Jack Rolling Skill Objective: Deliver four jacks (One jack to each target) Requirements: Four (4) jacks Four (4) discs or markers Procedure: Place one disc on the T Place second disc 2 meters short of T Place third disc 4 meters short of T Place fourth disc on minimum length Mat always positioned on the T. Repeat drill in other direction

Draw 4 Lengths Skill Objective: Draw close as possible to each length jack. Requirements: Four (4) jacks Procedure: Place one jack on the T Place second jack 2 meters short of T Place third jack 4 meters short of T Place fourth jack on minimum length Play four bowls forehand in one direction to each jack Play four bowls backhand in one direction to each jack Mat always positioned on the T. Once completed one direction then complete in opposite direction

Draw Between Skill Objective: Draw close as possible to jack, through gap whilst maintaining good line and length. Requirements: One (1) jack Two (2) bowls Procedure: Place jack on the T Place one target bowl 2 mat lengths short and ¾ mat length wide of jack. Place other target bowl 1 ½ mat lengths wide of first target bowl. Play forehand in one direction and backhand in other direction Play Short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Shot Drawing Skill Objective: Draw close as possible to jack around short bowls Requirements: One (1) jack Three (3) bowls Procedure: Place one jack on the T Place three short bowls two mat lengths short of jack Draw around short bowls Two bowls forehand and two bowls backhand Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Positional Draw Skill Objective: Draw close as possible to positional bowls behind jack Requirements: One (1) jack Two (2) bowls Procedure: Place two positional bowls on T Place one jack two mat lengths short of bowls Draw two bowls forehand and two bowls backhand Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Shot & Position Skill Objective: Draw close as possible to jack, then draw close as possible to positional bowls behind jack Requirements: One (1) jack Two (2) bowls Procedure: Place two positional bowls on T Place jack two mat lengths short of bowls Draw one bowl forehand to jack then one bowl forehand to bowls Draw one bowl backhand to jack then one bowl backhand to bowls Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Off Centre Draw Skill Objective: Draw close as possible to both jacks off centre position Requirements: Two (2) jacks Procedure: Place one jack two mat lengths to the right side of the T Place second jack two mat lengths to the left side of the T Draw two bowls forehand to the right jack Draw two bowls backhand to the left jack Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction (Make drill harder by playing two bowls forehand to left jack and two bowls backhand to right jack)

Shot & Off Centre Position Skill Objective: Draw close as possible to centre jack then to off centre positional jack Requirements: Three (3) jacks Procedure: Place one jack two mat lengths to the right side of the T Place second jack two mats lengths to the left side of the T Place third jack two mat lengths short of T Draw one bowl forehand to centre jack then one bowl forehand to right jack Then draw one bowl backhand to centre jack then one bowl backhand to left jack. Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Ditch Drawing Skill Objective: Draw close to the ditch as possible without losing bowl Requirements: One (1) jack marker Procedure: Short end: Place mat two meters from minimum marker Medium end: Place mat in middle between short and long ends Long end: Place mat on T Play two bowls forehand and two bowls backhand Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Objective: Draw Shot & Ditch Draw Skill Draw close to jack as possible then draw close to the ditch as possible without losing bowl Requirements: One (1) jack One (1) jack marker Procedure: Place jack marker on bank Place jack on T Draw one bowl forehand to jack then one bowl forehand to ditch Draw one bowl backhand to jack then one bowl backhand to ditch Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Conversion Skill Objective: Play through target whilst controlling weight and remaining on the green (in scoring zone). Requirements: Two (2) discs or markers Procedure: Play two bowls forehand then two bowls backhand over short, medium and long ends Short end: Mat two meters from minimum marker Medium end: Mat between short and long ends Long end: Mat on T Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Running Skill Objective: Hit target with controlled weight, whilst missing obstacle Requirements: Two (2) discs or markers Four (4) mats Procedure: Disc or markers T Play two bowls forehand and two bowls backhand as running shots Short end: one mat blocking straight drive Medium end: one and half mats blocking straight drive Long end: two mats blocking straight drive Bowl must finish in ditch Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Driving Skill Objective: Develops the ability to consistently hit a target area in a competitive state of mind Requirements: Two (2) mats Procedure: Mats on T as shown Play four bowls forehand at each length Play four bowls backhand at each length Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Draw & Swing Skill Objective: Draw close as possible to jack then swing through target avoiding first bowl obstacle Requirements: Two (2) mats One (1) jack Procedure: Place mats on T as shown Place jack on minimum length Draw one bowl forehand to jack then swing weight one bowl forehand through target avoiding obstacles Draw one bowl backhand to jack then swing weight one bowl backhand through target avoiding obstacles Play various lengths as per a match situation Repeat drill in other direction

Drive & Draw Skill Objective: Drive through target then draw close to ditch as possible without losing bowl. Requirements: Two (2) mats One (1) jack marker Procedure: Mats on T Play one bowl forehand drive and then play one bowl forehand draw Play one bowl backhand drive and then play one bowl backhand draw Play short, medium and long ends Repeat drill in other direction

Perfect End Drill Objective: Draw close to each jack then conversion shot while in a competition mindset. See how many perfect ends you can score in ten ends and record score. Make sure one jack is long in length. Roll first jack: Play your first bowl to jack where it finished. Bowl to finish within one mat length. Roll second jack: Play your second bowl to jack where it finished. Bowl to finish within one mat length. Roll third jack: Play your third bowl to jack where it finished. Bowl to finish within one mat length. Fourth bowl: This is a conversion shot or a drive (you pick your weight to play). Pick one of the three jacks and bowls delivered and play conversion to remove either jack or bowl. Successfully hitting jack or bowl this counts as a Perfect End. Note: Playing bowls can be either forehand or backhand. If bowl doesn t finish within mat length, roll another bowl to finish within mat length to same jack. Only play two bowls at one jack. Roll another jack and play bowl to get bowl within mat length. Once three jacks and four bowls delivered end is completed and start next end in other direction and repeat the drill. Drill to be played over 10ends. Scoring one point for each perfect end completed successfully.

Singles game drill Objective: This training drill enables you playing a singles game against yourself Vary the opposition bowls position each end and vary the end length as per a match situation This drill enhances your shot selection and drawing ability in a game situation This drill will give you a purpose when training but also help your mind set to play a shot in game situations and playing conditions Requirements: Two (2) Jacks Two (2) old set of bowls Score Card to record your score and opponents score Mat Bowls Measure Procedure: Place the bowls around the jack like a singles game These bowls should be one mat length away from jack Deliver your four bowls to score a single shot or multiple shots Each bowl inside your opponents bowl counts as a score as per a normal game situation If you don t beat your opponents bowls your opponent scores the amount of shots before your closest bowl as per a game situation If you turn your opponents bowl it stays there for the rest of the end Your next shot as always is important as it could be a conversion shot to retrieve shot for your score Be prepared to do only one shot and not multiple shots The game can be scored up to 21 shots or play as sets play (9 end sets) Compare your score to previous scores Play short, medium and long ends
