1/2/3 Measurement Last week we were learning about measurement. As a class we listed items that we wanted to measure and then spent the lesson using informal measurement items or rulers to measure them. We measured things such as the stage, the door, the mat, books, drink bottles, the smart board and the piano.
3/4/5/6 In literacy the students are reading some versions of Shakespeare s stories. Currently they are reading Macbeth, which is about greed and murder! They are learning lots of new vocabulary and are researching the origin of words. The student are also applying the comprehension skill of visualisation. They will have a task to build a model of the famous Globe Theatre (where many of Shakespeare s plays were performed, and where he himself performed) in Minecraft. They are very excited to be using one of their favourite apps for an educational purpose. Last Wednesday 4/5/6 went to the Yarrawonga foreshore to attend the Open Water Learning experience.when we got off the bus we got into mixed groups. We met the life guard instructors. Blair was the instructor teaching us about water safety. He told us about checking the water before we go swimming, and if you were lost at sea you should stay in a huddle to keep warm. We went into the water with boogie boards and made two lines and one person went through the middle on the boogie board. I fell off. We learnt how to save somebody that is in trouble by speaking very clearly to the person and tell them that you would throw them the rope and tell them to lay on their back so its easier to pull them. It was fun and I learnt a lot of water safety. By Cheyenne Nixon
