From the Bridge A Message from the Captain A big thank you to about 40 of our RiverTowne members who had their Safety Inspection by the Coast Guard Auxiliary on Saturday the 23rd of May. The CG was very happy with the turn out, as were we. As is typical for RiverTowne Members, they also were very impressed with the knowledge, equipment and courtesy of the RTM boaters!!! We always like to start the year with all of the proper safety equipment: (Working horns, blowers, nav lights, pfd's, registration, etc.) How many of you have seen the new fuel dock and concession stand which we hope to have ready by July?? This Antique Stern Wheeler is being renovated by a local group to serve as the new fuel dock and tiki bar (taking the place of the old "Screaming Red Head" which was docked outside RTM for many years.) The Stern Wheeler 'AttaBoy' used to push the Showboat Majestic (which is on the National List of Historic Places) from port to port. River Gypsy Charters at RiverTowne will soon be offering small private charters and water taxi services with Licensed Coast Guard Captains. This will be an ideal way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, girls night out, trip to RiverBend Concerts, etc. Cruises are limited to 6 paying passengers. They will provide water and soft drinks, however, the Charter Passengers can BYOB from the Jennie Wade Concession Stand. SLOW NO WAKE!
A reminder to everyone that the marina is a SLOW NO WAKE zone. Boaters are responsible for damage caused by their wake. We have had several recent complaints from members concerning the large wake from other members boats, especially as they reenter the harbor from the river. Remember, your wake follows you into the harbor, so please slow down well before entering the marina. The crew has been hard at work. We are expanding the pool deck, and we're in the process of acquiring the permits for a Members only private Safety near the Jennie Wade We have invested in speed- bumps near the Jenny Wade Concession...our Valets have often expressed concerns about the speed of automobiles entering the congested area near the launch ramp. We have also installed a cross walk from the Valet Stand to the Jenny Wade parking lot. We recognize everyone is excited to get to their boat, but we are asking you to slow-down, stay alert, and arrive safely! No Swimming! Warning! Electrical currents may be present in the water. These electrical currents can be harmful or lethal. Learn More Here More Fun in the Sun! Members Pool
