Cmmittee Reprts Glf Curse Ed Rackwski & Jhn Cndn Jhn Rbertsn & Shawn Girdan prvided infrmatin and answered questins frm the Bard abut the fllwing: Wrking n filling in the bunkers n #2, 11 (behind the greens) &13 fairway f the Hlly. A walking bridge n #13 Hlly has been installed. Lking at filling in the natural area n the right side f the fairway n #2 Hlly if permissin granted. #6 Hlly gld tee - remved a tree t make the tee bx larger. Winter wrk is dne tree remval & grass burning. Wrk t be dne n the asphalt cart path frm #10 green t #11 tee n the Hlly will be cmpleted which will likely invlve remving several trees. Driving range cart path near the Glf Academy will be imprved, and will als likely invlve the remval f trees. They are grming & brushing the greens. Dllar spt is back and have sprayed the greens. Pre-emerge fr weeds spraying is being dne. 1
Cart parking lt tree remval ne died last year and the ther became infected with beetles s bth had t be remved. #13 Magnlia remval f several trees; mre trees will be remved as they wrk n the cart paths. Small tine aeratin will prbably be dne a cuple mre times befre regular aeratin. They are verall happy with the new greens n the Challenge Curse; the new green behind the tee bxes n Magnlia #1 suffered a little bit due t the shade. There have been multiple sightings f cytes; the PPOA will be addressing this in an upcming cmmunicatin. Jhn Cndn discussed the fllwing: The winter wrk n the glf curses is cntinuing with cart path wrk, fertilizing f the greens and aeratin (with very small hles) and sme tree remval. The fertilizing f the fairways is als n schedule. Brwn spts n several f the Magnlia greens have been nted. Jhn and Shawn are aware f that. It was mst likely caused by the wet weather this winter. As f last week the Hlly greens lked great. Overall the glf cnditins are very playable. Glf Assciatins PMGA Mark Vetsch PMGA membership nw is at 148 members. The Armed Frces Cup sign up sheet is in the men s lcker rm; 80 are signed up as f tday; March 29 th is the first day fr this event. Lttery is ging well. First Medal Series event is March 15 th. 2 PWGA Bbbi Erdman As f March 2, 2018 we have 122 registered members, including tw new members, Rse Yung McHenry and Nancy Niedermaier. Our Opening Day will be Tuesday, March 6. We have 87 members (77 fr glf) registered fr the breakfast, PWGA meeting and a glf turnament. The frmat is an ABCD scramble n the Magnlia (6 hles played frm each f the red, range and gld tees). Kyle Kirk will speak t the membership cncerning the handicap prcedures. We will distribute the Pinewild Handicap Prcedures bklet. Thanks t Kyle and Sally Manich each member will als receive a laminated card fr quick references f rules and prcedures in glf. On March 13 the ppular Hlly-Pines turnament will take place. The members are divided int 2 equal teams (Hlly & Pines) fr a Stablefrd match and lunch buffet. PAL submitted by Pat Sykra Pal has 60 members that have registered and paid dues. March 6 will be Pal's Welcme Scial/Cffee at Lynn Walker's hme at 91 Stneykirk. We are lking frward t many new members attending. The Pal Opener will be March 20. We have 25 members signed up s far but are expecting many mre participants. Our Turnament Cmmittee has been wrking very hard and pening day prves t be a blast!! Tickle Me Pink - Our cmmittee fr ur cancer care fundraiser in Octber has already begun meeting and starting t make plans. One-Day Member Guest Experience (new Full Member Guest Day) J Ann Sluder J Ann asked abut a better understanding f the bjective f the ne day Member Guest Experience wherein a Full Member is nt allwed t invite a Scial Member (nw referred t as Club r Leisure member), and they are nt allwed t invite a guest r participate in these events even thugh Full and Scial Members have mutual utside friends r ptential members wh like t play tgether, and 3
The Membership as f the August 2017 Annual Reprt was 254 Full Members and 404 Scial Members (61%). Chris Little explained that the intent f the new structure was t create an experience that is an added value t Full Members. Under the ld frmat, we had very few true guests n Guest Days; mre f the guests were actually Scial Members. J Ann asked if this is als a catalyst fr seeking new members. Chris agreed that it is but designed t be a Full Member benefit. Kyle Kirk reprted that the first Member Guest day this year (Wednesday, March 7 th ) is being very well attended with abut 15 Guests and 7 Full Members signed up. USGA Handicap Changes fr 2018 Kyle Kirk One change advises that the Turnament cmmittee shuld pst all turnament scres; Pinewild already implemented this prcedure last year. Disability has been changed t injury. 2020 is the year that majr changes will be made effective. Pl & Tennis Kaye Marrale & Chris Nvak Tennis Reprt Mike Garza advised the tennis curts are in gd shape. He has rdered 2 new nets and will be resurfacing the player bxes t ready them fr the warm weather seasn. Pl Reprt A salt bard needed t be replaced under warranty. As a result, the warranty was extended a year. Mike has filled ut the paperwrk t request an inspectin fr each pl that will cst $200 each. The inspectins need t be dne 2 weeks prir t pening (the week befre Memrial Day). Mike has als rdered salt fr maintenance f the pl. Huse Chris Nvak & Christine Stackhuse Flwers and mantle decratins have been changed t a Spring theme. New carpeting is n rder. This includes numerus dem days, assciatin peners, Club events, junir glf prgrams, clinics and mre. We will have the starters and rangers back n the curses and at the tees; please check in with them as needed. We will als be adding a late afternn, early evening ranger t mnitr play after mst staff is gne. A reminder that we are lking t have all the members register their private carts, many have dne s, and the Glf Shp staff will finalize the prgram in the next few weeks. A reminder that ONLY registered carts are allwed n the Club facilities. As mst members knw, the Club sends ut numerus e-news (emailed) bulletins. If yu knw f smene wh is nt getting it r has changed their email address, let me knw and I will update the recrd. 2018 Charity Turnament Mike Hmel & Leightn Smith Mike Hmel and Leightn Smith met with the Meals n Wheels Turnament rganizers n Tuesday, 2/27. The cmmittee reviewed their plan f actin memrandum, reprting prgress n all frnts. They d desire additinal hle spnsrs but feel cmfrtable that mre will be cming in ver the cming weeks. A variety f tpics were discussed t include vlunteers. Mike prvided his list f Pinewild residents wh have vlunteered t wrk the turnament. There are 22 r 23 grups signed n t participate. The gal is a full field f 32 fursmes. Chris and Kyle were present and ffered suggestins and guidance, as necessary. New Business Phase V PPOA is making decisins based n the infrmatin they ve received. It s t early fr the Club t get invlved. The plan has nt yet been presented t the Village f Pinehurst, as several steps still need t be taken by the develpers. 5
