We (Gene and I) have not been on top of getting out the Newsletter the last couple of months. Things just seemed to keep happening in our lives that pushed the Newsletter to the back burner. I m sure you all understand how that happens. So, our apologies and here we go 2018. A few of your Chapter Team members met to discuss the Calendar for this year and to review your suggestions for rides and events. The whole Chapter Team reviewed the calendar and we have put together a variety of fun things to participate in this year. We will be getting the calendar out to everyone shortly. We do our best to stick with the long weekend, weekend or weeklong trip dates so you can plan for vacation time as necessary. Some of the day rides are a more flexible and we always try to fit in impromptu rides when the weather cooperates during the good riding months. We always love suggestions for rides and activities. Have you thought about something fun for the group to do? Just send us and email or give us a call. Your ideas are appreciated! Have you made your reservations for Spring Fling yet? We are looking forward some fun the first weekend in March. We have a free registration to be given to one of our chapter attendees. Maybe it will be you! Special thanks to our 2018 Chapter Team for your commitment to Chapter O! It s going to be a good year! Gene and Karen Kaufmann
More From the Back Seat WELCOME We are pleased to welcome Michael and Tammy Alexander to GWRRA and Chapter O. We are looking forward to getting to know Michael and Tammy and to experiencing some great rides together. MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT Do you have a favorite restaurant that you would like to share with us? We are looking for restaurants to add to our list for our evening out each month. If your restaurant is chosen and you attend, dessert is on us! Submit your favorite restaurant at our next gathering. THANK YOU Our thanks to everyone who has donated items to our attendance prize box. If you have items you would like to donate just bring them to the Chapter Gathering and give them to Nancy. Thank you Nancy and Harry for putting together the prize bags each month! CHAPTER O ON FACEBOOK Don t forget to join our Chapter O Facebook group for information, reminders, pictures and other interesting items shared by the Chapter and our members. It s a good way to keep in touch and to post pictures of trips without worrying about the pictures going out to the public when you re away. The group is closed so only Chapter O members or close friends see our posts. On Facebook search GWRRA Chapter O Missouri and ask to join.
In Remembrance of Harry Carrigan March 25, 1939 December 18, 2017 This is our first Newsletter since we said goodbye to Harry. It s still so hard to believe that he will not be making wise cracks at the gatherings, he won t be teasing about something, he won t be riding along with us in his khakis and loafers and he won t be enjoying that Bloody Mary. He was so much fun and he will be missed. Please continue to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers this year. We can only imagine what heartache they are going through. Harry s loss emphasizes the wonderful gift we have in the friendships made through the years in Chapter O and GWRRA. We appreciate each of you and hope we never take that friendship for granted.

POLAR BEAR RIDE, JANUARY 1, 2018 What a fun way to start the New Year. Twenty three of us arrived at J.J s in O fallon to welcome in the New Year. Five brave souls decided to arrive by motorcycle on the bright, sunny and very cold day. Bragging rights go to James, Dave, Vern, Jim and Gene. Or as I like to call it, the You re Nut s award. We had a great lunch and we are off to a good start in 2018! CHAPTER P FISH FRY, SATURDAY, JANUARY 27, 2018 Another great event to start the New Year is the Annual Chapter P Fish Fry in Sullivan, Mo. It s always nice to support our sister Chapters and this was no exception. Eight of us enjoyed the fish dinner and the games and prizes. Joe was the big 50/50 winner and several of us won door prizes. We also had time to visit with our newest perspective members, Michael and Tammy. Thank you Chapter P for a great event.

TRAVEL TIPS FROM FROM CHAPTER O Each month we will include a travel tip or two from your fellow members. These are things your fellow travelers have learned over the years to make life easier on the road. Do you have a favorite tip? Do you have an item you always make sure you have with you? These can be travel tips for the motorcycle or car or RV. Let us know your special tip! Send Karen an email. Tip of the Month: Buy a half cover and bring it on trips to cover your bike at night. Keeps gawkers away. Keeps the seat dry. (See Jim Ryan for another way a half cover can help our furry friends.) Yes I know, it's not a BLACK BIKE Safe Riding! Dave Senior, Rider Educator
