THE PHILOSOPHY OF DRIVING IN THE LAST PARADISE: WITHIN 25 YEARS THE ENNSTAL-CLASSIC HAS BECOME A CULT-EVENT WITH OLD CARS. E-cars, self-driving cars, hybrids, power service stations, the demonization of cars, political meanders: in this present where the end of the combustion engine is predicted, the Ennstal-Classic stands like a lighthouse for the times that were embossed by mobility and inventive talent. Patrick Dempsey sums it up: The landscape is breath taking, the rally is a challenge. I love this event, I love Austria. There were moments we felt like we were in a time capsule! The philosophy of the Ennstal-Classic inventors Michael Glöckner and Helmut Zwickl has been the recipe for success in the last 25 years: motor sports like in earlier times on the roads of today with the cars of yesterday, a very sporty challenge without electronic devices, without factor assessment, without tube tests, no math test for the navigators, pure driving that creates a biotope of happiness for the participants. FROM THE VALLEYS UP TO THE TREE LINE Is there anything more beautiful than to drive through the romantic Gesäuse with an old timer or to arrive above the tree line on the Nockalm? Freed from the garage air the teams can live the slogan Driving in the last paradise on the most beautiful roads our country has to offer. Thousands of spectators along the route and in the leg villages like Schladming, Steyr and Lunz create a unique atmosphere. It is the passion for the plate of the early years, the flair created by nostalgia and racing-icons that create a nimbus that makes the Ennstal-Classic one of the best classic car events in Europe.

AVERAGE SPEED 50 AND THE HUNDREDTH OF A SECOND The Ennstal-Classic is driven on asphaltic roads only. Approximately 450 km are driven on each of the two driving days. An average speed of 50 km/h applies to all four epochs. The return to this frame that has been practiced for almost two decades has been necessary due to organisational reasons. Only in special regularity tests like Oppenberg an average speed of 40 km/h for all epochs will be set. What makes the Ennstal so sporty: The average speed in the up to 20 km long regularity tests is supervised by secret measuring points. From there a time signal is sent to the encoded transponder box of each car. Additionally regularity tests with visible light barriers take place. Every hundredth difference from the target time is measured with one penalty point. The fewer points you get the better. Only mechanical time- and distance measuring devices are allowed. ENNSTAL-CLASSIC OVERALL WINNER 2017 A PRE-WAR LAGONDA! For the first time in 25 years a pre-war car won the overall ranking: the father-son team Alexander and Florian Deopito drove a Lagonda LG6 Le Mans Special from 1938. Second were Fritz Radinger/Thomas Wagner on Mini 1275 GT (1971), the third place went to Helmut Schramke/Peter Umfahrer on Jaguar XK150 DHC (1960). A sign for the popularity were more than 300 registrations from which 220 participants from 16 nations on 46 different car brands were chosen.

A selfie with a world star MYTH PORSCHE Porsche is the synonym for sports cars and hardly any other brand cultivates its company history as intensive at the brand from Stuttgart. Every year Porsche sends the family jewels to the Ennstal-Classic. The legendary cars are driven by racing icons like Walter Röhrl and Hans Joachim Stuck or world starts like Patrick Dempsey and Mark Webber. Wolfgang Porsche himself leads the team to the Driving in the last Paradise. GOLD-SILVER-BRONZE Eligible are cars built before December 31st 1972. Steyr-Puch, Mini Cooper or Ferrari SWB, Porsche 356, MG, or Mercedes 300 SL we welcome vehicles with an interesting curriculum and a sporty past, cars that have been technical milestones at their times. The starting field is limited. The overall winner gets something absolutely unique, the Alfred Neubauer Trophy. The first five of the overall ranking are awarded with a handmade Ennstal-Classic trophy; places 6 to 10 get gold medals. Silver medals are given to the places 11 to 20 and bronze to the places 21 to 30. From the overall ranking a separate ranking in the different epochs is prepared: EPOCH I: bis 1934 EPOCH II: 1935 bis 1950 EPOCH III: 1951 bis 1960 EPOCH IV: 1961 bis 1972 The ENTRY FEE (driver and co-driver incl. four evening events and starter package with team garments etc., excl. accommodation) is 2.500.- Last day of registration: February 28 th 2018 BUSINESS WITH EMOTIONS Phenomena take place: Whether it is the Welcome Evening at the beautiful Schloss Pichlarn, the evening in Schladming or the events in the classic-tent in Gröbming, the after effects of the competition leave nobody cold and therefore networks and acquaintances happen that would not be possible in everyday life. Partners of our event are offered a unique stage at a major media event where the message for their target group can be placed effectively.

PUT SPURS TO YOUR CLASSIC CAR ON CLOSED RACETRACKS! The Racecar-Trophy is an independent competition, which takes place on the three Ennstal-Classic days. It has been invented for cars without road permission. The participators drive their jewels in a beautiful surrounding and at the same time experience the legendary aura of the Ennstal-Classic, including all evening events.

WE WELCOME THE FOLLOWING CARS: MONOPOSTO: monoposto racecars until 1954. GT & SPORSTCARS: Sports- and GT-cars, touring cars and rallye-cars until 1984 FORMULA LIBRE: Racing two-seaters, sports-prototypes and formula racecars until 1984. The ENTRY FEE for one team including four evening events and starter package with team garments etc., excl. accommodation is 2.100.- THE COMPLETE PACKAGE: FORMULA I ARENA, MOUNTAIN ROAD AND AIRFIELD Qualifying at the Red Bull-Ring, bend orgy on mountain roads and on the airfield the time of the old airfield races comes back: that is the fabric dreams are made of. The spectrums covers cars like: a Cooper 500 Formula III race car once driven by Sir Stirling Moss, Alpine Renault, Porsche 911 RS 2.7, Lancia B20GT, Mini-Cooper, specials like KMW-Porsche, purebred racecars like Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 with Daytona-, Imola- and Le Mans success, Abarth 2000 CanAm-McLaren and a Formula 5000 March. The Racecar-Trophy takes place on four settings: Number one on Thursday is the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. In a 90 minute Qualifying the boundaries can be tested and the field for the two heats of the regularity tests are set. Number two is the almost nine kilometre long, imposing Tauplitzalm Alproad where three runs are driven. Number three is the most beautiful Alp airfield in Niederöblarn where a 1.5 km long circuit is driven in two heats. Number four is he final mountain challenge Moosheim-Gröbming on Saturday, before the cars are presented to thousands of spectators at the Grand Pirx of Gröbming. The regulations make it possible that also a Mini Cooper is able to win against the stronger cars, like Marlene and Florian Kunz in 2017. The winner of each epoch is rewarded with a trophy designed by Christian Nell an presented by Sir Stirling Moss. Last day of registration: March 15 th 2018

Fritz Radinger and Thomas Wagner on Mini-Cooper (1971), overall second I drive the Ennstal for many years now, but it has never been so amazing like this year. The new route made it diverting. It was the most beautiful Ennstal-Classic I have ever driven. Helmut Schramke and Peter Umfahrer on Jaguar XK150 (1960), overall third I am the crucial part in an oldtimer Walter Röhrl and Herbert Völker on Porsche 356B 2000 GS GT, (1963) One of the most beautiful events in the whole classic schedule! Sigi Wolf and his wife Andrea on GAZ GL1, (1938) We drive more than 800 km over many Alp passes in two days, which is a true challenge for men and machine! Rudi Roubinek and Günther Schrems on Fiat 1100S, (1948) It was a celebration, I became young again, like back then when I still drove rallyes!
