Home of the Diamonds Where Every Athlete is a Treasure ATLANTA CHEER ACADEMY 2018-2019 ALL-STAR CHEER PARENT HANDBOOK AND TRY-OUT INFORMATION Thank you for your interest in the Atlanta Cheer Academy All-Star Cheer Program. ACA was established in 2017. We started by offering low-cost mobile tumbling classes throughout the Metro-Atlanta Area. This is our Inaugural All-Star Season! Try-Outs / Team Placements are open to ages 4-18 All Skill Levels. Team Placements are low-stress workouts. During team placements, athletes will demonstrate skills they have already developed and demonstrate the potential to learn new skills. Team placements take place over multiple days. After the final session of try-outs, the ACA staff will assemble team rosters for the upcoming season. ALL ATHLETES WILL MAKE A TEAM! Parents will receive an email with your child s team placement and summer practice schedule by Monday May 7 th. Practices will begin mid-may and continue through the following April. Competitions are tentative to begin in November 2018 April 2019. You will receive a finalize competition schedule by the end of June.
TRYOUT SCHEDULE: April 28 th 2PM Open House/ Interest Meeting Stop by for an opportunity to view our facility, meet and greet with the training staff, and a Interest Meeting/Q&A. April 30 th, May 2, and May 4 th 6PM-8PM Tryout Clinic (included in Tryout Fee All Athletes are STRONGLY SUGGESTED to Attend the Tryout Clinic. Athletes must wear black tops, black shorts or leggings, and a bow. May 5 th Tryout Day. Ages 4-6 10am-12pm; Ages 7-11 12PM-2PM; Ages 12 and up 2PM-4PM. Try-Out Attire: All Black (tank, t-shirt or sports bra, shorts, leggings, athletic sneakers and bow) May 7 th Team Placements announced via Email THERE IS A $25 TRYOUT FEE All Parents and Athletes will return to the gym on May 15th for a Parent Meeting to go over practice schedules, rules and expectation, and uniform fitting. The $150 Commitment Fee is Due at this time! PROGRAM FEES: Atlanta Cheer Diamonds is a YEAR- ROUND PROGRAM. Competitive Cheer, while not as costly as some youth activities, can still be expensive. Before considering this program or any other program please consider the financial commitment. We have a comprehensive Monthly price that covers most of the expenses throughout the year. ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE! Fees DO NOT include travel accommodations, meals, activities, parent s admission to competition, spirit gifts/gift bags for the athletes, team bonding activities, etc. Commitment Fee- Due at First Parent Meeting on May 15 th : $150. This fee includes USASF Athlete Registration Fee, Insurance, t-shirt, and 1 Practice Wear. New Athletes - $25 Annual Registration Fee Monthly Tuition: $100/Month May 2018 - March 2019 (Total: $1,100) Monthly Payments include: 2 weekly practices, UNLIMITED Tumbling Classes, Coaches Fees, and Building/Equipment Expenses. Monthly tuition fees will be automatically drafted on the 25 th for the following month. (i.e. June s Tuition will be automatically drafted on May 25 th ). Each Additional Sibling will receive a 15% discount. All-Star Fee: $150/Month June 2018 -February 2019 (Total: $1,350) All-Star Fees will be automatically drafted on the 15 th of the Month. All Star Fees include: Competition Uniform, Additional Practice Wear, Competition Bow, Make-Up Kit, Shoes, Warm-Up Suit, Bookbag, Booster Club Fee, Choreography Fee, Music and
Licensing Fee, and Competition Registration Fees (8 competitions). NO SIBLING DISCOUNT ON ALL-STAR FEES. FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR STAFF, ATHLETES, AND FAMILY MEMBERS, ATLANTA CHEER ACADEMY WILL NOT ACCEPT CASH PAYMENTS FOR TUITION OR ALL-STAR FEES. ALL FAMILIES ARE REQUIRED TO KEEP A CREDIT CARD ON FILE. IT IS THE PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO LET US KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY CHANGES TO BILLING INFORMATION. TOTAL: $2,600 (Plus $25 New Athletes) ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE! Tiny Prep Exhibition Team: Ages 4-6. This is for our younger athletes who are not quite ready for the full all-star experience. Tiny Team will practice 1x a week and are still offered UNLIMITED Tumbling. Tiny Team will only compete in 5 competitions the majority of which are in Atlanta, Louisville, and the end of the season beach competition to Destin/Fort Walton or Myrtle Beach. Tuition: $75 a month All-Star Fees: $130 a month The athletes on Tiny Prep receive the same items mentioned above. ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE! April 27 th Eastern Cheer and Dance Beach Bash National Championship (Myrtle Beach SC) ***1 Week prior to all out of town competitions (3 hours or more away) parents are required to inform us of all travel arrangements (method of transportation, hotel reservation, date/time of arrival). Fundraiser Opportunities: While we aim to make our program as affordable as possible, we understand that the fees of this sport can still be very expensive for many families. To assist with the cost, we will offer Fundraisers every other month! Fundraisers can be used to pay Tuition and/or All-Star Fees. Please be advised if you ever fall behind on payments Tuition will be taken out of any fundraiser funds before the remaining funds can be applied to All-Star Fees. Sample Fundraisers: Krispy Kreme, Double Good Popcorn, Bath Bombs, Scratch Off Cards, Sponsor My Uniform, Yankee Candle, and more. Atlanta Cheer Cares, Inc Our booster club and community outreach aims to raise funds to help subsidize building costs, safety training for coaches, and provide financial assistance to families in need and if funds allow, provide scholarships to deserving athletes. Atlanta Cheer Care s is funded by donations, sponsors and a portion of all athlete all-star fees. Atlanta Cheer Care s Inc is a 501c(3). All contributions are tax-deductible. Athletes will be required to participate in at least 1 Atlanta Cheer Cares Charity Event and 1 Atlanta Cheer Cares Community Service Event per Season. Please let us know if your employer or business is interested in becoming a corporate sponsor. Attendance Policy Athletes are allowed up to 4 absences during the months of May September 3 (Labor Day Weekend). After September 3 rd and continuing through April, athletes are allowed 3 absences. Beginning September 4 th Absences Request Forms must be submitted 1 week prior to the absence. These forms/absences are to be used for: school events, family events, etc. Absences are NOT allowed the weekend and week before a competition/performance. An unexcused absence may result in the athlete being moved to an alternate position or pulled from an upcoming performance at the discretion of the staff.
