Friday 1 & Saturday 2 December, 2017 RACING INFORMATION FOR OWNERS AND TRAINERS SINCE 1957 01635 40015 newburyracecourse.co.uk
INTRODUCING THE LADBROKES WINTER CARNIVAL FEATURING THE LADBROKES TROPHY 2017 Another Jumps season will soon be underway at Newbury Racecourse and this year we are particularly looking forward to it with great anticipation, not least because of our partnership with Ladbrokes. The inaugural Ladbrokes Winter Carnival will take place on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 December, featuring the Ladbrokes Trophy, formerly the famed Hennessy Gold Cup. Our partnership has meant that prize money for the two-day meeting is an impressive 700,000 with the much-loved feature race now worth 250,000. Since the race was first run as the Hennessy Gold Cup in 1957, it has become one of the major highlights of the National Hunt season with most stunning performances over the last 60 years from the likes of Mill House, Arkle, Denman and the late Many Clouds. We are also delighted to rename the Worcester Novices Chase in honour of John Francome MBE. The Grade 2 race will be now be known as the Ladbrokes John Francome Novices Chase and will form part of Saturday s card. At Newbury, we are extremely committed to ensuring the very best facilities and experience for all horsemen and horses and are currently nearing completion of the second phase of our 20 million-pound redevelopment. This will see a new stateof-the-art Owners and Trainers facility open at the start of the Jumps season. A re-modelled pre-parade ring was opened earlier this year and has been positively received along with the 36-bedroom hotel (The Lodge) for stable staff. Together with Ladbrokes as part of a fiveyear deal, we plan to grow this two-day meeting to ensure the most competitive racing possible. We hope you will consider running one or more of your horses at Newbury and wish you the very best for the season ahead.
