Monday, June 11 COCA Welcome Social 7PM, DJ Purdy s Lounge, Delta Fredericton Pre-Conference Activities Get ready for real fish n chips matey! Welcome to the East Coast! Welcome home. We know that no one likes to arrive for a conference and not know anyone. So we re making sure there are plenty of moments to easily meet other students and staff from across the country. And it s all starting with our pre-conference social. For those delegates arriving or looking for a reason to arrive early for #COCA2018, on Monday, June 11th we will be having a pre-conference social in the early evening to help you meet other delegates or re-connect with old friends. Before you book your travel arrangements consider arriving early to get the full conference experience. We can t wait to host the rest of Canada this June in Fredericton, NB and share our east coast hospitality with you. Tuesday, June 12 Daytime Activities Guided Heritage Walking Tour (FREE) Tours start at City Hall, approx time 1 hour Start time: 10am or 2:30pm Get to know the history and folklore of Fredericton s most historic sites as you stroll through the downtown with a costumed guide. You never know what this building or that site was used for back in the day! Three different tours offered daily. Beaverbrook Art Gallery Tour Open 10am - 5pm Admission: $10 adult, $8 senior, Student $5 The Beaverbrook Art Gallery, a gift to the people of New Brunswick from Lord Beaverbrook (Sir Maxwell Aitken), features works by Canadian and British artists and a unique sample of works from international artists. The Gallery exhibits an exciting mix of works from its own collection as well as works and exhibitions on loan from other institutions. Sites Around the City We will also be providing delegates with a listing of local attractions and interests to take in including local Craft Beer and Cider, parks and shopping. Run for the COCA Board of Directors! Enhance your professional skills and build a stronger resume by becoming a Regional Director with COCA. Each year at the national conference COCA holds elections to fill any vacant or open directpr positions in the eastern, central and western regions. 2 seats are available per region. Any student or staff of a member school with the consent of their organization may run for a seat on the COCA board. Regional Directors are a direct support to their region, and: - Sit on board and conference committees - Help organize the national conference - Work with the rest of the board to make changes to the organization - Communicate interests of the board to the regional membership and regional membership interests to the board - Foster communication between members within their Region - Facilitate regional meetings - Promote COCA to members and non-members within the Region (both Schools and Associate members) - Foster and promote cross-campus activities - Foster Regional block buying - Attend COCA Board of Directors meetings - Keep member schools within the Region updated on COCA activities Help us forge the path to our future and build a better, bigger COCA by running for a board position at the national conference. THE COCA SWEATSHIRT & SWAG AUCTION Making its triumphant and re-invented return to the 2018 COCA National Conference - The COCA Sweatshirt & SWAG Auction! Schools and associate members are invited to bring sweatshirts and swag items to the national conference to dnate to a conference long silent auction. All donated items will be on display during the conference and you can bid on any item you d like. Then on the last day after a last minute blitz, the auction will close. If you re the last bidder...the item is yours. Start planning on what to bring for the auction now! Bragging rights for the best donated sweatshirt and swag item. Show us your coolest gear. COCA SCHOOL MARKETING GALLERY Hey Canadian colleges and universities! We want to highlight your creativity this year with our very own digital POSTER GALLERY. We want to showcase the creative promotion of your events, campaigns, announcements...whatever! If it s cool, hip and creative, we want to display it. Send us a jpeg copy of your posters throughout the year and we ll add them to a digital gallery we ll create on the COCA Facebook Page. Then at the 2018 COCA National Conference we ll feature your schools creativity in our poster gallery inside the hotel. With the help of a panel of judges we ll also announce the top 3 designs at the National Conference Awards Banquet. There s no restriction to how many posters a school can submit or for what the poster is for. If you ve got a creative job announcement poster...we want to see it! Additionally, posters can be any size and can include flyers, postcards or banners. So send us your creatives COCA so we can show the rest of Canada just how talented our schools are.
