Special Awards MSA LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Sir Stirling Moss OBE The MSA Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honour bestowed by the MSA Board. It is presented to a member of the UK motor sport community in recognition of outstanding achievement over many years in the sport. A household name for over six decades and the first British driver to win the British Grand Prix, Sir Stirling remains an icon to motor sport fans across the globe. JLT MSA CLUB OF THE YEAR Farnborough District Motor Club Farnborough DMC works with three other clubs to organise the annual Abingdon CAR-nival, raising 275,000 for charity over the last 20 years. The club attends a number of community events in its area and has seen a significant number of new members as a result. It has a clear plan to engage new members and has set up a number of Autotests to encourage younger people. JLT MSA VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR OVERALL James McKeefry FROM: MAGHERA, NORTHERN IRELAND James has been part of Magherafelt & District Motor Club for over 30 years and was praised for his conviction focused on making motor sport safer and more accessible to all. McKeefry supports local clubs as well as working and linking them with local charities. MSA 04 Night of Champions

JLT MSA VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR MARSHAL Keith Gault FROM: ENNISKILLEN, NORTHERN IRELAND Keith organises regular marshal training sessions and works to encourage marshals to attend training. Special Awards JLT MSA VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR OTHER Margaret Simpson FROM: WIGAN, LANCASHIRE Margaret was nominated by the British Motorsport Marshals Club in recognition of her efforts at Oulton Park. Supporting volunteers in a number of ways, she goes above and beyond what is normally expected of a marshal. FIA BEST OFFICIAL OF THE SEASON David Barlow FROM: PERTH, SCOTLAND A stalwart of Scottish motor sport for five decades, David originated both the Ecosse Challenge and Junior 1000 Championship for 14-17-year-olds in Scotland, his positive contribution to Scottish motor sport and beyond is immense and the benefits will be felt for many years to come. RENAULT MSA YOUNG JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR Jack Benyon FROM: CHESTER Jack, 24, received the award having impressed the judges with a high-quality selection of original news and features. The panel also noted his rapid career progression, which has seen him become Group National Editor of both Motorsport News and Autosport in just over a year. RENAULT MSA YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR Dan Bathie FROM: DERBYSHIRE Dan, 25, was Highly Commended by the judges in 2015 and went a step further in 2016. His outstanding photographic entry combined technical excellence with artistry and showcased a variety of motor sport disciplines at both national and international levels. MSA 06 Night of Champions

RSF MSA YOUNG DRIVER OF THE YEAR Lewis Brown FROM: LINCOLNSHIRE Junior racing driver Lewis was crowned the RSF MSA Young Driver of the Year following a five-way shootout at izone Driver Performance Centre, Silverstone. The accolade is awarded each year to a member of the MSA Academy s AASE programme a three-year course delivered in conjunction with Loughborough College. Seventeen-year-old Brown impressed the judges, scoring highest in all areas of assessment. MSA ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD Anglesey Circuit The MSA Environmental Award recognises outstanding contributions towards environmental responsibility and sustainability within motor sport. Based within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Anglesey Circuit takes steps to balance its activities against environmental considerations. BWRDC LORD WAKEFIELD TROPHY Katherine Legge FROM: GUILDFORD, NOW LIVING IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA The Lord Wakefield Trophy is one of the most prestigious awards available to women in motor sport. Katherine burst on the racing scene in 2001 by beating future F1 star Kimi Räikkönen s lap record and earning a pole position in Formula Ford. Racing in the US since 2005, Legge spent 2016 continuing her role as the full-season lead driver for Panoz DeltaWing Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. MSA 07 Night of Champions

The Champions MSA BRITISH CADET KART CHAMPIONSHIP Harry Thompson FROM: HARLOW Twelve-year-old Harry won more than half of the year s finals to finish 57 points clear of his nearest rival. It was a successful year for the Fusion Motorsport driver who also claimed the Honda Cadet Kart and Little Green Man titles. MSA BRITISH JUNIOR KART CHAMPIONSHIP Jonathan Hoggard FROM: SPALDING Jonathan only needed to finish the final round to secure the title after an impressive campaign, which saw him win three out of four finals in the opening two rounds. MSA BRITISH KART CHAMPIONSHIP Oliver Hodgson FROM: KING S LYNN Oliver won the revamped British Kart Championship with one win and a consistent series of podium finishes. The 20-year-old World Senior Rotax Champion sealed the title at PFI, winning both finals with ease. MSA BRITISH SHORT CIRCUIT GEARBOX KART CHAMPIONSHIP Scott Allen FROM: BANBURY Scott sealed his first British title at Shenington, after dominating the championship for most of the year. The Banbury-based 28-yearold won four out of the six finals in the three-round championship. MSA 08 Night of Champions

MSA BRITISH LONG CIRCUIT KART CHAMPIONSHIP Jack Layton FROM: BEDFORD A top-two finish in every round this year meant Jack only had to finish the penultimate race in the top 12 to seal his maiden title. Layton wrapped up the championship with a sixth-place finish at Pembrey. MSA BRITISH CAR TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIP Henry Kitching FFROM: SHIPLEY, YORKSHIRE Henry fought back from fourth in the title race to claim his first British championship at the final weekend of the year. The two-time BTRDA GoldStar Champion wrapped up the title with his fourth win of the season. MSA BRITISH SPORTING TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP Roland Uglow FROM: DELABOLE, CORNWALL Roland retained the championship title with several rounds to spare, having led the standings since May with passenger Laura Wilks. Consistent top-three finishes allowed Uglow to wrap up his second consecutive title in his recognisable orange Crosslé. MSA BRITISH AUTOTEST CHAMPIONSHIP Alastair Moffatt FROM: GLOUCESTERSHIRE Alastair made history by claiming his fifth title after another dominant campaign in his Mini Special. After a close season, a podium finish on every event entered allowed him to wrap up the title with one round to spare. MSA 09 Night of Champions

