I am Bhat Sangat Sandesh I came in to being as a voice of the Bhat Sangat at the time when the new century had just begun the year 2000. My internal plans were to try and educate by informing which would change the route of the Bhat Sangat but so far after 15 years the Bradri has not changed for the better and I am told time after time that we have had our good peak and now we are going down the hill. We are very well off now cash wise but other ways we are going from bad to worst if we are changing then it is for the worst gone are the days when we use to ride around in old vans 50 years ago now there are at least 6 cars standing in our front court and all Mercedes at that. So far we have not got an organisation of our selves which is up and running. Yes Sangat Bhatra Samparda UK came in to being some thirty years ago and I became the first president of it. All of our Gurdwaras refused to own it and kept saying it is nothing to do with us. So every one has labelled it as a social organisation. But now after lots of meetings in different Gurdwaras we managed to get Council of Bhat Sikh Gurdwara UK off the ground and we even have some money in the bank and a treasurer. We managed to select two joint secretaries to try and get all of our Gurdwaras together, but it seems that their way of approach has not worked and they seem to have gone and have given it up as a bad job, but even though they could not do it they would not let others have a go. So now we should be looking for new people who can get all our Gurdwaras gelling together and share a stage with all of them. In India our community are classified as a backward class and where are we today? We have to change our approach of contact to change lots and lots of different things, our way of life, the way we conduct our marriages of our children. There was a time when we did not use to send our daughters for higher education can you guess why? It was, that our boys did not use to get that much of an independence and now we are in great deal of trouble. There are families who are making fun of other families and conducting fictitious marriag- Spoiling the life of other peoples, children we all need to restrain our selves but to do that we need hard working committed volunteers. We all have no time to go and visit each Gurdwara but we have the source where we can get in touch with them and get them agreed to come to the meeting when we call one. We do not have to have 33 Gurdwaras all at once but more the merrier or just more then half of them will do. So first of all from the Bhat Sangat Sandesh under the banner of council of Bhat Sikh Gurdwara UK, can we have some names sent to us by different individuals who are willing to do something for their own community. We definitely need new leaders at least two from each town or city. It would be good if we can stop tearing each other apart by misleading each other. We have got people complaining about our Gurdwaras, that they are not running properly not conducting the place as a Gurdwara which should be owned and run by the whole of the community. For the benefit of the local community if a grant was given to them it was for all of the community not for one family. If this does not get sorted out we will be the first one to look in to it from the BSS. There are others who are complaining about another Gurdwara as well. Those volunteer who will come forward we would like them to choos a subject to deal with, for example how can we get all Gurdwaras together. In a breakdown of our children marriages how do we find partners for our children, why are our Jattan are so important we are already marrying our children in our family, how are all of our Gurdwaras running? So if you are willing, then please send your name with bit of information as to who you are, why you are volunteering and e.mail it to us at jaswantjas36@gmail.com. We will compile all the names and then send every one a list of them and then see how many people we have been able to get together and if the Waheguru permits us we will sure to have a majority of the Gurdwara to come and join us at the meeting before the end of the year. The meeting will be held in one of the Gurdwaras in Birmingham and we will ask first for their permission. Jaswant Singh Jas

Our fore fathers chose to bring us here to UK as they thought it was a nice and friendly country and that people are very polite. But now we find that the food we eat it is not what it says on the labels. We are all experiencing what is said to be JANAM PRISHT cause every package food we eat has additives in them, every frozen food we eat has additives in there, every processed food we eat has animal fat in them. We all know that pork is in plenty full in supply in 42000 farms in UK. The manufacture who processes pork meat have a big problem on their hands and that is what to do with layers and layers of fat that comes out of processing pork meat. They did not know what they would have to do with that so they started adding the fat in foods. If you are a Hindu or a Sikh and you are a meat eater they will tell you that it contain pork fat and if you are a Moslem than then you are told that it contains cow and sheep fat. Since the Moslem council have objected to that they are calling it animal fat so which ever way you lean they have all the answers for you. I do feel that the Moslem community are worse off than us. The cow fat is also used but it is in short supply than the pork fat. However where it says contains animal fat we don t even know if they are talking about cow, or pork or sheep fat or even fat from the fish. Opposite this half page we are going to give you the names of the additive and they are called by letter E. I am not going to say which E has what in the food we eat but you need to look for your self. Just go to google and put what are all these additives called E which are in our food, sweets, chocolate. What about soft drinks you need to look up all of them, I have done that my self that is why I am saying it it is Janam Prisht. By taking all these E s seriously we should not be eating majority of the biscuit, bread, there are too many things that I cannot mention as it would take pages and pages. Most of all don t eat fish n chips shops fry chips, burgers, sausages, ribs of all kinds and so on. Some one sent me a forwarding email and it has opened my eyes as to what we should give up eating and