Welcome to the 2016 golf season at Elbow Springs Golf Club! This handbook has been designed to help explain the details of the Elbow Springs Tigers Junior Golf Program. I will be developing a junior program communication board, social media page(s) and regular communication through updates and report cards for each junior golfer. Registration for all programs is first-come, first-served, and registration priority for some events is given to juniors enrolled in membership categories and the sponsored junior program. There will be a Junior Golf orientation in March (date/time TBA), which is open to Junior members and non-members and their parents. Please keep an eye on your email for updates. The PGA of Canada Golf Professionals and staff at Elbow Springs GC welcome your feedback and are here to answer any questions you may have about the Junior Golf Program. I look forward to meeting you and your junior golfer soon! Sincerely, Cameron Fawns Junior Program Leader PGA of Canada Golf Professional
Vision for Junior Golf at Elbow Springs Golf Club I feel incredibly lucky to have been introduced to the great game of golf. The skills I ve learned and developed, the experiences I ve had and the people I ve met on my journey are beyond value and will never be forgotten. It is an honor to now be in a position to be able to give back by helping teach and grow the next generation of golfers. Junior golfers should be the focus of any healthy golf club. They should be nurtured and allowed to play. The golf course, practice areas and instruction should be affordable and always accessible to them. Without the happy, healthy and confident junior golfer the game of golf has no future. My vision for the Junior Golf Program at Elbow Springs is one that promotes a fun, safe and positive learning environment for all boys and girls interested in learning how to play golf. It will encourage fun, healthy competition, empathy, creativity, exploration through practice, and learning through play. Core values of the Junior Program and important life-enhancing traits that your child will learn through golf are Honesty, Integrity, Respect, Courtesy, Fairness, Sportsmanship, Fellowship, Friendship and Companionship, Confidence and Belief, Responsibility, Perseverance, Judgement, Trust and Instinct, Self Awareness, Striving to be Better, Learning through Failure, and Character Development. My aim is to have the Elbow Springs Golf Club Junior Program recognized by Golf Canada as a National Junior Golf Development Centre by 2019.
