t June 1-9, 2018 Nature Craft: Enjoy these fun nature-themed activities geared toward adults and older kids. This month we offer Beachstone Jewelry, Gyotaku fish prints, and sun catchers. Hunter Boot Tide Pool Walk: Join Capt. Mark on an adventure to shallow watery places. Depending on tide stage we will explore rocky Atlantic shoreline tide pools, or the grassy salt marshes that ring the salt pond. We will look at the seaweeds and the creatures that live in these sheltered areas. A perfect application for the Hunter Boots available from our lending closet! Naturalist Van Outing To Kettle Pond Visitor Center: Kettle Pond Visitor Center is the northeast headquarters for US Fish & Wildlife. The center has very nice displays covering local habitats and geography, which our Naturalist will review. Outing is about one hour and twenty minutes. Birding: We visit local hotspots to seek out our fine feathered friends. Outing will utilize one of the Inn vans, our open-air, or perhaps a boat. Naturalist Mark will bring along optics and local knowledge. Solar Sunday: View the sun through our beautiful scope outfitted with a high-end solar filter. This is a safe way to see sunspots on the surface of the sun. Electric Tour of Weekapaug: Join us for an insider s tour of Weekapaug in our new open-air electric shuttle. Bucolic lanes and lawns, beautiful homes, hidden beaches and big views. Radio Control Sailboats: Sail the seas without leaving solid land. Our r/c sailboats are fun for all ages. Boathouse Napatree Point, a mile-long ribbon of sand and dune, runs west from Watch Hill towards Fisher s Island. At the turn of the century the spit was home to Ft. Mansfield, an installation of large naval guns; in 1938 dozens of homes were destroyed in the great hurricane. Today Naps is a conservation area and a wonderful place to see shore birds, including American Oyster Catchers. Join us on a 3-hour tour of this remarkable site. $20 per person. The ride is slow, tranquil and whisper quiet. (Tickets are provided to overnight guests at check-in. They can also be purchased at front desk for $20 each.) Naturalist s Motorboat Tour: Join Capt. Mark for a one-hour exploration of the salt pond in our shallow-draft motorboat. It is an exciting way to explore the lagoon and is great at getting into the best areas to view wildlife. Trips limited to six. (Tickets may be purchased at front desk for $20 each.) Inn Tour: Join our Naturalist for a walk around the building. Learn about the original Inn, the Great Hurricane of 38, our current building and recent renovations. Inn Lobby. S mores at the Fire pit: Enjoy a childhood favorite at our Fire pit. Microscopic Pond Life: You will be amazed at how much life there is in a drop of pond water. We see larval creatures as well as all kinds of plankton. Crabbing: Our little bridge by the front entrance is the best crabbing spot in town. Join the Boathouse crew in a hunt for the feisty blue-shell. Great for participants and observers. Our expert instructor incorporates elements of stretching and yoga. Stable boards and calm sheltered waters make for a pleasant experience. Tai Chi: As the most well-known of China s martial arts, the slow, circular-focusing movements relax muscles while promoting proper core alignment and balance. Yoga with Lisa: Gentle yoga with our most experienced and sensitive instructor. Class may be in the Fenway studio or outside depending on class and conditions. Coffee Cruise - We serve complimentary coffee and pastries aboard the first Quonnie Queen cruise. Wine on the Water Director of Wine Education and paddleboard enthusiast Erin Swain leads an evening outing on SUPs. Along the way we will stop at a remote beach and participate in tasting of fun summer wines. $75/person 21 & over. The Brewmaster s Social Series: We open our doors for a mid-week house party. Buzzards Bay Brewing will join us for a three-course family-style meal, where each course is paired with the brewer s choice of beer.
