Lauryn Hicks was dominant in a complete game shutout over Northwestern last night as the Lady Kats defeated the Lady Tigers 6-0. Hicks struck out 13 and lost her perfect game and no-hitter in the bottom of the fifth inning on a single up the middle. It was the only base runner Northwestern had all night. Olivia Branch led us at the plate going 3- for-3 with a double. Ellie Trine also had three hits for the Lady Kats. The Lady Kats improved to 7-3 and play Carroll at home on Wednesday. Coach Susong Lauryn Hicks Lady Kat pitcher hurled a one-hitter in Kokomo s 6-0 win over Northwestern
The Kokomo boys varsity golf team hosted No. 3 Noblesville on a wet Monday afternoon at the Kokomo Country Club and the Millers lived up to their ranking in defeating the Wildkats by a final score of 153-198. Division 1 recruit Clay Merchent of Noblesville was the medalist with an even par round of 35. Merchent survived a triple-bogey eight by making three birdies in his last four holes to get back to even par. Despite falling to 0-4 in dual matches for the season, there were many positives in this nine-hole match for the Wildkats. For the first time this season, Kokomo placed two players in the 40s, and for the first time this season, the Wildkats shot a team score under 200. Freshman Jackson Richards was once again low for the Wildkats with a 42. This was Jackson s best nine-hole score of the season. Also recording a season-best score was junior Clayton Brown who came in with a 49. Isaiah Cardwell also recorded his best nine-hole match score with a 53, and Deuce Bailey rounded out the card with a 54. In the junior varsity match at the American Legion, Noblesville shot an impressive team score of 152. Bruce Taflinger s JV squad was led by freshman Juan Alberti with a 59. Also playing for the JV Wildkats on Monday were freshman Diego Rico, who shot 63, and junior Wylen Ford who finished with a 64. The varsity and JV squads return to action on Thursday against Peru at Rock Hollow. Coach Davis
