The Isle of Wight has 15 years of heritage in hosting Extreme Sports Festivals. Big Blue Festival is the breakthrough extreme sports festival in the UK boasting the UK s biggest freesports park, sports in land, sea and air combined with the party atmosphere you would expect from an Isle of Wight Festival Over 20 extreme sports Big Blue accommodates over 20 extreme sports with events on water, land, air and beach, and music to chill out to on the green The Big Blue Freesports Park The Big Blue Freesports Park provides a dramatic festival centrepiece, covering multiple extreme sports with professional displays and competitions in everything from BMX and Skateboard, to Beat Box, Graffiti Jams and Park DJs For those want to get interactive Play gives the public the chance to have a go and taste the sports! Big Blue = Action Sports At Big Blue 2010 a range of around 20 different action sports and activities will be taking place on LAND, SEA and AIR: Professional demonstrations and displays Competitions running throughout the weekend eg South Coast Surfing Championships, British Paddle Board championships PLAY where the public get involved Visitors can try each sport on offer, under professional supervision of course! Professionals will be demonstrating mountain boarding and Parkour, but mere mortals are encouraged to have a go too! The Sunday Times, 2009

Extreme Mile A concept developed to involve mass participation over the weekend In aid of the Ellen MacArthur Trust an Isle of Wight resident charity Fully backed and promoted by the Ellen MacArthur Trust An opportunity for all ages to take part in an exciting charity challenge on water or land The Water Mile Open water swim, Paddle boards, Kayak, Windsurf, Kite Surf (by invitation only) The Land Mile Beachdash and Tidesprint. Visually will look great with adults and kids running it, and allows everyone to do something that is slightly more out of the ordinary than a walk along the road The Assault Mile An assault course around the top field of the Festival site that is a mile distance. suitable for children and adults.