The Champions MSA BRITISH SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP Colin Calder FROM: THURSO, CAITHNESS Colin sealed his fourth consecutive title with a second-place finish in the final round at Anglesey. The Scot completed another winning season in his Gould NME GR55 which he shares with daughter Heather. MSA BRITISH DRAG RACING CHAMPIONSHIP Andy Robinson FROM: VERWOOD, DORSET A brace of victories at the famous Santa Pod Raceway gave Robinson his fifth championship title. Andy led the championship since May in his very recognisable orange 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. MSA BRITISH HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP Scott Moran FROM: LUDLOW, SHROPSHIRE Scott earned the British Hill Climb crown at Prescott with four rounds to spare. After taking a back seat last year, he made a dominant return to the championship, winning half of the season s rounds and equalling the late Tony Marsh s record of six British titles. F4 BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP - CERTIFIED BY FIA, POWERED BY ECOBOOST Max Fewtrell FROM: HENLEY-ON-THAMES, OXFORDSHIRE Seventeen-year-old Max was consistency personified throughout the season, with a total of 16 podium finishes. Fewtrell sealed the title by just seven points, with a win in the final race of the season at Brands Hatch. MSA 010 Night of Champions

BRDC BRITISH F3 CHAMPIONSHIP Matheus Leist FROM: BRAZIL Brazilian Matheus claimed the 2016 F3 crown after consistent podium finishes throughout the season. He came into the finale at Donington Park with a 15-point deficit, but took the lead in the opening race and never looked back, to claim the title and his fourth win of the season. MSA BRITISH CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP Martin Gould & Simon Kerfoot FROM: WARRINGTON, CHESHIRE Martin Gould and navigator Simon Kerfoot claimed their first MSA British title in the final round of the season at Walters Arena. Four victories out of the five rounds they competed in were enough for the pair to clinch the title in their Buxton 4x4 Rivet. MSA BRITISH RALLYCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP Dan Rooke FROM: DEVON Nineteen-year-old Dan made history by becoming the youngest ever British Rallycross Champion, in his maiden year in the Supercar class. Consistent wins and podium finishes allowed Dan to seal the championship with one round to spare. MSA BRITISH HISTORIC RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP Jason Pritchard & Phil Clarke FROM: BUILTH WELLS, POWYS & CHURCH STRETTON, LUDLOW Jason and Phil claimed their second consecutive BHRC title after three victories and five class wins in their Ford Escort MkII. The pair sealed the championship on the Trackrod Historic Cup after recovering from two non-finishes earlier in the season. MSA 011 Night of Champions

The Champions MSA BRITISH JUNIOR RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP Robert Duggan & Ger Conway FROM: KILLARNEY, IRELAND Twenty-three-year-old Robert, and co-driver Gerard, wrapped up the championship on the Ulster Rally as they led from start to finish, taking their fourth victory this season and with it the Junior BRC laurels. MSA BRITISH RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP MANUFACTURERS Ford The Ford Fiesta R5 dominated the British Rally Championship, with Elfyn Evans commanding his to championship victory. The Fiesta also dominated the Junior Championship with ten out of the fourteen competitors driving the popular Ford machines. MSA BRITISH RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP Elfyn Evans & Craig Parry FROM: MACHYNLLETH & NEWTOWN, WALES Elfyn and co-driver Craig dominated the revamped British Rally Championship, winning five of the seven rounds. Elfyn was crowned champion on the Ulster Rally, exactly 20 years after his father Gwyndaf took the title on the same event. BRITISH GT CHAMPIONSHIP Jonny Adam & Derek Johnston FROM: CAMBERLEY & NORTH DEAN, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE Jonny and Derek comfortably overturned their 11.5-point deficit by finishing second in the season finale at Donington Park. Jonny made British GT history by becoming the first driver to successfully defend his crown in the series 24-year history. MSA 012 Night of Champions

MSA BRITISH TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP MANUFACTURERS West Surrey Racing West Surrey Racing (WSR) claimed its fourth constructor s title in its 20th anniversary year. After a close battle with Honda Yuasa Racing throughout the season, the strong team of Jack Goff, Sam Tordoff and Rob Collard allowed WSR to claim the championship by 73 points. MSA BRITISH TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP Gordon Shedden FROM: AUCHTERARDER, PERTHSHIRE Scotsman Gordon fended off a record eight title rivals to win his third BTCC title in a close season finale at Brands Hatch. In front of a crowd of 45,000, Gordon dramatically defended his championship title, overturning a two-point deficit to Sam Tordoff in the final race. MSA 013 Night of Champions

Hawthorn Memorial Trophy HAWTHORN MEMORIAL TROPHY Lewis Hamilton FROM: STEVENAGE Mike Hawthorn was the first driver from Britain or the Commonwealth to win the Formula 1 crown. His title victory in 1958 paved the way for unparalleled success for his fellow countrymen; since then, nine other Britons and a further four Commonwealth drivers have won a total of 21 titles at motor racing s highest level. Hawthorn died in a road crash in January 1959, just a few months after his F1 success. Since then, the Hawthorn Memorial Trophy has been presented annually to the most successful British or Commonwealth driver in the previous F1 season. Hamilton finished second in this the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship after a long running battle with Mercedes AMG team-mate Nico Rosberg. Hamilton scored 10 grand prix victories, taking his career total to 53 and putting him second on the list of all-time winners in Formula 1, behind Michael Schumacher.