Illness/Injury Policy Unless you are contagious, you MUST attend practice. You will not be required to participate; however, you must be present to observe the practice. Illnesses such as Flu, Mono, Strep Throat, Asthma, Upper Respiratory Infection etc require Doctor s Notes in order to be excused. It is the athlete s responsibility to learn any choreography changes made while they are absent or sick. Excessive absences due to extended illnesses such as Flu, Mono, Strep may jeopardize an athlete s participation in an upcoming event. In order to prevent spreading illnesses/germs please encourage frequent hand washing, covering of the mouth, dressing weather appropriate, not sharing water bottles, etc. We will also do our part by sanitizing equipment on a weekly basis. All injured/sick athletes are still responsible for all fees. Team Practices Rules All practices are closed to other athletes, parents, family members, friends and athletes from other cheer programs. There is to be NO JEWELRY worn at practices, which includes all earrings, necklaces, rings, belly rings, etc. This is not only for appearances but also for the safety to the one wearing the jewelry and for those teammates basing or flying who might be injured as a result. ALL CELL PHONES should be turned off and left in cubbies during practices. Atlanta Cheer Academy LLC is not liable for any lost, misplaced, or stolen jewelry or phones. Practice attire must be worn as scheduled on weekly calendars. Lost, misplaced or damaged clothing will be replaced at your expense. Hair must be pulled up off the shoulders. Practice bows are a part of the practice uniform. Soft-soled sneakers are required. Once cheer sneakers are ordered, athletes are required to wear these sneakers to practice. Anyone more than 5 minutes late or dressed incorrectly will condition after practice. Please remember we are not only coaching winning teams, we are also teaching life lessons such as accountability and responsibility. Athlete and Parent Code of Conduct Diamond Athletes must at all times be a strong representative of Atlanta Cheer Academy and a positive reflection of his/her teammates. We will not tolerate bullying, abusive behavior or any form of negativity. We will not tolerate gossip or negative comments about other programs. Talking back to coaches, rolling eyes, and any other disrespectful behavior will result in extra conditioning. We will respect each other, our coaches, other families and other programs as well. Parents will never reprimand someone else s child. All disciplinary problems will be handled
privately and professionally. Constant behavior issues will be grounds for dismissal from the program. Communication Most communication is set forth in calendars, emails, and group messaging. Any questions or team related problems should first be addressed with the Head Coach prior to contacting Coach Traci. Team Reps will also be appointed to assist with communication, team spirit gifts, and competition day organization. Miscellaneous All routines/choreography including music, cheers, dances, stunts, transitions, and tumbling should be highly protected and shall not be shown or discussed with others. This also includes any and all portions of music selections. NO VIDEOS of routines/choreography or tryout material should be uploaded to any site such as YouTube, Instagram, Musically, etc. Coach Traci must approve all designs bearing the name and Logo Atlanta Cheer Academy. Any money (i.e Bids) awarded to teams at competition will go toward the program/team and not individuals. Tuition does not pay for the right to perform. Individuals must meet the level skill requirement in order to compete. Please take advantage of tumbling classes! Students can be moved to a lower level team or sit out a competition if they do not meet and maintain the skill requirements. Perfection before Progress!! Students will not advance to higher-level tumbling and stunting skills before mastering the basics. Proper technique is everything! Atlanta Cheer Academy reserves the right to change a teams division and level at any time throughout the season. Withdrawal from Atlanta Cheer Academy All-Star Program ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. This includes tuition, all-star fees, payments for hotels, spirit gifts, pro-shop purchases, etc. Should you decide Atlanta Cheer Academy is no longer a good fit for your child, you must submit a written letter stating the Athlete s name and date of withdrawal. If you quit after September 30, 2018 you must pay a $300 Re-Choreography Fee.