drinking and the government is saying we are all over weight no wonder the amount of pork fat they intake in their food. A man died at his home this week in June who was thirty odd years old and who use to weigh 65 stone. I am a governor of a secondary and primary school and the school are trying to get the parents as well as the children to change their eating habits for example eat, less sugar, less salt, less fatty food, less chocolate and change to healthy food and fruit etc. send email to the Rasala, Jagir Singh Taak London. Look at the following codes on Google:- I WISH TO REQUEST ALL NON PORK MEAT EATER TO CHECK THE INGREDIENTS OF THE ITEMS OF DAILY USE THEN AVOID IT AS IT MAY HAVE PIG FAT. IT WILL SAY CONTAIN ANIMAL FAT. Below I am going to give some examples E100, E110, E120, E141, E153,E210,E213,E214,E216, E234,E270, E280,E325,E326,E327,E334.E335, E336,E337,E431, E434,E335,E336,E337,E422,E439,E431,E432,E433,E434,E435, E436, E440, E 441, E470,E471, E472,E473, E474,E475, E476,E477,E487,E481 E482,E483,E491,E492, E493,E494,E495,E542,E570,E572,E631, E635,E904.Some of these E ingredients are present in majority of products of multinational firms. Which E numbers and additives are from animal origin? By Dr Yunes Teinaz from London central cultural centre, E120,Cochineal: a red colour abstained from female insects. E441,Gelatine: derived from the bones and hide aand hoofs of cattle and or pigs. E542 Edible bones Phosphate: an extract fron animal bones. Let us talk about the E441 Gelatine has now been classified as food. Remember that all kind of Gelatine is animal based and can be found in dairy products like yogurts plus many kind of confectionery, jellies and some other sweets as well All we are asking our readers to go to google and put in additives E and then go on from there. Below I will give you the flavour of some of the other E numbers. E Numbers purely Drived from Animal Origins E120 Cochineal This crimson comes from the crushed shell of the cactus insect, dactylopious coccus. E542 Edible bone phosphate This originates from animal bones. E631 Sodium 5 -inosinate this comes from meat extracts and sardines. E904 Shellac this substance is obtained from the resin produced by the Lac insect. It s a native if India and is related to meaty bugs and scale insects. Others E numbers that may have animal origins. The following E numbers can be derived from animals or vegetable origin: E161g Canthaxanthin A pigment found in mushrooms and flamingo feathers. E910,-L Cysteine, E920, L cycsteine hydrochloride and E921 part of this can be extracted from the feathers from ducks and chickens. Many products of multinational firms including, but limited to Tooth paste, Chewing gum, chocolate, lots of different sweets Biscuits, cornflakes, toffees, canned foods, and others tins of fruit. Really speaking I could go on and write a book but I rather you find out for your self. Jagir Singh Taak London this is page9

INFORMATION LETTER FOR OUR SANGAT S. Jaswant Singh Jas Chief Editor Bhat Sangat Sandesh Bhat Sangat Association, Cardiff. Dear Veer Ji, Wed 1 st July 2015 Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh, We hope you and all your family are keeping well and in good health. We would like to begin by thanking you for your continued and consistent hard work and commitment over the years in relation to our beloved Rasala. May it long continue? Veer Ji, We write to you today with regards to a sensitive but important matter, which has had a huge negative impact on our family over the last 12 months. We hope that by sending you this letter, we as the wider Bhat Community can prevent such incidents from re-occurring and happening again to other families. This letter is about raising awareness and reminding our brothers and sisters to carry out their full research and homework before marrying your children off. The account below is effectively every parent s nightmare, but a real life example of what is happening in our community today and is factually what my brother s family experienced. Only 12 months ago (July 2014) our brother Kalwant Singh s daughter was married into the Digpal family in Leeds. Within weeks of marriage, it became apparent that things were not right. The boy seemed distracted and spent much of his spare time out of the house and away from his family and his new bride. It was noted that he regularly stayed out all night, not returning home until the morning. However the boy s family kept my niece pre-occupied by taking her out and about, buying her gifts etc., so that she would not feel too upset and disheartened. This went on for a few months without my brother and his family knowing there was anything wrong. After the summer months, my niece came home to visit her parents for a few days. When she returned to her in-laws in Leeds, she found her husband had already packed his bags and had left home! What is really shocking is that the boy s parents still kept my niece there in Leeds for a further 6 weeks pretending everything was okay, when in reality their son had left home. My niece had effectively been brainwashed into believing it was okay and normal (in this day and age) to live in her in-laws house without her husband being present. It was only because we suspected something was wrong that my brother decided to check on her and ended up bringing her back home to Doncaster, and that s when the true facts became known. In the months that have followed, many facts have come to light. I would like to briefly highlight a few of these: The boy was already in an intimate relationship with another girl prior to marriage and did not want to enter into an arranged marriage. His parent s and extended family all knew this, however the boy was forced to go ahead with this marriage. Why? So that the parents could keep their face and reputation in the community at any cost! The boy has in recent months fathered a child with his girlfriend. Quite shockingly the boy has since moved back into his parent s house with his girlfriend and child. The boy s family are playing happy families again! The age of the baby also suggests that the boy knew his girlfriend was expecting before getting married. Meanwhile the life of an innocent girl has effectively been ruined, due to other people s selfishness and personal egos. My brother is of course financially out of pocket. We all know how expensive our weddings have become. This has been like throwing your hard earned savings down the drain! Veer Ji. Our whole family are angry and frustrated. We also feel let down. In the first instance, the boy and his parents knew what was going on and could have done the decent thing by coming clean and avoiding all this pain and agony. In the second instance, it is now clear that some members of the Sangat in Leeds were

