jet Airways flight last year, has become the first person to be put on the 'National No Fly List.' Salla, 37, was arrested in October last year by the crime branch following the emergency landing made by the Mumbai- Delhi Jet Airways plane at the Ahmedabad airport after the pilot was alerted about a note about hijackers and a bomb which was found in the plane's washroom by a cabin crew.
