St. Patrick s Parish School The educational ministry of St Michael s Parish in Trundle 1 Austin St., Trundle NSW 2875 Ph. 02 68921073 Fax. 02 68921020 St. Patrick s School is a welcoming Catholic Educational Community that celebrates the individuality of each of its members and fosters in our students the courage to know, seek and live the truth as global citizens. In partnership with parents and the Parish Community, we offer Jesus as the model and means of life. Term 2, Week 3, 07/05/12 Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen From the Principal: Dear Parents and Friends, There are many congratulations and thankyous to say this week. Congratulations to the students and teachers for their wonderful contribution to Catholic Schools Week. Anyone who was at Mass on Thursday morning, visited the classrooms on Thursday or attended Mass on Sunday morning would have been very impressed with our students and teachers and the wonderful learning which takes place at St Patrick s School. Thankyou to all the parents and friends of St Patrick s School who visited the school on Thursday for morning tea and Assembly and the open classrooms. Your interest and support is what makes our school community so wonderful. Special congratulations to Kristen Grady who is the recipient of the 2012 Catherine McAuley Award. Kristen is a wonderful example of the values Catherine McAuley aspired to, showing care and respect for everyone she comes in contact with. Our school community is very proud of Kristen. At Mass on Thursday morning Fr Gunn spoke of the importance of the link between our school and the parish. As he explained, Catholic schools exist to support families who are involved in the Parish to educate their children according to the Gospel Values and the teachings of Jesus. Catholic schools only exist where there is a vibrant parish. Catholic Schools do not replace the church and the commitment of parents to the Parish is very important. COMMUNITY NOTES Trundle Junior League News for games played on 5th May TRUNDLE JUNIOR LEAGUE TAG Trundle Junior Girls played against Grenfell at Parkes this weekend. This was their second game of the season. The girls organised themselves well with Paris Curr taking the full back position and covering any loose ball or opposition. Hannah Dunn took the wing position and organised the younger girls inside her. Hannah was great in defence and had some good runs. The older girls including (Montana Eyre, Lucy Aveyard and Mikala McLean) kept the game flowing and organised the ball runners, this is an area we need to keep working on. Charlotte Friend went well with her defence and also had some good runs and is improving in each game. McKenzie Horsburgh and Isabel Aveyard went well largely assisted, being shown the ropes by the big girls. Grenfell supplied a player, Tannie who also went well. Tries: Montana 2 and Paris 1. Final Score - 3 all. Thank you to Grenfell for organising the game. Thanks to all helpers. There may be a carnival at Grenfell this week end with Grenfell and West Wyalong playing. Alex and Dol can provide some transport, we will need some other transport also. Any Seniors who register are most welcome to come to as both Grenfell and West Wyalong have plenty of players to assist with a team. Training as usual on Thursday. Alex and Boyd Aveyard Under 10's against Parkes White Who would have thought with only 7 players (about half who haven't played before) we'd come up with a win!!! Parkes showed great sportsmanship and gave us 4 players, but it was our players who put most of the points on the board. Darcy and Tom both put in solid games, scoring 2 tries each. Brandon had a blinder and came away with his first try - as well as some solid defence including a bone-shaker on the biggest bloke on the field. Nathan was solid in defence and reliable at dummy half as well as showing some promising flair in attack. Will made a few more solid runs this week. Isaiah is gradually gaining confidence to back himself. Sky was as solid as ever all over the ground and got oh-so-close to the try line! Simeon is off visiting his grand-parents in SA and got along to footy training (aussie rules), so we hope he doesn't come back with any bad habits! Darcy topped off a solid game with a try right on the hooter to level the scores. The kick was left to one of our Parkes recruits, who converted to give us the win 26-24. I'm guessing he wasn't the most popular bloke in the Parkes dressing shed after the game! Thanks to Parkes White for great sportsmanship and a good contest. Thanks to Geoff for coaching this week.
We're not a team of stars, but it's great to see everyone working together to give it their best shot and see improvement every week. Pete K. Trundle Services Club U /12's travelled to Parkes to play Parkes White on cool Saturday morning.trundle did not start well and were down 4 tries and 0-16 at half time and were lucky at that.the second half started with a bit more effort before the game was abandoned due to a Parkes player suffering suspected spinal injury.we do hope he is OK. Boys there is a lot of work to do on that effort and we will require all at training this week before 2 hard games coming up, Peak Hill guys excepted. Best defenders were again the same boys Will, Sam, Andrew & Tom.We did gain some metres in attack with Will, Luke, Tom, Andrew & Harry giving us some momentum.thanks to Matt, Paul S, Paul C for helping and congrats to the 10's for their 1st win.
