UREC Intramural Policies and Information
What is UREC? UREC Mission Statement: We are the playground for ASU students developing strength in body, mind and character. What is Intramurals? We offer the opportunity for students to compete against their peers in a friendly and structured environment.
UREC Policies/Procedures Your participation in Intramural Sports is voluntary and at your own risk. Policies were created for the safety and fairness of participation. Any questions, comments, or concerns can be discussed at the UREC offices, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
What is Sportsmanship? Sportsmanship is defined as, interacting positively with all individuals (players, officials, staff & spectators) to promote a safe and fun environment to participate.
Sportsmanship 4 Excellent Sportsmanship and Conduct: The team and spectators participate in the spirit and intent of the Intramural Sports program and University Recreation. This includes teams that support every policy enforced by staff and accept the judgment decisions made by officials and/or staff. 3 Acceptable Sportsmanship and Conduct: The team and spectators display behavior which is adequate for competition and fair play. This includes teams that use no vulgar language or gestures and teams that cooperate reasonably and rationally with staff. 2 Sportsmanship and Conduct Needs Improvement: The team and/or spectators display behavior which is negative and takes away from the goal of the Intramural Sports program. This includes teams that default a game (including advanced defaults) and teams that have a player ejected because of a technical rule. 1 Unacceptable Sportsmanship and Conduct: The team and/or spectators display behavior which is in contradiction of the mission and purpose of the Intramural Sports program and University Recreation. This includes teams that have a player ejected for unsporting behavior and teams that play with ineligible players. 0 Prohibited Conduct: The team and/or spectators conduct themselves in an unsafe and counterproductive demeanor which could put themselves, other participants and UREC staff in dangerous situations. This includes any threatening behavior, any team that forfeits a scheduled contest, and any person who physically assaults any other person. Must have a 2.5 season average to be eligible for playoffs
Player Eligibility 1. Participants must be a full time student or full time faculty/staff member. They must be able to present a valid ASU ID every time they participate. 2. May only play on ONE Men s/women s/open & ONE Co-Rec team across each league. Once they check in for one team, they are bound to that team for the rest of the season. 3. Ineligible players will result in a FORFEIT and a loss for the team. 4. All other eligibility information can be found in the Intramural Handbook at www.imsports.appstate.edu.
Intramural Team Captain s Responsibilities Summary: Official liaison between team and the IM Sports Office. Captain s Duties: Player Eligibility Communicating rules/policies to team Positive influence of player conduct Inform team members of days/times of games Ensuring roster/record accuracy *Additional duties/responsibilities can be found in IM Handbook: www.imsports.appstate.edu
Schedule Information Game Location: Any available court at ASU Rivers Street Tennis Courts or Stadium Tennis Courts. Game Schedule: You schedule your own games and may play multiple games per week. There will also be a hard copy at the SRC posted on the bulletin board in the main hallway. Check it out while you are there! Games start ASAP!
How to Complete Registration for IM Tennis You MUST sign an Participant Agreement and Waiver, and turn it in by 5:00 PM September, 9 th 2015 to complete your registration & be scheduled. Hard copy can be found online at www.imsports.appstate.edu OR at the IM Sports Office in the Student Recreation Center.
Proper IM Game Attire - Participants must wear closed toed/heeled athletic shoes. - Participants are not permitted to wear the following: Jewelry Hard-billed hats Bandanas Knots in shirts or jerseys
How the Brackets Work There must be 4 teams in each division registered to play Single/Double elimination tournament. Winner receives a IM Championship T-Shirt Your team must play at least 2 games to win the bracket and be eligible for a IM Championships T-shirt The winner must report each score by email
How to Read the Bracket Teams/people playing each other Date/Time scores are due to the IM Sports email: imsports@appstate.edu
How to email in your score Winner of the match must email Tyler Tuminski by 9:00 am the morning after the match with the scores. (imsports@appstate.edu) The subject line of the email must contain the words Tennis and Scores CC to the opposing team s captain. Discrepancies must be addressed within 24 hours by email

Tennis Rules ASU IM Tennis Rules are linked to the website. Any adaptions to the rules must be agreed upon by both parties. If both parties cannot agree to rule adaptations, then both will play by the ASU IM Tennis Rules found on the website: www.imsports.appstate.edu
