For earning the No. 2 seed, the Bears enjoyed a first-round bye and will now face third-seeded TCU, who downed No. 6 Oklahoma State, 4-0, Friday. The Bears and Horned Frogs will meet Saturday at noon. Baylor recorded a 4-0 victory over TCU during the regular season on March 3 at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center. For the fourth time, Baylor will host the Championships as the Hurd Tennis Center has served as the event s home in 2001, 2006 and 2011 as well. Entering the match, Baylor (20-4) has won six of its last seven contests, including three straight. As the home team this season Baylor is 11-2. CHAMPIONSHIP QUICK HITS BAYLOR IN BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY: The Bears have produced a 34-10 record overall in Big 12 Championship play. Baylor has been at the top of the championship podium eight times. BU has won the event four out of the last eight years and also earned four straight titles from 2002-05. The Bears have made the finals 13 times, including each of the last three seasons. They are 8-4 in title matches. WHEN HOSTING THE CHAMPIONSHIPS: In the three previous times that the Bears have hosted this event, they have never finished with a title. In 2001, a second-seeded Baylor squad had a first round bye and then beat seventh-seeded Colorado, 4-0, in quarterfinal action. However, third-seeded Texas then dispatched of the Bears in the semifinals, 4-1. In 2006, the No. 1 seeded Bears downed Nebraska,4-0, in the quarterfinals and then took care of Oklahoma State 4-2 in the semifinals, but a No. 2 seeded Texas squad once again got the better of Baylor, 4-1, in the championship finals. In 2011, top-seeded Baylor dropped a 4-3 decision to fifth-seeded Oklahoma in its first match at the event in semifinals. LAST YEAR AT BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP: The Bears entered the 2014 Big 12 Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, as the No. 1 seed and topped fifth-seeded Oklahoma State, 4-2, to advance to the finals where the Bears won a marathon match over third-seeded Oklahoma, 4-3. WHEN BEING THE NO. 2 SEED: The Bears have been the event s No. 2 seed on three other occasions, 1999, 2001 and 2008. In those years, Baylor has gone a combined 6-2, while winning the title in 2008 in College Station, Texas. TEAM NOTES SINGLES STREAKS & TRENDS: Senior Mate Zsiga currently leads the team with an eight-match win streak, and he has not list since Feb. 15. Zsiga has played predominantly in the five spot this season and has recorded a 10-2 record in dual-match play. Felipe Rios has also been a strong force for the Bears at the bottom of the lineup, winning six-straight matches to boast a 16-2 dual-match mark, which leads the Bears. BEARS DOMINATING THE DOUBLES POINT: BU is enjoying perhaps its most successful doubles season in school history. The Bears are 22-1 in the opening point in 2015, having gone on to win 20 of those matches. Baylor did not play doubles at Memphis due to the threat of inclement weather, but has won the doubles point in every other match, except on March 22 against OU. BU s success comes from a strong third position as that spot has gone 20-2 in doubles matches. During conference play, the Bears did only lost three doubles matches en route to an impressive 5-0 mark in doubles points. TEAM STREAKS & TRENDS: Baylor enters the conference championships winning six of its last seven matches. The Bears recorded a season high eight-match win streak that stretched from Feb. 20- March 21.

LOOKING AHEAD: A Baylor victory in the semifinal round of the conference championships will advance the Bears to the finals for the 14th time in the event s 19th year. Of its 13 previous appearances in finals, Baylor has won the crown eight times. RANKED BEARS: Baylor currently has four singles competitors ranked in the latest ITA rankings including No. 1 Julian Lenz, No. 33 Tony Lupieri, 74th-ranked Max Tchoutakian and 110th-ranked Mate Zsiga. Zsiga now stands with 102 singles matches, which is eigth on the BU career wins list and only one win behind Matija Zgaga for seventh. BEARS DOMINATE ACADEMIC ALL BIG 12 SQUAD: The Baylor men's tennis team led the Big 12 Conference with seven student-athletes earning a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 Team, league officials announced Tuesday. Five players, Robbie Korth, Julian Lenz, Felipe Rios, Vince Schneider and Mate Zsiga were named to the first team, while Diego Galeano and Tony Lupieri nabbed second-team honors. matt knoll head COACh 19Th SeASON WAShbURN UNIVeRSITY, 1989 Throughout his 18-plus seasons at the helm of the Baylor tennis program, head coach Matt Knoll has produced phenomenal results. Since arriving at Baylor in 1997, Knoll has amassed a 445-116 (.793) record. His teams have captured 13 Big 12 Conference regular season titles, including eight in a row from 2002-09, and eight Big 12 Tournament championships, including three straight from 2007-09. However, the program's biggest accomplishment came in 2004 when it captured the NCAA national championship. Knoll's teams also won the 2005 National Team Indoor Championship and finished as the NCAA runner-up in 2005 and NCAA semifinalists in 2006 and 2007. In addition, Knoll was named the National Coach of the Year three times (1999, 2005, 2008). He has also been honored as the Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year six times (1998, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009). Knoll was also inducted into the Baylor Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008, becoming just the second tennis representative to receive the honor. During his tenure at Baylor, the program has risen to the top, becoming one of the nation's top two most successful collegiate men's tennis team over the past 13 seasons (2002-14). During that span, the Bears have not been ranked lower than No. 18 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll. Baylor was ranked No. 1 after winning the 2004 NCAA championship, No. 2 in the final poll in `05, No. 4 in `03, `06 and `07, No. 6 in '11 and '14, No. 7 in `02, `09 and '10, No. 8 in `08, No. 18 in '12 and No. 12 in '13. For 10 years from 2002 through 2011, Baylor was one of only two schools, UCLA being the other, to be ranked in the top 10 of the final poll each year. From 2004-2007, Baylor was the only men's team to advance to the NCAA semifinals each year. During that same period, the Bears posted a 118-14 (.894) mark. In summary, during Knoll's time at Baylor, the Bears have finished the season ranked in the top 10, 13 times. Baylor has made 17 straight NCAA Tournament appearances and reached the round of 16 15 times in the past 16 seasons, including the NCAA finals in both 2004 and 2005. Following the 2004 championship many critics believed the program could not continue its winning ways, but since the title season Knoll's teams have continued to produce tremendous results on the court. Last season, the Bears racked up their most wins since 2009 under Knoll's watch, amassing a 26-6 record overall, while advancing back to the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time since 2011. Knoll guided BU to a sweep of the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles as the Bears took down No. 3 Oklahoma, 4-3, in the league tournament finale. The Bears were 4-1 in Big 12 play and were 19-6 vs. ranked foes. Despite starting season just 7-4, Knoll guided BU to and 11-match win streak in the middle of the season, including upsets at No. 3 UCLA and vs. No. 6 Illinois. In the NCAA Championships, Baylor blanked No. 12 Illinois, 4-0, in the round of 16, before falling to No. 4 Virginia, 4-0 in the quarterfinals. Individually, Knoll helped sophomore Julian Lenz and senior Patrick Pradella to end of the year singles rankings of No. 4 and No. 18 respectively, with both players earning ITA All-America singles honors. Knoll's Bears finished the year at No. 6 and as the highest ranked team in Texas.
