Westfield Area High School 2018 Homecoming This year, Homecoming is going to look a little different in Westfield due to a lack of a varsity football game. Additionally, classes will be competing for the Homecoming Championship. Classes will accrue points during the week through participation in dress-up days, class games, float & banner rankings, dodge ball, boys volleyball, and girls powder puff football. The class that wins the Homecoming Championship will receive a Pizza Ranch & soda party during SSR and homeroom the following week. Boys Volleyball and Girls Powder Puff finals will take place on Friday night, and the community is invited to enjoy the festivities. Finally, the Homecoming Dance has been moved to Saturday, October 14th. Students have requested this change for several years to allow them more time to prepare for the dance, go out for dinner, take pictures, and to make the dance more formal than it has been in the past. General Information This year s theme is Pioneer Pride Through the Decades. Homecoming 2018 will be a celebration of the Pioneer Pride felt by generations of students, staff, alumni, and community members. As we enjoy another successful year at Westfield Area High School, and build toward an even brighter future, we pay homage to the Pioneers that came before us. Each class, along with FFA, will selected a decade to represent during Homecoming week. Classes will dress up according to their particular decade during Tuesday s Decade Day, and will decorate their floats & banners according to the decade they represent. The following decades will be represented throughout the week: 1970 s: Senior Class 1980 s: Junior Class 1950 s: Sophomore Class 1800 s Pioneers: Freshman Class 1960 s: FFA The Future: 7th & 8th Grades.
Homecoming activities will take place toward the end of the school day on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of Homecoming week. Dress-up days are scheduled for every day of the week, as well. Friday, October 13th is a day of various activities, decorating for Saturday s dance, float building, and the Homecoming parade. On Friday night, the Boys Volleyball Finals will be held in the Varsity Gym. Following volleyball finals, the Girls Powder Puff Finals will take place on the football field under the lights. The community is invited to both contests and we hope to see a big crowd for the events. The Pep Band will play before the volleyball and powder puff finals and concessions will be sold for both events. We hope to see a huge turnout from members of the community. Homecoming Parade The Homecoming Parade will take place at 2:00 downtown on Friday, October 13th and will follow the traditional parade route. Westfield High School Alumni are invited to walk in the parade next to their decade s float.