also aware of what was going on, but did not have the courage to let us know but seemed okay with the possibility that someone s daughter s life was about to be ruined.. It s a real shame that our community do not help each other when they have the knowledge and ability to do so. It s also a shame that in these modern times, some parents are still not prepared to listen to their children and do the decent thing but would rather force them into marriage against their will. It s also a shame that to some, the lives of innocent people mean nothing. What can we do as a community to change our perceptions, attitudes and our ideology towards our children and marriage? What measures can we introduce within our community to help each other and prevent episodes like this repeating themselves? What can be done to restore trust and confidence back into our community? For instance, no one it seems is prepared to get involved in any rishta anymore because they are too frightened of things going wrong. Slowly but surely, the marriage situation in the Bhatra community is getting worse and worse. Surely it s time we did something about it. I would welcome other people s thoughts. Veer Ji, we would be hugely grateful if you could print this letter in the next Rasala and also send a copy of this to every UK Bhatra Gurdwara in order to raise awareness. Hopefully it will benefit others and prevent other lives from being ruined. Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh Letter sent from the whole Potiwal family in Doncaster. Dear Brother, S. Sucha Singh Ji, Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. Thank you for sending your report via the email to us at Bhat Sangat Sandesh. I have read your letter disturbingly and have felt real shame to read what you have written in the letter. It is really, really a very disturbing case and we do very much hope that when our Sangat read this letter they will also write their version to us as to what happened! And why it happened? This was one of the reason why our engagement use to lasts from three to six months. So that both sides use to get to know each other. But, these days the Chatt Mangni and Fatt Viaha is also the biggest cause of these kind of arrange marriages. We do hope that members of our community will write to us to say if all this heart ache can be and should be avoided in the future. This is also one of the reason that we were trying very hard to get a Bhat Sikh Gurdwara Council off the ground and maybe this was one of the reason why it did not or has not been established up to now. It is really a tragedy for the girl whose life has been ruined, the big question if the boy knew what he was doing, and what position he was in, then why did he say I DO at the civil marriage ceremony. We wish to urge all our readers to please response to this case and suggest what we as the Bhat Sikh community of Britain should do, and what do all Gurdwaras and their committee think that we should do to avoid this kind of circumstances to any family, it really did hurt me to read this report and I know it will hurt lots of other people who have their own daughters. When we use to do Viaha daa Paths in Cardiff and the boy side did not bring the certificate with them and told us that they have forgotten it that they will send it. When they did send it the path had already begun, it said the boy has been divorced so the girl side in Cardiff cancelled the path Can I say that it was Leeds Gurdwara where Sangat Bhatra Samparda UK was born some thirty two years ago because some writer wrote something bad about our Bhat Sikh Community? We would be interested to know how many Jhanji s came with the Baraat, how many coaches and lastly brothers please tell the community how much it cost you to carry out the wedding of your daughter, so that the community understands as to how much finance was involved. Really speaking Leeds is just down the road from Doncaster, can this situation happen so close by? Can we say that we have included what the Potiwal family of Doncaster has sent to us via email but we have omitted the name of the Digpal family of Leeds this time and we wish to ask the Digpal family to send us a response to this letter? If however we do not hear from you we will have no option then and we will print all the names. Hoping to hear from you and other readers as well. Jaswant Singh Jas Chief Editor Bhat Sangat Sandesh of Cardiff. These are pages 12 and 13.

She was not very well in her health for quite some time we are sorry to hear that her sone Manjit was not at the funeral. She was originally from Canal Park and use to live down the street from us in Canal Park. When Mirgind Ji first wife past away my father who was Mirgind Ji s friend persuaded the mother of our Auntie Rani Kaur to marry her to him. After the marriage Gy: Ji opened a Giani college and our auntie Rani Ji also passed the Giani course as well. My parents still remained close when we all eventually came to UK and lived in London, Even when Auntie Rani ji had her children. Personally I would like to say here that she was my life saver in Canal Park many many years ago when I nearly got drowned in our Canal in Canal Park. One afternoon when while bathing in the Canal I slipped in the deep hole which the men had dug out to bath them selves. While this was happening auntie Rani Ji was washing some clothes down that Canal Bank and was watching me while I was in the Canal and when I got in to difficulties, I know I could not swim out but I managed put my hand above the water when she saw me disappear in the deep hole and most probably saw my hand above water she jumped in the Canal and pulled me out just in time and took me to my house to my mother. So thank you auntie Ji for that. As I never got the chance to thank you personally.all and all our auntie Ji was a very polite, and very soft spoken person and was always smiling and my prayer is that my the Waheguru ji give her Soule a place in his abode. With a very heavy heart. Jaswant Singh Jas Canal Park wala.
