Parent induction Parent Induction

Welcome To The Surf Club If your kids see you involved and having fun they will do the same!

Why Are You Here? You are a keen and enthusiastic parent who can see the fun and skills Nippers will bring to your child! It can also bring you enjoyment as well by being a Parent Helper on the beach each Sunday. Active parents are critical to a successful program

What is an Active Parent You must be a Financial Member of the Club Active Patrol Member Nipper Parent Member (General Membership) Have signed the Child Protection Waiver Form Attend Induction to be signed off

Child Protection Child Protection is about keeping children safe from abuse and protecting them from people who are unsuitable to work with children by: adopting appropriate measures to ensure the right people are involved in an organisation protecting members from harassment, abuse, discrimination and other forms of inappropriate behaviour particularly in relation to those involved with juniors providing education promoting and modelling positive behaviour to kid s.

What is an Active Parent? You assist on the beach running Nippers, helping out Covered by club insurance Help Age Managers run events Wade, flags, sprint etc Support our culture Positive influence on our Nippers

How Can You Help Out? Age Manager or start as a Assistant Age Manager, There is no limit on amount of Assistants, just ask! Water Safety Join the Bronze Squad for training Beach Set up / Pack up BBQ Become an Official (28 Oct @ Coogee) Front row seat at Carnivals

We Need Your Help! Minimum: 2 managers and 2 helpers per age group All to complete Age Mangers course Minimum: 2 Officials per age group WATER SAFETY: Ratio can be 1:3 Nippers water safety hours offset patrol hours Coaches: Level 1 qualification Committee members Help to spread the workload

Why The Uniform So Age Managers, Water Safety, Nipper Committee and SLSA Inspectors all know you re a Financial member and have attended this course and are covered to help out with the kids on the beach.

Our Objectives for Nippers To create future surf lifesavers & learn important skills Resuscitation, surf safety and confidence in the water To be competent, safe & skilled in the surf environment. To enjoy surf competitions, teamwork & sportsmanship To enjoy a fit and healthy lifestyle. Have fun and enjoy coming to the beach each week

Water Safety Is Our Priority We need to aim for a 3:1 Water Safety ratio for our Nippers when they enter the surf, and we need to make sure we have enough Water Safety to provide the right tuition and care. Count all the kids at the start of a swim / board race, and count them in as they finish.very important.

No Cap Or Rashie = No Nippers Nippers MUST wear their Age Cap on the beach, plus their Pink Rashie in the water. No Nipper can enter the water unless directed by their Age Manager / Assistant AM Nipper parents are encouraged to enforce these rules

Emergency Response Water Safety ONLY in the Water, under the direction of the Patrol Captain / Head of Water Safety Age Managers to direct ALL Nippers and Parents to the back wall of the Beach for a roll call We don t want Nippers or Parents watching if there is an incident in the water Emerging exercise planned before Christmas

Expectations Lifesavers & coaches will assist in the conduct & training of events. During Nippers, a parent or guardian is required to be at/on the beach at all times. Nippers is not a childminding service. At the conclusion of events once a Nipper is signed out and with their parent, they must remove their Nipper cap so we know they are now under parental supervision.
